Earlier Spatiotemporal Styles and Human population Traits of the COVID-19 Outbreak within Southeast Asia.
According to our study, we aimed to give a scientific interpretation on how the area-specific social economic factors affect the disease situation at the macro level and help local medical institution make advisable decisions for controlling cervical cancer. The identification of important areas during the annual life cycle of migratory animals, such as baleen whales, is vital for their conservation. In boreal springtime, fin and blue whales feed in the Azores on their way to northern latitudes while sei whales migrate through the archipelago with only occasional feeding. Little is known about their autumn or winter presence or their acoustic behaviour in temperate migratory habitats. This study used a 5-year acoustic data set collected by autonomous recorders in the Azores that were processed and analysed using an automated call detection and classification system. Fin and blue whales were acoustically present in the archipelago from autumn to spring with marked seasonal differences in the use of different call types. Diel patterns of calling activity were only found for fin whales with more calls during the day than night. Sei whales showed a bimodal distribution of acoustic presence in spring and autumn, corresponding to their expected migration patterns. Diel differences in sei whale calling varied with season and location. This work highlights the importance of the Azores as a migratory and wintering habitat for three species of baleen whales and provides novel information on their acoustic behaviour in a mid-Atlantic region. The identification of vital nodes that maintain the network connectivity is a long-standing challenge in network science. In this paper, we propose a so-called reverse greedy method where the least important nodes are preferentially chosen to make the size of the largest component in the corresponding induced subgraph as small as possible. Accordingly, the nodes being chosen later are more important in maintaining the connectivity. Empirical analyses on eighteen real networks show that the reverse greedy method performs remarkably better than well-known state-of-the-art methods. To date, in Africa, evidence for animal processing and consumption in caves routinely used as living spaces is only documented in the late Middle Pleistocene of the North and South of the continent and postdates the Middle Pleistocene in East Africa. Here we report the earliest evidence in a North-African cave (Grotte des Rhinocéros at Casablanca, Morocco) of cut, percussion and human gnawing marks on faunal remains directly associated with lithic knapping activities in the same space and in a well-documented stratified context. Ages for this Acheulean site are provided by the dating of herbivorous teeth to 690-720 ka and 520-550 ka (lower and upper sets) by combined Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) and U-series techniques. Traces of butchery on gazelle, alcelaphin, and zebra bones demonstrate that hominins had primary access to herbivore carcasses. Hominins brought and consumed meat in the cave, as documented by herbivore bones bearing human tooth marks concentrated in a circumscribed area of the excavation. In Africa, this site provides the earliest evidence for in situ carcass processing and meat-eating in cave, directly associated with lithic production and demonstrates the recurrent use by early Middle Pleistocene hominins of a North African cave site 400 000 years before that by Homo sapiens at Jebel Irhoud (Morocco).Multishot Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a promising data acquisition technique that can produce a high-resolution image with relatively less data acquisition time than the standard spin echo. The downside of multishot MRI is that it is very sensitive to subject motion and even small levels of motion during the scan can produce artifacts in the final magnetic resonance (MR) image, which may result in a misdiagnosis. Adavosertib Numerous efforts have focused on addressing this issue; however, all of these proposals are limited in terms of how much motion they can correct and require excessive computational time. In this paper, we propose a novel generative adversarial network (GAN)-based conjugate gradient SENSE (CG-SENSE) reconstruction framework for motion correction in multishot MRI. First CG-SENSE reconstruction is employed to reconstruct an image from the motion-corrupted k-space data and then the GAN-based proposed framework is applied to correct the motion artifacts. The proposed method has been rigorously evaluated on synthetically corrupted data on varying degrees of motion, numbers of shots, and encoding trajectories. Our analyses (both quantitative as well as qualitative/visual analysis) establish that the proposed method is robust and reduces several-fold the computational time reported by the current state-of-the-art technique.Building knowledge schemas that organize information and guide future learning is of great importance in everyday life. Such knowledge building is suggested to occur through reinstatement of prior knowledge during new learning, yielding integration of new with old memories supported by the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and medial temporal lobe (MTL). Congruency with prior knowledge is also known to enhance subsequent memory. Yet, how reactivation and congruency interact to optimize memory integration is unknown. To investigate this question, we used an adapted AB-AC inference paradigm in combination with functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). Participants first studied an AB-association followed by an AC-association, so B (a scene) and C (an object) were indirectly linked through A (a pseudoword). BC-associations were either congruent or incongruent with prior knowledge (e.g. bathduck or hammer in a bathroom), and participants reported subjective B-reactivation strength while learning AC. Behaviorally, both congruency and reactivation enhanced memory integration. In the brain, these behavioral effects related to univariate and multivariate parametric effects in the MTL, mPFC, and Parahippocampal Place Area (PPA). Moreover, mPFC exhibited larger PPA-connectivity for more congruent associations. These outcomes provide insights into the neural mechanisms underlying memory enhancement, which has value for educational learning. We analyze free energy estimators from simulation trials mimicking single-molecule pulling experiments on a neck linker of a kinesin motor. For that purpose, we have performed a version of steered molecular dynamics (SMD) calculations. The sample trajectories have been analyzed to derive distribution of work done on the system. In order to induce stretching of the linker, we have applied a constant pulling force to the molecule and allowed for a subsequent relaxation of its structure. The use of fluctuation relations (FR) relevant to non-equilibrium systems subject to thermal fluctuations allows us to assess the difference in free energy between stretched and relaxed conformations. To further understand effects of potential mutations on elastic properties of the linker, we have performed similar in silico studies on a structure formed of a polyalanine sequence (Ala-only) and on three other structures, created by substituting selected types of amino acid residues in the linker's sequence with alanine (Ala) ones. The results of SMD simulations indicate a crucial role played by the Asparagine (Asn) and Lysine (Lys) residues in controlling stretching and relaxation properties of the linker domain of the motor.L-arginineglycine amidinotransferase (AGAT) and its metabolites creatine and homoarginine (HA) have been linked to cardiovascular pathologies in both human and murine studies, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly understood. Here, we report the first analysis of heart transcriptome variation using microarrays in an AGAT-deficient (AGAT-/-) mouse model to evaluate AGAT-, creatine- and HA-dependent gene regulation. Our data revealed significant differences of gene expression between AGAT-/- and wild-type (WT) mice, affecting cardiac energy metabolism (Fbp2, Ucp2), cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis (Nppa, Ctgf), immune response (Fgl2), and the conduction system of the heart (Dsc2, Ehd4, Hcn2, Hcn4, Scn4a, Scn4b). All of these genes being expressed on WT level in creatine-supplemented mice. Using in silico analysis based on the GEO database we found that most of these candidate genes (Ctgf, Dsc2, Fbp2, Fgl2, Hcn2, Nppa) revealed significant alterations in a WT mouse model of myocardial infarction underlining a pathophysiological relationship between AGAT metabolism and cardiovascular disease. The pristine graphene described with massless Dirac fermion could bear topological insulator state and ferromagnetism via the band structure engineering with various adatoms and proximity effects from heterostructures. In particular, topological Anderson insulator state was theoretically predicted in tight-binding honeycomb lattice with Anderson disorder term. Here, we introduced physi-absorbed Fe-clusters/adatoms on graphene to impose exchange interaction and random lattice disorder, and we observed Anderson insulator state accompanying with Kondo effect and field-induced conducting state upon applying the magnetic field at around a charge neutral point. Furthermore, the emergence of the double peak of resistivity at ν = 0 state indicates spin-splitted edge state with high effective exchange field (>70 T). These phenomena suggest the appearance of topological Anderson insulator state triggered by the induced exchange field and disorder.Human embryonic stem cells (ESCs) offer a promising therapeutic approach for osteoarthritis (OA). The unlimited source of cells capable of differentiating to chondrocytes has potential for repairing damaged cartilage or to generate disease models via gene editing. However their use is limited by the efficiency of chondrogenic differentiation. An improved understanding of the transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of chondrogenesis will enable us to improve hESC chondrogenic differentiation protocols. Small RNA-seq and whole transcriptome sequencing was performed on distinct stages of hESC-directed chondrogenesis. This revealed significant changes in the expression of several microRNAs including upregulation of known cartilage associated microRNAs and those transcribed from the Hox complexes, and the downregulation of pluripotency associated microRNAs. Integration of miRomes and transcriptomes generated during hESC-directed chondrogenesis identified key functionally related clusters of co-expressed microRNAs and protein coding genes, associated with pluripotency, primitive streak, limb development and extracellular matrix. Analysis identified regulators of hESC-directed chondrogenesis such as miR-29c-3p with 10 of its established targets identified as co-regulated 'ECM organisation' genes and miR-22-3p which is highly co-expressed with ECM genes and may regulate these genes indirectly by targeting the chondrogenic regulators SP1 and HDAC4. We identified several upregulated transcription factors including HOXA9/A10/D13 involved in limb patterning and RELA, JUN and NFAT5, which have targets enriched with ECM associated genes. We have developed an unbiased approach for integrating transcriptome and miRome using protein-protein interactions, transcription factor regulation and miRNA target interactions and identified key regulatory networks prominent in hESC chondrogenesis.
