Therefore, the EWS model possesses 60% predictive abilities and an NTSR of 0.25, where the QPS value obtained was 0.373, and that of GSB was 0.005. © 2020 The Author(s).Nano structured Hausmannite (Mn3O4) has efficacious applications in numerous fields, such as catalytic, medical, biosensors, waste water remediation, energy storage devices etc. The potential application in wastewater treatment is due to its distinct structural features combined with fascinating physicochemical properties. Another area of interest is the oxidative properties imparted due to its reduction potential. Larger surface to volume ratio and high reactivity than the bulk form shows great progress as antimicrobial agent to control drug resistant microbial population. The distinct surface morphologies, crystalline forms, reaction conditions and synthetic methods exerts significant impact on the photo catalytic and bactericidal efficiency. Hence, the present paper focuses on a concise review of the multifarious study on synthetic methods of Mn3O4, growth mechanisms, structural forms, phase transformation and phase control, shape and dimensionality. The review also confers its applications towards photo catalytic and bactericidal studies. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Ltd.Using exact computer arithmetic, it is possible to determine the (exact) solution of a numerical model without any rounding error. see more For such purposes, a corresponding system of equations should be exactly defined, either directly or by rationalising the numerically given input data. In the latter case, there is an initial round-off error, but this does not propagate during the solution process. If this system is exactly solved first and then using floating-point arithmetic, the convergence of the numerical method easily follows. As an example, the IRM-CG, which is an alternative to the Conjugate Gradient (CG) method and a special case of the more general Iterated Ritz Method (IRM), is verified. The method is not based on conjugacy; therefore, restarting strategies are not required, while an overrelaxation factor and preconditioning like techniques could be easily adopted. The exact arithmetic approach is introduced by means of a simple example and is then applied to small structural engineering problems. The perturbation of the displacement increment and the different condition numbers of the system matrix are used to check the stability of the algorithm. Interestingly, a large difference in the number of steps between the exact and numerical approaches is detected, even for well-conditioned systems. According to the tests, the IRM-CG may be considered to be stable and useful for not well-posed or well-posed but ill-conditioned models. Because the computer demands and execution time grow enormously with the number of unknowns using this strategy, three possibilities for larger systems are also provided. © 2020 The Author(s).Potential effects of demographics, personality, and ideological attitudes on the number of news sources consumed should be investigated. The number of news sources consumed, in turn, was seen as inverse proxy for the susceptibility to be caught in "filter bubbles" and/or "echo chambers" (online), which are hotly discussed topics also in politics. A sample of 1,681 (n = 557 males) participants provided data on demographics, the Big Five as well as Right-Wing Authoritarianism (RWA) alongside the number of different news sources consumed and current voting preferences. Results showed that age (positively), gender (higher in males), Openness (positively), and RWA (negatively) predicted the number of different news sources consumed. The group of participants consuming news exclusively offline showed highest scores in Conscientiousness and lowest scores in Neuroticism compared to the "news feeds only" and the "news feeds and online" groups. However, less than 5% of the participants exclusively consumed news via news feeds of social networking sites. Participants who stated that they would not vote reported the lowest number of different news sources consumed. These findings reveal first insights into predisposing factors for the susceptibility to be caught in "filter bubbles" and/or "echo chamber" online and how this might be associated with voting preferences. © 2020 The Author(s).Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) has become a problem of a great magnitude as it is a leading cause of death for women according to the World Health Organization. This paper presents a novel Early Warning System (EWS) for locating and protecting potential victims of IPV in which the victims' environment plays a central role. Specifically, based on Markov random fields, our EWS measures the danger through the perception that the victims' surroundings have. This new standpoint is of particular relevance since most of the IPV victims do not have a clear perception of the approaching danger. The EWS has been designed without geographical constrains to be appropriate for use in every country of the world (universal EWS). Importantly, it may be rewritten into computational terms thereby providing a real tool for police investigations. Connections with text mining and sentiment analysis may provide additional devices based on this model. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Ltd.With the emergence of nonfullerene electron acceptors resulting in further breakthroughs in the performance of organic solar cells, there is now an urgent need to understand their degradation mechanisms in order to improve their intrinsic stability through better material design. In this study, we present quantitative evidence for a common root cause of light-induced degradation of polymernonfullerene and polymerfullerene organic solar cells in air, namely, a fast photo-oxidation process of the photoactive materials mediated by the formation of superoxide radical ions, whose yield is found to be strongly controlled by the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels of the electron acceptors used. Our results elucidate the general relevance of this degradation mechanism to both polymerfullerene and polymernonfullerene blends and highlight the necessity of designing electron acceptor materials with sufficient electron affinities to overcome this challenge, thereby paving the way toward achieving long-term solar cell stability with minimal device encapsulation. There are no established surgical methods to treat this condition, and only a few reports have been published on surgical techniques. Furthermore, postoperative complications, such as restenosis, often require reoperation. A 19-year-old woman was pointed out cervical hypoplasia and referred to our hospital for further examination and treatment. A pelvic examination revealed that the vagina had a slight recession with a blind end. Transrectal ultrasound and pelvic magnetic resonance imaging revealed congenital vaginal agenesis and cervical hypoplasia. Elective surgery was performed after reshaping the vagina. A radical surgery was performed 10 months later after sufficient self-dilation by using Frank's technique in an outpatient setting. At first, we approached by laparoscopically to correct autologous peritoneum and to bladder detach, then the cervical canal was identified. Next, a skin biopsy punch was used several times to hollow out the cervical tissue to shape and expand the cervical canal. A catheter was then placed in the uterus and autologous peritoneum was wrapped around it and fixed to the cervical canal. The catheter was removed 6 weeks postoperatively, and the patient continued dilating her vagina until she was able to have sexual intercourse, and then stopped the self-dilation. Eight months postoperatively, the patient did not report any menstrual irregularities. It is important to make corrections to prevent restenosis of the vagina and cervical canal and prevent the symptoms from recurring. Make use of autologous peritoneum as graft onto the cervical canal is effective method for the treatment of cervicovaginal atresia.Gastric volvulus is a rare entity. Its diagnosis remains tricky and challenging. In recent years, the incidence of gastric volvulus has shown a rise in postbariatric surgery patient. Several cases were reported of gastric remnant volvulus post-laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and laparoscopic gastric bypass. Laparoscopic gastric greater curvature plication is a new and experimental restrictive technique for weight loss. Several of its complications were reported in the literature but never was a case of volvulus postgastric plication reported, as far as we know. We present this rare case with an atypical presentation and go through similar cases in the literature.Introduction This interactive didactic session is designed for first-year medical students to explore the common clinical symptom of headache and its various management strategies. The session provides an opportunity to cover a variety of drugs, mechanisms of action, drug-drug interactions, and routes of administration in a single 50-minute time frame. Methods Using a modified case-based approach, we designed an interactive session for 41 first-year medical students. Students prepared for the session using basic learning objectives and a table of drugs that treat headache pain. In class, we distributed a patient scenario and a series of discussion questions to explore headache management. We assessed student performance using questions purchased from the National Board of Medical Examiners and student perceptions using both qualitative and quantitative data collected from faculty and end-of-block evaluations. Results Student performance on purchased questions related to content was significantly increased when compared to the national average (n = 5; 90.6% ± 6.0% vs. 82.6% ± 8.5%; p = .0052). Student perceptions of the overall quality of the faculty, content presentation, and material were positive (4.4 out of 5.0). Two themes emerged in the end-of-block evaluations Students commented positively on the prereading materials, and students commented on the need to address underlying physiology associated with the discussed pharmacology. Discussion This flexible activity can be delivered in a short time (50 minutes) by a single faculty member in a variety of curricular structures. Our data demonstrate strong student performance and suggest that incorporating additional content would enhance delivery. Patients rely on doctors for dietary advice and to serve as role models for health behaviors. However, nutrition content is significantly underrepresented in medical school curricula. Methods We created an interactive session to address this gap during the ambulatory medicine rotation for senior medical students and delivered it as a 90- to 120-minute interactive monthly didactic session. We focused on reviewing evidence-based diet patterns for weight loss and hypertension and on use of practical tools for diet assessment and counseling. Immediately and 1 month after delivery, we administered a knowledge and confidence assessment survey to evaluate the session impact. Results We incorporated the session into the regular didactic time of the clerkship. Sixty-six students attended over an 8-month period, of whom 42 completed the survey. Immediately and 1 month after delivery, participants reported statistically significant improvements (p less then .
