We examined the direct and indirect links between COVID-19, maternal anxiety symptoms, and child behavior problems as well as the mediation-moderation links of mothers' anxiety symptoms and mentalization skills with the prediction of child behavior problems. A sample of 140 Israeli mothers with preschool children comprised the study's two groups A COVID-19 group (n = 53), recruited shortly after the pandemic outbreak, and a pre-COVID-19 group (n = 87), recruited prior to the pandemic. Mothers completed online questionnaires regarding their own anxiety symptoms (BSI anxiety subscale) and their children's internalizing and externalizing behaviors (CBCL). Maternal mentalization was assessed via the mind-mindedness representational procedure. TDO inhibitor Findings showed that mothers in the COVID-19 group experienced more anxiety symptoms and perceived their children as having more externalizing and internalizing behaviors compared to mothers in the pre-COVID-19 group. Mothers' anxiety symptoms mediated the effect of the pandemic on children's behaviors so that the higher the mothers' anxiety, the more externalizing and internalizing behaviors among the children. Mothers' mentalization moderated the association between the pandemic and the children's externalizing behaviors. Specifically, when mothers showed higher mentalization skills (higher mind-mindedness), the indirect effect of anxiety on the link between COVID-19 and children's externalizing behaviors was weaker compared to when mothers showed lower mentalization skills (lower mind-mindedness). The implications of these findings for preventive and treatment interventions that aim to reduce maternal anxiety and enhance mentalization skills to prevent children's behavior problems in the context of COVID-19 are discussed. As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our societies went into a lockdown model and many organizations required or permitted their employees to work from home. As a result, employees need to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic while they work from home, providing an opportunity to examine how COVID-19 prevention experiences influence those who are working from home. Based on the interpersonal self-regulation perspective, we propose that employees who perceive having more disagreements with their partners over COVID-19 prevention measures are more likely to experience a reduction in their identification with the partner which is subsequently associated with their negative work outcomes through emotional exhaustion. Results from a two-wave survey study with a sample of 282 employees who worked from home during the COVID-19 pandemic supported our predictions perceived self-partner disagreements over COVID-19 prevention measures related to a reduction in identification with the partner, which was subsequently associated with exhausted regulatory resources and undermined work outcomes. Furthermore, these negative effects were particularly salient for individuals who were not married. Theoretical and practical implications for family-to-work interference and working from home in times of crisis are discussed. In the present article, we aimed at construing a new quantitative measure of children's agency in Palestine. Within a socio-ecological and culturally and contextually informed perspective, the study introduces the development of a new instrument to investigate and evaluate children's agentic practices within their living contexts and their daily lives. First, we evaluated the model of measurement of WCAAS-Pal using a sequential exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Following the principles of testing a quantitative measure in the context of the dual-frame sampling method, the process of validating the quantitative measure was conducted on a group of 1166 Palestinian children aged 9 to 14 years (m = 11.58, sd = 1.54). Second, a sample of 251 Palestinian children aged between 9 and 14 years (m = 11.82, sd = 1.53) was used to compute the reliability of the instrument along with both convergent and divergent validity using the Children Hope Scale and the Children Revised Impact of Event Scale-Arabic Version measures, respectively. The results of the EFA suggested a baseline seven-factor structure to be further assessed via CFA. a complex web of agency domains that might contribute to the child psychological functioning when forced to leave in conditions of ongoing threat and military violence emerged from the analysis. The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unusually stressful situation for many people around the world. Due to the restrictions, many have been isolated in their homes, and having a responsive partner may have become even more important. The present study aimed to investigate (1) whether there were any differences in social and work-related stressors and changes in negative mood during the COVID-19 pandemic as a function of marital status, and (2) whether perceived partner responsiveness can attenuate the associations between COVID-19-related stressors and changes in negative mood. The participants were 2,400 Brazilian adults recruited via the Internet, using a virtual sampling strategy. They were assigned to three distinct groups based on their relationship status. The results showed that a relatively large proportion of the sample reported increased levels of negative mood, and that married/cohabitating couples reported low levels of negative change in mood compared to single participants. We also found that partner responsiveness attenuated the association between stress and mental health, but only for people who were dating. Our study contributes new insights by showing that effects on mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic are dependent on relationship type and perceived partner responsiveness.Hydrogel surfaces are of great interest in applications ranging from cell scaffolds and transdermal drug-delivery patches to catheter coatings and contact lenses. In this work, we propose a method to control the surface structure of hydrogels, thereby tailoring their frictional properties. The method is based on oxygen inhibition of the free-radical polymerization reaction during synthesis and enables (i) control of friction over more than an order in magnitude and (ii) spatial control of friction as either a continuous gradient or a distinct pattern. The presented method has successfully been applied to acrylamide-, diacrylate- and methacrylate-based gels, illustrating the universality of the presented method, and its potential use in the above-mentioned applications.African food systems are a rich and varied tapestry of production systems, crops, seed, territorial markets, cultures, biodiversity and ecologies. As the UN Food Systems Summit worked to retrench the many pathologies that have systematically eroded African food systems, African civil society organizations mobilized to push back. In the African regional people's countermobilization, participatory dialogues opened space for continent-wide articulations of a future built on peoples' choices and control of natural resources, territorially-embedded solutions, the human rights of all, family farming, and peasant agroecology.Poverty eradication is a realistic requirement for the addressing of the urban-rural development imbalance. It consolidates the achievements of the poverty alleviation, and accelerates the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In research that deals with poverty, qualitative analysis is often used to study the connection between a single influencing factor and poverty reduction, and to solve regional poverty through government measures. However, these studies usually ignore the multidimensional nature of poverty, and the fact that poverty alleviation also needs to be approached from multiple perspectives. By constructing a theoretical framework of poverty alleviation performance from the perspective of sustainable development, this study selects contiguous poverty-stricken areas in the Hunan Province, China as the empirical study area, constructs an evaluation index system from the three dimensions of economic development, infrastructure and people's livelihood security, and selectsn the concentrated and contiguous poverty-stricken areas of the Hunan Province is the result of the combined effects of multiple factors. 'Population' is the dominant factor affecting the performance of poverty alleviation, 'land' is the basic factor that causes the spatial differentiation of poverty alleviation performance, and 'industry' is the key factor for the improvement of the poverty alleviation ability.Skill acquisition with required competencies as defined by the National Medical Commission for the postgraduate surgical residents can happen in a step-wise manner from novice or advanced beginner to competent levels. This requires well-defined program-specific objectives, teaching-learning and assessment methods as per the competency-based medical education curriculum. Various modalities of teaching for the residents are adapted during the COVID pandemic to maintain the continuum of learning. In this study, we have attempted to develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of acquiring laparoscopic surgical skills using advanced simulators and with large live animal in a real-life situation by a modular training approach. This skill-based program was developed and implemented for final year General Surgery postgraduate residents of Yenepoya Medical College for training laparoscopic surgical competencies. The training was conducted at Advanced Simulation Centres of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, Karnataka, India. Three training modules were prepared based on the competency-based medical education curriculum for incremental training with advanced simulators and large live animals in a real-life situation which included the sessions on briefing, scenarios, simulations, hands-on activities, debriefing, feedback, and assessment methods. Assessment after the modular training showed statistically significant improvement in their scores, and they scaled up their skill acquisition ladder after each module. The residents and faculty felt that integration from different specialties has increased their confidence levels and communication skills, exploring team dynamics with 11 mentorship to make them competent emphasizing the effectiveness of simulation-based training even during the pandemic.Composite tissue allotransplantation (CTA) is the culmination of progress in transplantation, allowing the reconstruction of the hand in amputees. Worldwide, more than 100 procedures have been performed. The aim of this work was to understand the hand allotransplantation approach, making known current aspects, risks, and benefits. A PubMed research was realized between October 2018 and March 2019, including terms like "Hand transplantation" AND "Composite tissue allotransplantation," "Hand transplantation" AND "Functional outcomes," "Hand transplantation" AND "Immunosuppression," "Hand prosthetics," "Hand Transplantation" AND "Ethics." There were included papers between 1995 and 2018, with English language, amputee human adults, systematic reviews, and clinical studies. Seventy-two papers were fully evaluated. There are technical aspects that influence the procedure like team coordination or surgical technique. It requires a long-life treatment, which has risks such as toxicity or infections. However, it allows the recovery of fine movements, and independence, to perform detailed tasks.
