Accumulating studies report that levels of mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and red cell distribution width (RDW) are associated with outcomes in cancer patients, while studies including MCV and RDW in chordoma are lacking so far. Therefore, our study aims to investigate the prognostic impact of MCV and RDW on survival in skull base chordoma patients.

Levels of preoperative MCV and RDW in 187 primary skull base chordoma patients were collected. X-tile software was used to find the cutoff values of MCV and RDW. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) analyses were performed using the Kaplan-Meier methods, Cox analysis, and nomogram model.

Low MCV level (MCV <84.2) was more commonly observed in classical chordoma patients (
=0.022). High RDW level (RDW≥12.7) was correlated with older patient age (
=0.022) and a tough tumor texture (
=0.035). Low MCV level and high RDW level were associated with poor PFS (
=0.045 and 0.007, respectively) and OS (
=0.023 and <0.001, respectively). Multivariate Cox analysis demonstrated that RDW was an independent prognostic indicator for both PFS (
=0.001) and OS (
<0.001). Importantly, a nomogram based on RDW and clinical predictors showed satisfactory performance for PFS and OS prediction (concordance index, C-index 0.684 and 0.744, respectively).

Our data was first to reveal the prognostic role of RDW in skull base chordoma, and identified the use of RDW may contribute to a more accurate prognosis judgment and personalized treatment decision.

Given the importance of "Environment," "Health," and "Education," as key pillars for the achievement of sustainable development, the education for environmental health is evolving into a main component of current strategies against environmental health threats, such as climate change and urban air pollution. Environmental Health Education, which must be considered as a strategical response against environmental degradation, offers vast capacity for innovation alongside every educational stage. For instance, the application of new technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality applications, the adoption of innovative interdisciplinary educational approaches, and the incorporation of Arts are evolving into a new era's educational perspectives. All the new trends in formal, non-formal and informal Environmental Health Education should be captured and assessed, in favor of protecting both local and global natural environment, human and animal health, and promoting sustainability.
Household flooring has been associated with diarrhea, but few studies have examined the association between childhood diarrhea and type of household flooring considering the individual and community level characteristics. We aimed to determine if household flooring was associated with childhood diarrhea among children 0 to 23 months of age in Ethiopia.

Data from the fourth round of the Ethiopian Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) conducted in 2016 is used to carry out the analysis. The EDHS was large, cross-sectional by design and nationally representative. In the current analysis, we included children 0 to 23 months of age (n = 4552) with their mother and 636 community clusters. To get information about the occurrence of diarrhea, mothers/caregivers were asked, "Has (NAME) had diarrhea in the last 2 weeks?" The response to this question was recorded as, "yes" or "no." A multilevel binary logistic regression model was fitted to identify factors associated with childhood diarrhea.

The overall prevalence of diarrhea among children 0 to 23 months of age in Ethiopia was 15.5% (95% CI [confidence interval] 14.4-16.5). No association was found between childhood diarrhea and type of household flooring (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 1.05, 95% CI 0.59-1.88). The adjusted odds also showed that the age of the child, having an acute respiratory infection (ARI), and size of the child at birth were associated with diarrhea.

We found no association between childhood diarrhea and the type of household flooring. Further research with strong research design is needed to determine the effect of household flooring on childhood diarrhea.

Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) is a rare form of breast cancer with a poor prognosis. IBC is characterized by florid lymphovascular tumor emboli in the skin and the parenchyma of the breast. We hypothesized that the formation of these emboli/clusters plays a pivotal role in IBC metastasis and its rapid progression, and that their structure and function may be a key to identifying molecular biological differences between IBC and non IBC.

Mechanical methods were used to mimic the lymph fluid viscosity by adding 2.25% of PEG8000 to the media. Clusters were obtained for IBC tumor cell lines (SUM149 and IBC-3), non IBC tumor cell lines (MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-468, and MCF7), and a non-tumorigenic human mammary epithelial cell line (MCF10A). Clusters were analyzed by light microscopy, and then prepared for and observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Significant differences were seen between IBC and non IBC clusters. The TEM analysis revealed that IBC cells harbored numerous microvilli and microvesicles, both on the free outer surface and inside the cluster. Microvilli from IBC cell clusters were noted at higher density and were longer than those of non IBC cell clusters.

IBC tumor cell clusters exhibited distinct ultrastructural features characterized by the presence of long, crowded microvilli and numerous microvesicles. These microvilli may play an important role in the biology and aggressiveness of IBC.

The multigenerational health considerations and negative economic impacts related to the opioid epidemic are many. Increasing numbers of opioid-related fatalities are bolstered by barriers related to access to evidence-based treatment. Ohio is ranked second in the country for number of opioid-related deaths, and for many their treatment needs remain unmet due to impaired access to effective treatment, in rural, medically underserved areas of the state.

The goal of this study was to assess opioid use disorder treatment barriers in order to increase access to evidence-based treatment, wrap around services, and harm reduction efforts to support the reintegration of persons with substance use disorder back into society and subsequently reduce opioid fatalities in a rural, medically underserved region of Ohio.

As part of a larger mixed-methods study design where a community health survey was randomly distributed to residents in a rural county in Ohio, this study used qualitative methods to triangulate findinmployment.
Long non-coding RNAs (lnc-RNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) play key roles in the development of stroke. However, the role of lncRNA FTX in stroke is limited known.

Real-time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) assays were used to measure the expression of lncRNA FTX, miR-342-3p and SPI1. Western blot assays were employed to examine SPI1 protein expression. The cell viability was measured by CCk8 assay. Cell migration was detected by wound healing assays and transwell assays. Angiogenesis was evaluated by matrigel tube formation assays. The interaction between lncRNA FTX, miR-342-3p and SPI1 was confirmed by site-directed mutagenesis and luciferase assays.

The expression of lncRNA FTX was down-regulated in blood sample from stroke patients, MAO mice tissues and OGD/R treated BMECs. Overexpression of lncRNA FTX could increase the cell viability, migration and angiogenesis in OGD/R treated BMECs. LncRNA FTX could act as a ceRNA for miR-342-3p. Furthermore, miR-342-3p inhibition increased migration and angiogenesis in OGD/R-induced BMECs. Dual-luciferase reporter assay verified that SPI1 was a target of miR-342-3p.

In summary, lncRNA FTX enhanced the angiogenesis in stroke by acting as a sponge of miR-342-3p to regulate the expression of SPI1 level.

To investigate the associations among homocysteine (Hcy), inflammation and cognitive impairment in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Patients included were enrolled from a subgroup of China National Stroke Registry-III (CNSR-III). We used a Chinese version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) to screen for cognitive impairment. We used high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level to reflect the inflammatory status, which was assessed at baseline together with Hcy concentration. The primary outcome was the incidence of post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) at 3 months after AIS and TIA. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between Hcy and hsCRP, and their effects on cognition.

We enrolled 1466 patients with a median age of 62 (54-70) years old, including 895 (61.05%) patients with elevated Hcy levels, 466 (31.79%) with increased hsCRP concentrations, and 755 (51.50%) with PSCI. In the group of patients with hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy), higher hsCRP levels were related to cognitive impairment, whether or not adjusted for multiple potential confounders (crude OR 1.
