27 [1.43-3.61], and 1.91 [1.26-2.90], respectively). Additionally, osteoblastic and mixed type of bone metastasis showed a significantly lower risk of SREs compared with the osteolytic lesion (HR [95% CI]; 0.39 [0.21-0.72], and 0.31 [0.15-0.63], respectively). These factors also showed a significant association with the risk of SREs in multivariate analysis.

We revealed that osteolytic bone metastasis, low serum albumin, and elevated serum ALP are risk factors for SREs in patients with bone metastasis from NSCLC.

Despite wide acknowledgement of differences in levels of support and health outcomes between urban and rural areas, there is a lack of research that explicitly examines these differences in relation to self-management in people affected by cancer following treatment. This scoping review aimed to map the existing literature that examines self-management in people affected by cancer who were post-treatment from rural and urban areas.

Arksey and O'Malley's framework for conducting a scoping review was utilised. Keyword searches were performed in the following Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Scopus and Web of Science. Supplementary searching activities were also conducted.

A total of 438 articles were initially retrieved and 249 duplicates removed leaving 192 articles that were screened by title, abstract and full text. Nine met the eligibility criteria and were included in the review. They were published from 2011 to 2018 and conducted in the USA (n = 6), Australia (n = 2) and Canada (n = 1). None of the studies offered insight into self-managing cancer within a rural-urban context in the UK. Studies used qualitative (n = 4), mixed methods (n = 4) and quantitative designs (n = 1).

If rural and urban populations define their health in different ways as some of the extant literature suggests, then efforts to support self-management in both populations will need to be better informed by robust evidence given the increasing focus on patient-centred care. It is important to consider if residency can be a predictor of as well as a barrier or facilitator to self-management.

In these places, which are difficult to access, remote sensing is an important alternative, especially considering the use of active remote sensors such as the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), which has less restriction regarding the presence of clouds over the study area. Three backscatter thresholds were defined (σ) for the identification of the physical state of the water of the lakes of the study region, applied in Sentinel 1A SAR (S1A) images under Horizontal Horizontal (HH) polarization and Interferometric Wide (IW) imaging mode. These images, along with the air temperature data obtained by the Interim Re-Analysis (ERA-Interim) atmospheric reanalysis model, provided the evidence for the interpretation of the freezing and thawing periods of the lakes. The thresholds applied for the definition of the physical state of the lake water were greater than - 14 dB for frozen water, between - 14 and - 17 dB for the surface, with up to 60% of their frozen area, and less than - 17 dB for open water. The temporal analysis revealed that the lakes start to thaw in October, become completely thawed in February, and freeze again in March. Nevertheless, it can be said that the S1A satellite allows a satisfactory identification of the liquid and solid phases of the water in the lakes of the study region.
A new hyaluronic acid (HA) was appraised to improve forehead horizontal lines (FHL). Histological analysis correlated the gel distribution with clinical findings and also with wrinkle depth, 48h and 12months after HA application.

The new filler composed by 24mg/ml of HA cross-linked with BDDE 2.0ppm was injected into the subcutaneous fat, just beneath the dermis, through a retrograde backflow injection technique applied in sequence. Biopsies were taken with a 3.0-mm-diameter skin punch before HA application, 48h and 12months after HA application for histological evaluation.

Subcutaneous application created a compact cylindrical filament as pattern of gel distribution, which acted as strut raising the FHL to the level of the surrounding tissues. Diameter average of the filament 48h after HA application was 1.18mm and at month twelve 0.34mm. The residual amount of the gel at month twelve ensured the long acting of the HA into the subcutaneous fat. FHL depth of 251.83µm before HA application and 190.20µm after 12months indicated that the residual amount of gel at month twelve still projected FHL.

High cohesivity of HA and low density of forehead subcutaneous fat caused the gel to take the form of a compact cylindrical filament. The small amount of gel still presenting into the subcutaneous fat 12months after application validated the long acting of the HA. Evidence-based analysis showed that this new filler might be considered a safe alternative for improvement in the FHL.

Rhinoplasty is one of the common plastic surgery procedures which has a high rate in Iran. There are several tools for assessing the outcomes and quality of life after this surgical procedure which rhinoplasty outcome evaluation (ROE) questionnaire and rhinoplasty health inventory and nasal outcomes are two of them. The aim of this study was to investigate the aesthetic and functional outcomes of rhinoplasty by the aid of ROE and RHINO scales in patients who presented to a referral center in Iran.

This prospective, quasi-experimental study was performed on patients who referred to the plastic surgery clinic of Imam Khomeini hospital complex during 2017 to 2019 and underwent open rhinoplasty. ROE and RHINO questionnaires were filled by patients before and 6months after the surgery. Surgical outcomes and aesthetic satisfaction rate were evaluated in different age groups, genders and educational levels. The data were analyzed by version 21 of SPSS software.

ROE score increased from 51.27 ± 10.54 to 79.6 ± er to the Table of Contents or the online Instructions to Authors www.springer.com/00266 .
Although the effect of normal aging on the appearance of the ear lobule is well known and defined, this often a neglected aspect of facial rejuvenation. Rhytidectomy offers a great opportunity to surgically enhance the aging earlobe. The objective of this study was to provide a step-by-step description of the execution of the three-triangle rotation flap technique for aesthetic ear lobule reduction.

The three-triangle rotation flap technique is described in a step-by-step fashion and illustrated by photographs and videos. All ear lobule reduction procedures that took place at our practice from December 2016 to February 2020 were retrospectively reviewed.

A total of 16 patients underwent bilateral ear lobule reduction during face lift, neck lift, or both, and 7 patients underwent bilateral lobule reduction in isolation. None of the patients experienced complications, and revisions were not performed or required.

The three-triangle rotation flap technique relies on simple principles that can be adjusted to address all shapes and degrees of true ear lobule ptosis, as well as patient desire. It is employed in isolation or synchronous with rhytidectomy. When performed during rhytidectomy, it provides lobule stability and fixation.

Sarcomas are among the most refractory malignant tumors and often recur as pulmonary metastasis. Although the presence of a high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been associated with the prognosis of several malignancies, the relationship between the NLR and sarcoma with pulmonary metastasis is unclear. We investigated the impact of the NLR in patients who underwent surgical resection for metastatic lung tumors from various sarcomas.

The subjects of this retrospective study were 158 patients with metastatic lung tumors from various sarcomas, who underwent initial pulmonary metastasectomy between 2006 and 2015. We examined the clinicopathological variables, including the NLR and the characteristics of surgical procedures. Survival was estimated by the Kaplan-Meier method and prognostic factors were evaluated by multivariate analysis.

Multivariate analysis revealed significantly better survival of the group with an NLR < 2.26 immediately before the most recent pulmonary metastasectomy, in addition to such factors as the largest resected lesion being < 22mm, a disease-free interval of > 2years, and 3 or more pulmonary metastasectomies.

The NLR immediately before the most recent pulmonary metastasectomy is a novel independent prognostic factor, which may be helpful when considering repeated pulmonary metastasectomy.

To evaluate late complications in a large cohort of patients undergoing robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) with totally intracorporeal urinary diversion (ICUD).

We prospectively enrolled patients who underwent RARC and ICUD between August 2012 and June 2019. We excluded patients with Ejection fraction < 36%, retinal vasculopathy, ventriculoperitoneal shunts, and those treated without curative intent. All complications and their onset date have been recorded, defined, and graded according to Clavien classification adapted for radical cystectomy.

210 patients were included, 76% of whom were men, witha mean age of 62years. Urinary diversions used were Padua Ileal Bladder (PIB) in 80% of cases, and ileal conduit (IC) in 20% of patients (generally older and with more comorbidity). selleck The mean follow-up was 30 ± 22months. The stenosis rate of uretero-ileal anastomosis was 14%, while a reduction in eGFR (≥ 20%) was observed in about half of the cases. UTIs occurred in 37% of the patients, especially in the first 12months.
