The TRFIA based on SAG1-GRA8 antigen showed better discrimination between seropositive and seronegative cats (p less then 0.001), as well as a better area under the curve (0.95), sensitivity (93.6%), and specificity (89.5%) values for the optimal cut-off, versus the other TRFIAs. In addition, SAG1-GRA8 TRFIA showed substantial agreement (kappa value = 0.78) and a moderate significant correlation (Spearman's correlation r = 0.62, p less then 0.001) compared with the reference techniques. On the other hand, since plasma samples were obtained from 101 cats in Bangkok city and four of them were Neospora caninum seropositive by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFAT), this is the first time that anti-N. caninum antibodies are detected in cats in Thailand. In conclusion, our study highlights that the TRFIA with TgSAG1-GRA8 antigen is an accurate and recommended diagnostic technique for detecting anti-T. gondii antibodies in cats.
Persons involved with the justice system have an elevated risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) yet remain marginalized from treatment. Efforts to eliminate HCV will require targeted interventions within the justice system effective at providing diagnosis and treatment.

We implemented a novel HCV screening and treatment intervention for persons under community supervision in Rhode Island, USA during April 2018--March 2020. Participants received rapid point-of-care HCV antibody testing onsite and referral to community laboratory and treatment services as indicated. We assessed the HCV care cascade to identify areas for improvement.

Overall, 483 individuals were screened for HCV antibody; 85 (18%) were positive. A minority of participants with positive HCV antibody tests (n=25/85, 29%) presented to community laboratories for confirmatory testing. Among participants that received HCV viral load results and linked to a treatment provider (n=12), four initiated treatment, three had record of completing treatment, and two were confirmed to have achieved cure.

Community supervision remains an important venue for case identification but substantial barriers to accessing HCV treatment exist. Different conceptions of inelastic scattering and its effects on wave interference have led to radically different expectations about the degree of phase contrast vs. depth. Here we examine the information available from bright field phase contrast images of small crystalline particles on the top or bottom of a thick support. The support is an aluminium foil which has strong plasmon resonances that cause a large proportion of the electron beam to lose energy in transit. Phase contrast micrographs of the atomic lattice of two ensembles of platinum particles were measured in an energy loss window corresponding to the first plasmon resonance. The signal measured for particles on top was equal to that for particles on the bottom of the foil to within a 99% confidence interval, and the measurements exclude other models of depth dependent phase contrast in the literature to >5σ. These observations are consistent with quantum theory which considers dynamical effects as independent of event sequence and is distinct from the "top-bottom effect" observed in amplitude contrast. We thus confirm that phase contrast using inelastically scattered electrons can be obtained equally well from particles within any layer of a thick specimen.We have studied the fading of electron diffraction spots from two-dimensional (2D) crystals of paraffin (C44H90), purple membrane (bacteriorhodopsin) and aquaporin 4 (AQP4) at stage temperatures between 4K and 100K. We observed that the diffraction spots at resolutions between 3 Å and 20 Å fade more slowly at liquid-helium temperatures compared to liquid-nitrogen temperatures, by a factor of between 1.2 and 1.8, depending on the specimens. If the reduction in the effective rate of radiation damage for 2D crystals at liquid-helium temperature (as measured by spot fading) can be shown to extend to macromolecular assemblies embedded in amorphous ice, this would suggest that valuable improvements to electron cryomicroscopy (cryoEM) of biological specimens could be made by reducing the temperature of the specimens under irradiation below what is obtainable using standard liquid-nitrogen cryostats.We investigate potential improvements in using electron cryomicroscopy to image thick specimens with high-resolution phase contrast imaging. In particular, using model experiments, electron scattering theory, Monte Carlo and multislice simulations, we determine the potential for improving electron cryomicrographs of proteins within a cell using chromatic aberration (Cc) correction. We show that inelastically scattered electrons lose a quantifiable amount of spatial coherence as they transit the specimen, yet can be used to enhance the signal from thick biological specimens (in the 1000 to 5000 Å range) provided they are imaged close to focus with an achromatic lens. This loss of information quantified here, which we call "specimen induced decoherence", is a fundamental limit on imaging biological molecules in situ. We further show that with foreseeable advances in transmission electron microscope technology, it should be possible to directly locate and uniquely identify sub-100 kDa proteins without the need for labels, in a vitrified specimen taken from a cell.Child maltreatment and end-of-life care independently represent two of the most emotion-laden and uncomfortable aspects of pediatric patient care. The present review identified twenty-two studies reporting associations between PTSD and driving behaviors. Among these, longitudinal designs (k = 3) and studies using objective driving performance measures (e.g., simulators) (k = 2) were rare. Most studies (k = 18) relied on brief screener measures of PTSD status/symptoms or a prior chart diagnosis, while few used a standardized structured interview measure to determine PTSD status (k = 4), and only a small number of studies assessed PTSD symptom clusters (k = 7). PTSD was most frequently associated with increased rates of hostile driving behaviors (e.g., cutting off others), unintentional driving errors (e.g., lapses in attention) and negative thoughts and emotions experienced behind the wheel. Findings regarding risk of motor vehicle accident and driving-related legal issues were variable, however relatively few studies (k = 5) explored these constructs. However, the lack of research on transferability of conflict-based crash risk models, which refers to applying the developed crash risk estimation models to a set of external sites, can reduce their appeal for large-scale traffic safety evaluations. Therefore, this study investigates the transferability of multivariate peak-over threshold models for estimating crash frequency-by-severity. In particular, the study proposes two transferability approaches (i) an uncalibrated approach involving a direct application of the uncalibrated base model to the target sites and (ii) a threshold calibration approach involving calibration of conflict thresholds of the conflict indicators. In the latter approach, the conflict thresholds of the Modified Time-To-Collision (MTTC) and Delta-V indicators were calibrated using local data from the target sites. Finally, the two transferability approaches were compared with a complete re-estimatiferior fits and less precise crash estimates than the two transferability approaches since they utilize fewer traffic conflict extremes in their development than the larger dataset utilized in base model development. Therefore, the study results can significantly advance the applicability of traffic conflict models for crash risk estimation at transport facilities.
