Although it is too early to know the full impact, practicing pediatric clinicians are well-positioned to help young people recover and thrive despite challenges presented. This article will review the impact of COVID-19 on child mental health and give practical interventions to foster resilience in youth and their families.
In the etiology of functional chest pain (FCP), parental personality traits are worth considering in the context of the biopsychosocial model. The αlpha factor sub-dimension of the five-factor personality model (5FPM) includes agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism. There is increasing evidence that this dimension may be related to psychosomatic diseases. It was aimed to investigate how maternal personality traits affect adolescents with FCP. The hypothesis was determined that adolescents diagnosed with FCP can have lower quality of life and be more depressive/anxious and their mothers can have factor-α personality traits and be more depressive/anxious.

The sample of this single-center, cross-sectional, case-control study consisted of 25 adolescents with FCP and their parents. The control group consisted of 35 age and sex matched healthy adolescents and their parents. Psychopathology was screened using the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia-Present and Lifetime Version (Kime that mother's alpha factor personality traits may be one of the factors that contribute to the presence of FCP.
Laparoscopy for gastric cancer has not been as popular compared with other digestive surgeries, with conflicting reports on outcomes. The aim of this study focuses on the surgical techniques comparing open and laparoscopy by assessing the morbi-mortality and long-term complications after gastrectomy.

A retrospective study (2013-2018) was performed on a prospective national cohort (PMSI). All patients undergoing resection for gastric cancer with a partial gastrectomy (PG) or total gastrectomy (TG) were included. Overall morbidity at 90 post-operative days and long-term results were the main outcomes. The groups (open and laparoscopy) were compared using a propensity score and volume activity matching after stratification on resection type (TG or PG).

A total of 10,343 patients were included. The overall 90-day mortality and morbidity were 7% and 45%, with reintervention required in 9.1%. High centre volume was associated with improved outcomes. There was no difference in population characteristics between groups after matching. An overall benefit for a laparoscopic approach after PG was found for morbidity (Open=39.4% vs. Laparoscopy=32.6%, p=0.01), length of stay (Open=14[10-21] vs. Laparoscopy=11[8-17] days, p<0.0001). For TG, increased reintervention rate (Open=10.8% vs. Laparoscopy=14.5%, p=0.04) and increased oesophageal stricture rate (HR=2.54[1.67-3.85], p<0.001) were encountered after a laparoscopic approach. No benefit on mortality was found for laparoscopic approach in both type of resections after adjusted analysis.

The heterodimeric structure consisting of two subunits, free from disulfide bonds, was determined by native-PAGE analysis followed by zymography. The enzyme was maximally active at pH 4.0 and 70°C, and Vmax, Km, and kcat values were 0.078 units mg-1 protein, 2.22 mM, and 13.29 min-1, respectively, employing p-nitrophenyl-β-d-glucopyranoside as the substrate. The high content of glycine determined by amino acid analysis implies that the enzyme possesses flexible conformations and interacts with cell membranes and walls in nature. Incidental breast cancers can be detected on chest computed tomography (CT) scans. With the use of deep learning, the sensitivity of incidental breast cancer detection on chest CT would improve. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of a deep learning algorithm to detect breast cancers on chest CT and to validate the results in the internal and external datasets.

This retrospective study collected 1170 preoperative chest CT scans after the diagnosis of breast cancer for algorithm development (n=1070), internal test (n=100), and external test (n=100).
