External Locus of Control Behavior represents an important factor of psychopathological vulnerability and can increase people's vulnerability to psychosis. Using the Craig Scale (1984), we investigated the Locus of Control Behavior in a sample of patients at high risk of psychosis compared to schizophrenia patients and mood disorder patients. Furthermore, we investigated the possible correlation between an external Locus of Control and psychopathological dimensions such as aberrant salience, and attenuated positive and negative symptoms.
Despite numerous techniques for assessing mental health nursing abilities and accomplishments, most practice in psychiatric wards is based on observable clinical behaviours and actions. VOSviewer can perform bibliographic network analysis (BNA), extracting all central topics that identify core behavioural skills in mental health nursing and essential elements in interprofessional practice (IPP).

The current study captures the critical concepts in mental health nursing assessment by performing a BNA of essential topics on ethnography, social network analysis, and interprofessional care.

A qualitative BNA with a VOSviewer extracted relevant topics from a total of 542 articles obtained from Microsoft API. A subsequent confirmatory quantitative analysis with NVIVO weighed the percentages of the relevant issues and words extracted by the VOSviewer. Boolean keywords searched were 'ethnography,' 'social network analysis,' 'interprofessional', 'psychiatry' and 'hospital'.

To improve the effectiveness of parent-mediated interventions, it is important to individualize interventions. This article evaluates how different components of parent-mediated interventions and mothers' learning styles influence the effectiveness of the intervention. In a randomized clinical trial, mothers were taught to use one of two types of language facilitation strategies responsive and directive. Mothers' learning styles were characterized by the Broad Autism Phenotype (BAP) and their natural tendency to use language facilitation strategies before intervention. Findings suggest that it was easier for all mothers (irrespective of learning style) to use responsive strategies compared to directive strategies. In addition, mothers with learning styles that were not consistent with the BAP were more likely to benefit from the intervention if they did not naturally use strategies before the intervention. In contrast, mothers with learning styles that were consistent with the BAP were more likely to benefit from the intervention if they did naturally use strategies before the intervention. Teaching mothers to use responsive strategies results in greater strategy use. Consideration of BAP and mothers' natural use of language facilitation strategies may inform intervention individualization. The coronary artery disease (CAD) is a chronic inflammatory disease involving genetic as well as environmental factors. Recent evidence suggests that the oral microbiome has a significant role in triggering atherosclerosis. The present study assessed the oral microbiome composition variation between coronary patients and healthy subjects in order to identify a potential pathogenic signature associated with CAD. We performed metagenomic profiling of salivary microbiomes by 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) next-generation sequencing. Oral microbiota profiling was performed for 30 individuals including 20 patients with CAD and ten healthy individuals without carotid plaques or previous stroke or myocardial infarction. We found that oral microbial communities in patients and healthy controls are represented by similar global core oral microbiome. The predominant taxa belonged to Firmicutes (genus Streptococcus, Veillonella, Granulicatella, Selenomonas), Proteobacteria (genus Neisseria, Haemophilus), Actinobacteria (genus Rothia), Bacteroidetes (genus Prevotella, Porphyromonas), and Fusobacteria (genus Fusobacterium, Leptotrichia). More than 60% relative abundance of each sample for both CAD patients and controls is represented by three major genera including Streptococcus (24.97 and 26.33%), Veillonella (21.43 and 19.91%), and Neisseria (14.23 and 15.33%). Using penalized regression analysis, the bacterial genus Eikenella was involved as the major discriminant genus for both status and Syntax score of CAD. We also reported a significant negative correlation between Syntax score and Eikenella abundance in coronary patients' group (Spearman rho = -0.68, P=0.00094). In conclusion, the abundance of Eikenella in oral coronary patient samples compared with controls could be a prominent pathological indicator for the development of CAD.People with major depressive disorder continue to be marred by chronically pernicious yet preventable outcomes in the biopsychosocial aspects. With the reallocation of healthcare resources towards the fight against the coronavirus 2019 pandemic, much emphasis has been placed on existing community mental health interventions to ameliorate the disruption of mental health services. Moreover, the recent propulsion of community mental health services by the World Health Organization Mental Health Action Plan 2013-2030 ignited the need to bolster existing community interventions by providing comprehensive, responsive and integrated mental healthcare. The enhanced emphasis on mental healthcare in the community and the heightened demands of people with major depressive disorder underscores the need to explore the current state of community mental health interventions. This scoping review examined 51 primary studies published from year 2010 to 2020 using Arskey & O'Malley's five-stage framework and provided an overview of the impact of existing community mental health interventions for people with major depressive disorder. Findings using thematic analysis have recommended the adoption of person-centred community mental healthcare via the biopsychosocial approach for people with major depressive disorder. Enablers of community mental health interventions were driven by culturally appropriate care and augmented by technology-driven modalities. Challenges and gaps of community mental health interventions include the perpetuation of stigma and misconception, complex demands of persons with major depressive disorder and lack of holistic and long-term outcomes. Given the impact of major depressive disorder on the various biopsychosocial aspects, it is envisioned that our insights into the enablers and barriers of community mental health interventions will guide prospective interdisciplinary and nurse-led interventions in holistically improving the care of persons with major depressive disorder in the community settings.Proteins that contain basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) and Per-Arnt-Sim motifs (PAS) function as transcription factors. bHLH-PAS proteins exhibit essential and diverse functions throughout the body, from cell specification and differentiation in embryonic development to the proper function of organs like the brain and liver in adulthood. bHLH-PAS proteins are divided into two classes, which form heterodimers to regulate transcription. Class I bHLH-PAS proteins are typically activated in response to specific stimuli, while class II proteins are expressed more ubiquitously. Here, we discuss the general structure and functions of bHLH-PAS proteins throughout the animal kingdom, including family members that do not fit neatly into the class I-class II organization. We review heterodimerization between class I and class II bHLH-PAS proteins, binding partner selectivity and functional redundancy. Finally, we discuss the evolution of bHLH-PAS proteins, and why a class I protein essential for cardiovascular development in vertebrates like chicken and fish is absent from mammals.Aim To investigate the efficacy and safety of adjuvant EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors for resected EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer. Materials & methods Eligible phase II/III randomized controlled trials were included for the network meta-analyses (PROSPERO CRD42021275150). Results Nine records and 831 patients were involved. Adjuvant chemotherapy followed with osimertinib significantly prolonged disease-free survival compared with chemotherapy (hazard ratio [HR] 0.2; 95% CI 0.14-0.29), chemotherapy followed with erlotinib (HR 0.33; 95% CI 0.18-0.6), chemotherapy followed with gefitinib (HR 0.36; 95% CI 0.16-0.82), gefitinib (HR 0.26; 95% CI 0.17-0.41) and icotinib (HR 0.56; 95% CI 0.3-0.98). Icotinib was the least likely to cause grade ≥3 adverse events. Conclusion Chemotherapy followed with osimertinib brings about the best disease-free survival. SC75741 Icotinib monotherapy shows the best safety.Herein we report simple, highly efficient, and phosphine-free N,C-Ru and N,N-Ru catalysts for ligand-controlled borrowing-hydrogen (BH) and interrupted-borrowing-hydrogen (I-BH) methods, respectively. This protocol has been employed on a variety of ketones using MeOH as a green, sustainable, and alternative C1 source to form a C-C bond through the BH and I-BH methods. Reasonably good substrate scope, functional group tolerance, and good-to-excellent yields at 70 °C are the added highlights of these methodologies. Controlled experiments reveal that an in situ formed formaldehyde is one of the crucial elements in this ligand-controlled selective protocol, which upon reaction with a ketone generates an enone as an intermediate. This enone in the presence of the N,C-Ru catalyst and N,N-Ru catalyst through the BH and I-BH pathways yields methylated ketones and 1,5-diketones, respectively.Aims Critical decisions made in the field by paramedics influence where patients die if their end of life (EOL) wishes are upheld and how appropriately health-care resources are used. The aim was to gauge perceptions as to the current and future role of paramedics in EOL care. Methods A qualitative approach collated data from two focus group interviews (group 1 n=7, group 2 n=8). Focus groups were audio recorded, transcribed, and analysed using Attride-Stirling's framework for thematic network analysis. Results The global theme 'Paramedics' Perceptions of Their Role in End of Life Care' emerged from five organising themes 1. education and training; 2. current clinical practice guidelines; 3. communication; 4. environment and 5. staff support. Poor communication between those involved in patient care, lack of support from current clinical practice guidelines, limited training in managing EOL scenarios and inadequate staff supports were highlighted by participants. The clinical environment also effected how challenging practitioners found the call.
