In the last five years, the application of AI in medical research has become a hot topic in modern science and technology. Platelet-albumin-bilirubin (PALBI) has been demonstrated to be superior to conventional Child-Pugh (C-P) grade in evaluating liver function and prognosis of HCC patients. However, both thrombocytosis and thrombocytopenia are unfavorable for HCC survival. The aim of this study was to preliminarily investigate the prognostic value of PALBI in HCC patients with thrombocytopenia and excluding thrombocytopenia.

In this retrospective cohort study, we reviewed 465 cases of HCC patients who underwent radical surgery. PALBI grade was calculated based on preoperative serological examinations. The primary outcomes were overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS), which were assessed by Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression. The prognostic performances of PALBI and other models were estimated by using the concordance index (C-index).

In this study, we investigated the predictive risk factors for contralateral paratracheal lymph node metastasis (LNM) in unilateral cT1N1a or cT2N1a PTC.

In this case-control study, which was conducted at a single center, demographic and pathological data from unilateral cT1N1a or cT2N1a PTC patients were collected from January 2017 to March 2019. All patients were treated with total thyroidectomy and bilateral CCND.

Two hundred thirty-seven patients met the inclusion criteria. Forty-nine patients (20.7%) were diagnosed with positive lymph nodes in the contralateral paratracheal region. Male sex (p=0.003), T2 disease (21-40 mm) (p<0.001), inferior pole tumor (p=0.011), near isthmus tumor (p<0.001), aggressivenodes were predictive factors for contralateral paratracheal LNM in unilateral cT1N1a or cT2N1a PTC. These data may be useful to identify targets for surveillance or develop therapeutic interventions for patients with CCND.
Tumors with lymphovascular invasion (LVI) are thought to be associated with lymph node metastasis and to lead to a worse prognosis. However, the effect of LVI on the prognosis of adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction (AEG) is still unclear.

We retrospectively analyzed 224 consecutive patients with non-metastatic AEG who underwent radical surgery in our hospital from 2004 to 2018. learn more Inverse probability weighting (IPW) analysis was used to eliminate the selection bias. IPW-adjusted Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazards models were used to compare disease-specific survival (DSS) and overall survival (OS) between patients with and without LVI.

A total of 224 patients with non-metastatic AEG who underwent radical resection were included in the study and 96 (42.9%) patients developed LVI. Survival analysis showed that LVI were associated with worse DSS (hazard ratio (HR) = 3.12; 95% CI 1.93-5.03) and worse OS (HR = 2.33; 95% CI 1.61-3.38). The results were consistent across subgroups stratified by pathologic N stage. Subgroup analysis demonstrated that Siewert type III (HR= 3.20, 95% CI 1.45-7.06) was associated with worse DSS, but not Siewert type I/II (HR= 1.46, 95% CI 0.94-2.31, P-interaction=0.047).
