Medical errors have emerged as an important problem in terms of negative outcomes for patients that can be associated with Healthcare Workers' behaviour. This study aimed to measure the awareness of the main medical issues in the medical personnel of the Ciracas General Hospital, recently opened after the reorganization and enlargement of an existing Primary Healthcare Outpatients Center.
A qualitative research (interviews, focus group discussions and direct observations) was conducted on the most frequent errors occurring in daily practice and on the main causes of these errors.
The main errors identified by the questioned staff are wrong medications and wrong processes in drug administration, demonstrating the lack of awareness among the staff of the many other causes of medical errors and, consequently, the absence of corrective interventions. There are nine types of errors that the medical staff failed to recognize as medical errors. They feel and refer that they had never heard, seen, or experienced any of the nine medical errors in the inpatient units.
The majority of the medical staff have poor knowledge about medical errors. It is essential to foster the growth of patient safety, eliminating the "blaming" culture in order to increase the quality of this institution.

Healthcare environments are one of the most complex and demanding fields of work. Scientific, technological and research developments along with new discoveries within health promotion and prevention strategies are increasingly requiring a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. Therefore, it is likely that the current professions will need to be significantly adapted to accommodate new and more specialized roles.
To present an overview of the current educational and training courses of the emerging professions, such as hospital planner, physician-engineer, doctor-architect, nurse-architect or engineer, we review the present global training courses (BSc, MSc, specialization and PhD courses) related to healthcare design focusing on the fields of Medicine and Nursing, Architecture and Engineering sciences.
The paper analyses the literature review and website analysis about active teaching programs and courses. Several academic institutions offer BSc, MSc and PhD degree programs in Healthcare Design, Environmental and Building Hygiene, and Public Health. In addition, there are several professional postgraduate courses, either in classroom, hybrid-based or online.
A considerable number of international training experiences addresses the topic of training multidisciplinary professionals. Further in-depth investigations are needed to examine the content, teaching format and impact of the courses, student outcomes and professional careers, fields of interest and the degree of collaborations with other institutions.

Physical activity is considered a fundamental element for health promotion, also during adolescence, contributing to the psycho-physical well-being of the individuals. Here we evaluate the relationship between risk behavior and physical activity habits of adolescents and their parents.
A total of 220 subjects (115 females, 105 males), aged between 14 and 18, were asked about their own and parents' physical activity habits and tobacco, alcohol, and light drug consumption. The chi-square test was used to detect differences between males and females. Categorical principal component analysis and Spearman's correlation were used to find associations between the variables analyzed.
Our results show a prevalence of an active lifestyle of 52.3%, with no significant gender differences. selleck inhibitor The consumption of tobacco, alcohol, and light drugs was 28.2, 63.2, and 16.8%, respectively, with a higher prevalence in males and correlated with age. We found a positive correlation between physical activity practice and parents' physical activity, especially between mothers and daughters. Finally, male physical activity practice is inversely related to risk behaviors.
Our findings underline the importance of family and parental involvement in promoting health behaviors, such as physical and sports activities, that can represent a powerful educational tool for the prevention of social dangers.

Many studies results suggest how can we improve the academic performance for our kids. The purposes of this study were to examine how physical activity could affect both academic achievement and fluid intelligence in adolescence.
We measured the three variables (physical, cognitive, academic) and try to find the correlations between them.
A total of 167 adolescents (mean age = 16.34 years SD = 1.2) from Morocco are participating in this study. The cardiorespiratory fitness was measured with the20 m endurance shuttle-run test. We also assessed the Resistance capacity with 500m sprint test. The academic achievement was assessed by school grades. The fluid intelligence was assessed by using Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices. We examined the correlation between all variables.
This study indicates that the academic achievement was positively associated with the Fluid Intelligence and also with the Resistance Capacity and not with Cardiorespiratory Fitness (VO2peak).
We can conclude that the professionals and researchers in sports and education have to promote physical activity at the school age for a public health purpose.

The literature shows that gut microbiota composition is related with health, and a lot of individual and outer factors may determine its variability. In particular, nutrition and exercise seem to influence the presence in the gut of the two major bacterial phyla of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes.
An ongoing cross-sectional investigation is aimed to explore these associations in humans.
Healthy Caucasian young adults were asked to provide a fecal sample in order to analyze their gut microbiome considering their Body Mass Index (BMI), adherence to Mediterranean diet and Physical Activity (PA) level.
A total of 59 participants (49.1% males, mean age 23.1 ± 3.14 years) were enrolled so far. Firmicutes (61.6±14.6) and Bacteroidetes (30.7 ± 13.3) showed the highest relative abundance in fecal samples. The Pearson's analysis showed a significant negative correlation between PA and Firmicutes (r =-0.270, p = 0.03). Linear regression confirmed a significant decrease of this phylum with the increase of PA (R2 = 0.07, p = 0.03).
These preliminary results suggest the association between physical activity and gut microbiota composition in healthy humans.

The health emergency caused by the spread of SARS-COV-2 virus has required the adoption of passive measures against contagion, such as social distancing. The use of filtering masks, of the different types available on the market, such as surgical and facial filtering masks (FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3), is also recommended.
The aim of this paper, within the Italian and European regulatory reference framework, is to suggest a rational application of existing methodologies that enable to know and assess the features and/or make a face mask intended to be used by the community. In addition to this, the study aims to provide a correct regulatory framework and useful information for a correct use and disposal of face masks. Another purpose is the assessment of the hygienic, sanitary and regulatory aspects related to the use and disposal of face masks.
The analysis of filtering masks is based on the review of scientific literature, the state of art of technology and the filtering means/materials available. Reference filtration capacity, breathability, wearability, duration of use, regeneration, as well as safe disposal methods, are the main way to provide users with correct selection and use criteria. The results must be disclosed and disseminated quickly.
Despite continuing efforts, compliance rates and knowledge of best practices in hand hygiene remain disappointing. Recognizing that conventional educational tools seem out of touch with young people and that the med and messages contents need refreshing, the Italian Study Group of Hospital Hygiene of the Italian Society of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health devised a novel approach to promote the creation of innovative educational tools for improving knowledge of, and compliance with, hand hygiene rules among healthcare and medical students.
A contest in creating educational material on hand hygiene practices involved university students of nursing and medicine, and of other healthcare degrees. Students from the universities of the GISIO network were invited to create educational material (e.g., videos, posters, presentations, leaflets, and screensavers) to be presented by May 5th 2019 during the World Hand Hygiene Day / Save Lives Clean Your Hands Global Annual Initiative of the World Health ss of the importance of their consistent use among healthcare and medical students.
The contest provided a framework for the creation of innovative and potentially effective educational tools via an engaging approach that leveraged student creativity. Given the need to improve compliance rates, this study suggests that new ways can be advantageously explored to teach hand hygiene procedures and increase awareness of the importance of their consistent use among healthcare and medical students. The contamination of air-handling units is a widespread phenomenon in buildings with air-conditioning systems, including hospitals. The germicide capacity of UV-C rays is known and, in the air-conditioning apparatuses, the UV-C lamps are generally located inside the air ducts. Aim of the paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of UV-C lamps when they are differently placed, i.e. in a position to directly irradiate the HEPA filters surface. We built ad hoc experimental air-conditioning systems, with HEPA filters and UV-C lamps in the two described positions. The results obtained demonstrate that, for disinfection purpose, the direct irradiation of the HEPA filters by UV-C provides better results than irradiation of the air stream and the effectiveness increases when lowering the relative humidity of the air. The survival curves of the tested microorganisms (fungi) show typical tail shaped curves (two steps survival curves). Additional tests using both HEPA filters alone, and HEPA filters plus UV lamps, have been performed measuring the air pressure drop between entrance and exit the HEPA filters and collecting air samples in order to obtain total microbial and fungal count.
