Besides, the paper proposes a transfer application to the proposed continuous distance estimator to measure human height. The proposed approach is evaluated in different indoor environments, sensor placements with different participants. This paper shows a median overall error of ± 0.2 m in continuous-based estimation and 96.8 % achieved-accuracy in discrete distance estimation. In this paper, the dynamics of a non-autonomous tabu learning two-neuron model is investigated. The model is obtained by building a tabu learning two-neuron (TLTN) model with a composite hyperbolic tangent function consisting of three hyperbolic tangent functions with different offsets. The possibility to adjust the compound activation function is exploited to report the sensitivity of non-trivial equilibrium points with respect to the parameters. Analysis tools like bifurcation diagram, Lyapunov exponents, phase portraits, and basin of attraction are used to explore various windows in which the neuron model under the consideration displays the uncovered phenomenon of the coexistence of up to six disconnected stable states for the same set of system parameters in a TLTN. In addition to the multistability, nonlinear phenomena such as period-doubling bifurcation, hysteretic dynamics, and parallel bifurcation branches are found when the control parameter is tuned. The analog circuit is built in PSPICE environment, and simulations are performed to validate the obtained results as well as the correctness of the numerical methods. Finally, an encryption/decryption algorithm is designed based on a modified Julia set and confusion-diffusion operations with the sequences of the proposed TLTN model. The security performances of the built cryptosystem are analyzed in terms of computational time (CT = 1.82), encryption throughput (ET = 151.82 MBps), number of cycles (NC = 15.80), NPCR = 99.6256, UACI = 33.6512, χ 2-values = 243.7786, global entropy = 7.9992, and local entropy = 7.9083. Note that the presented values are the optimal results. These results demonstrate that the algorithm is highly secured compared to some fastest neuron chaos-based cryptosystems and is suitable for a sensitive field like IoMT security. As U.S. healthcare organizations transition to value-based healthcare, they are increasingly focusing on supporting patients who have difficulties managing chronic care, including mental health, through the growing role of care managers (CMs). Phycocyanobilin in vivo CMs communicate with patients, provide access to resources, and coach them toward healthy behaviors. CMs also coordinate patient-related issues internally with healthcare practitioners and externally with community organizations and insurance providers. While there have been many interaction design studies regarding the work of clinical and non-clinical healthcare providers and how best to design support systems for them, we know little about the work of CMs. In this study, we examine the role of CMs, particularly focusing on their work to support patient mental health, through interviews with 11 CMs who are part of a large Midwestern U.S. health system. Workflow observations were conducted to supplement the interview data. We describe the role of CMs and identify challenges that they face in supporting patient mental health. A key challenge is a high degree of role ambiguity in this professional role. We discuss sociotechnical implications to better support care delivery processes and technologies for the delivery of mental health services by CMs.In Bangladesh, pedestrians remain the most neglected road user group in terms of research and safety measures, even though they are involved in nearly 50% of all fatal collisions. In the Dhaka metropolitan area, this statistic rises to around 65%. To reduce the recurrence of such collisions, it is necessary to understand the underlying thought processes of pedestrians, and how pedestrians interact with different road users, particularly when crossing the road. This study contributes to knowledge through the analysis of verbal data from 46 pedestrians, framed in terms of the Perceptual Cycle Model, where cognitive processes are described in terms of three categories schema (mental templates), action (doing things), and world (environmental information). Concurrent verbal reports were provided by participants while they negotiated a busy area of mixed traffic in the centre of Dhaka city. The analysis revealed some of the factors that affected decision-making (for road crossing behaviour) at the different road sections. Many external factors (e.g., street sellers, rubbish blocking the path, lack of shade and poor pavement condition) prevented the pavement from being used and contributed to riskier road crossing behaviour. Some safety implications and related recommendations are presented. After World Health Organization (WHO) announced COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic, we all again realized the importance of developing rapid diagnostic kits. In this article, we introduced a lightweight and field-portable biosensor employing a plasmonic chip based on nanohole arrays integrated to a lensfree-imaging framework for label-free detection of viruses in field-settings. The platform utilizes a CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) camera with high quantum efficiency in the spectral window of interest to monitor diffraction field patterns of nanohole arrays under the uniform illumination of an LED (light-emitting diode) source which is spectrally tuned to the plasmonic mode supported by the nanohole arrays. As an example for the applicability of our biosensor for virus detection, we could successfully demonstrate the label-free detection of H1N1 viruses, e.g., swine flu, with medically relevant concentrations. We also developed a low-cost and easy-to-use sample preparation kit to prepare the surfacossessing this ability, our biosensor could be swiftly deployed to the field in need for rapid diagnosis, which may be an important asset to prevent the spread of diseases before turning into a pandemic by isolating patients from the population. The unprecedented surge of a novel coronavirus in the month of December 2019, named as COVID-19 by the World Health organization has caused a serious impact on the health and socioeconomic activities of the public all over the world. Since its origin, the number of infected and deceased cases has been growing exponentially in almost all the affected countries of the world. The rapid spread of the novel coronavirus across the world results in the scarcity of medical resources and overburdened hospitals. As a result, the researchers and technocrats are continuously working across the world for the inculcation of efficient strategies which may assist the government and healthcare system in controlling and managing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study provides an extensive review of the ongoing strategies such as diagnosis, prediction, drug and vaccine development and preventive measures used in combating the COVID-19 along with technologies used and limitations. Moreover, this review also provides a comparative analysis of the distinct type of data, emerging technologies, approaches used in diagnosis and prediction of COVID-19, statistics of contact tracing apps, vaccine production platforms used in the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, the study highlights some challenges and pitfalls observed in the systematic review which may assist the researchers to develop more efficient strategies used in controlling and managing the spread of COVID-19.[This corrects the article DOI 10.1007/s11071-021-06320-7.].Research concerning the behavior of international linguistic minorities at institutions of higher education during disasters is very limited. Many international groups suffer from discrimination based on language (linguicism) during disasters-their stories are not being told, and their voices are not being heard. The main objective of our study is to develop new knowledge about disaster-related behaviors of international linguistic minorities at institutions of higher education with a view toward enhancing overall campus emergency planning. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to collect and analyze data; 62 subjects from the international community at University of Florida (UF), including foreign employees, international students, and foreign dependents, were surveyed shortly after the hurricane Dorian alert on campus. Additionally, 10 subjects from the UF international community were interviewed. The data analysis sought to provide insights into one main question What were the key challenges facing international linguistic minorities at UF campus during the hurricane Dorian alert? Three comprehensive groups of challenges were found; disaster knowledge deficit and false perceptions, generic emergency communication, and inadequate disaster preparedness. The research findings provide insight into the experience of culturally different groups and offer practical and critical policy insights that help in developing more efficient disaster mitigation plans, and disaster risk-reduction strategies.Circ_0137287 was found to be decreased in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) tissues and related to aggressive clinicopathologic characteristics. However, the role and mechanism of circ_0137287 in PTC remain vague. Circ_0137287 expression was decreased in PTC and its low expression predicted poor survival. The ROC analysis suggested circ_0137287 might be a marker for PTC diagnosis. Circ_0137287 overexpression in PTC cells impaired cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and aerobic glycolysis, but induced apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. Circ_0137287 specifically bound to miR-183-5p, and miR-183-5p reversed the inhibitory effects of circ_0137287 on PTC tumor growth, motility and aerobic glycolysis. MiR-183-5p directly targeted PPP2R2A, and promoted PTC progression through regulating PPP2R2A. Mechanistically, circ_0137287 could indirectly modulate PPP2R2A expression through targeting miR-183-5p. Circ_0137287 suppressed PTC tumorigenesis and aerobic glycolysis through up-regulating PPP2R2A via miR-183-5p absorption, indicating a promising prognostic, diagnostic and therapeutic target. We investigated the role of miR-522-3p in thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis (TAMG), and the mechanism of action in T cells. The miR-522-3p expression in normal serum, non-thymoma MG patient serum and TAMG patient serum and tissues was detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), respectively. We assessed miR-522-3p expression in Jurkat cells and human CD4+ T cells after activation by anti-CD3 and anti-CD28 using qRT-PCR. The viability, proliferation, cycle distribution and the levels of CD25, CD69, interleukin-2 (IL-2) and IL-10 in transfected Jurkat cells were detected by Cell counting kit-8, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU), flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, respectively. Targeting relationships of miR-522-3p and SLC31A1 were predicted and validated by bioinformatics analysis and dual-luciferase reporter. The viability, proliferation, cycle distribution and the levels of SLC31A1, CD25, CD69, IL-2 and IL-10 in transfected Jurkat cells were detected by above methods and western blot. The miR-522-3p expression was declined in TAMG and activated T cells.
