The purpose of this study is to examine the association between financial satisfaction and individuals' preferences for various national priorities (including economic growth, national defense, freedom of speech, and having a beautiful nation). Using the sixth wave of World Value Survey (2010-2014) data for 60 countries, our Probit regression analyses show a positive and significant relationship between individuals' financial satisfaction and individuals' preferences for freedom of speech and having a beautiful nation. We also find that financial satisfaction is negatively associated with the priority of economic growth but not statistically related to the priority of national defense. These findings are robust when we use a Probit model with endogenous regressors and country-level data with a 2SLS estimator. The regression results also show that the preference for a stronger national defense is higher among individuals who are older, married, nationalistic, educated and have jobs in the public sector. Finally, we find that people with lower education and income and those with full-time employment and non-government jobs are more interested in the economic growth of their countries. The COVID-19 pandemic is manifesting its devastating effects in multiple directions, even indirectly affecting the health of citizens, for instance, by increasing the level of energy poverty (EP). As part of the studies that are trying to frame the consequences of the pandemic, this paper aims to identify the effects on EP in the coming years in a bid to identify the countries of the European Union most affected and the time span necessary to return to a path to reduce EP. For this purpose, an analysis based on the supervised learning algorithms of dynamic factor models is carried out. The outcomes of this investigation show that the negative effects of the pandemic on the level of EP will be reabsorbed very slowly, not before 2025, and in any case with substantial differences between countries, further widening the gap between countries with low levels of EP and those with greater EP levels.Seasonal rounds are deliberative articulations of a community's sociocultural relations with their ecological system. The process of visualizing seasonal rounds informs transdisciplinary research. We present a methodological approach for communities of enquiry to engage communities of practice through context-specific sociocultural and ecological relations driven by seasonal change. We first discuss historical précis of the concept of seasonal rounds that we apply to assess the spatial and temporal communal migrations and then describe current international research among Indigenous and rural communities in North America and Central Asia by the creation of a common vocabulary through mutual respect for multiple ways of knowing, validation of co-generated knowledge, and insights into seasonal change. By investigating the relationship between specific biophysical indicators and livelihoods of local communities, we demonstrate that seasonal rounds are an inclusive and participatory methodology that brings together diverse Indigenous and rural voices to anticipate anthropogenic climate change.

Zinc-based ligands in bimetallic complexes also render unique reactivity to the transition metals at which they are bound. Here we explore the use of sterically hindered [Pt(P t Bu3)2] (1) to access Pt/Zn bimetallic complexes. Compounds [(P t Bu3)2Pt → Zn(C6F5)2] (2) and [Pt(ZnCp*)6] (3) (Cp* = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) were isolated by reactions with Zn(C6F5)2 and [Zn2Cp*2], respectively. selleck compound We also disclose the cooperative reactivity of 1/ZnX2 pairs (X = Cl, Br, I, and OTf) toward water and dihydrogen, which can be understood in terms of bimetallic frustration.Microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi play essential roles in many application fields, like biotechnique, medical technique and industrial domain. Microorganism counting techniques are crucial in microorganism analysis, helping biologists and related researchers quantitatively analyze the microorganisms and calculate their characteristics, such as biomass concentration and biological activity. However, traditional microorganism manual counting methods, such as plate counting method, hemocytometry and turbidimetry, are time-consuming, subjective and need complex operations, which are difficult to be applied in large-scale applications. In order to improve this situation, image analysis is applied for microorganism counting since the 1980s, which consists of digital image processing, image segmentation, image classification and suchlike. Image analysis-based microorganism counting methods are efficient comparing with traditional plate counting methods. In this article, we have studied the development of microorganism counting methods using digital image analysis. Firstly, the microorganisms are grouped as bacteria and other microorganisms. Then, the related articles are summarized based on image segmentation methods. Each part of the article is reviewed by methodologies. Moreover, commonly used image processing methods for microorganism counting are summarized and analyzed to find common technological points. More than 144 papers are outlined in this article. In conclusion, this paper provides new ideas for the future development trend of microorganism counting, and provides systematic suggestions for implementing integrated microorganism counting systems in the future. Researchers in other fields can refer to the techniques analyzed in this paper. The odd sniffle was nothing to worry about until covid-19 burst our bubble. It is time we paid more attention to minor ailments, says Graham Lawton.England could soon see up to 7000 covid-19 hospitalisations a day, but that is only one of several different possible scenarios, reports Clare Wilson.Young people are challenging gender to expand beyond a male/female binary, yet research practices still lag behind these conceptions. This call-to-action paper will review the traditional conceptualizations of gender as prevalent in peer relations research, contrasted with modern approaches from scholars studying gender and sexual orientation diversity, and outline how youth are challenging binary conceptualizations. We provide recommended best practices to sensitively bridge this gap, including using open responses where possible, and two-step closed-ended question formats where necessary, to measure gender identity; considering the context and role that gender identity and each of its facets might play in the research design; and preserving underrepresented groups even though they may be small. We close by exploring the ways in which the power of peer socialization can be (and likely currently are being) harnessed to support the ever-changing, diverse gender identities emergent in today's youth, and provide questions for future research.Recent literature in race, ethnicity, and politics has assessed how minority linked fate, defined as "the idea that ethnoracial minorities might share a sense of commonality that extends beyond their particular ethnoracial group to other ethnoracial groups (Gershon et al., in Politics Groups Identities 7(3)642-653, 2019)," shapes attitudes toward descriptive representation and support for coalition building. However, scholarship has yet to examine the influence of minority linked fate on political participation. We argue that similar to those who view the interests of co-ethnics as a proxy for their individual interests, Latina/os, Asian Americans, and African Americans who express linked fate with a more expansive minority community are more likely to take political action. This political participation results from senses of obligation to and solidarity with other racial minorities outside of their own. Results from the 2016 Collaborative Multiracial Post-Election Survey show that controlling for conventional measures of linked fate, minority linked fate is associated primarily with more system-challenging modes of political activity for Latina/os, Asian Americans, and African Americans. We conclude by positioning minority linked fate as a complementary heuristic to traditional notions of intra-racial linked fate and note how shared inter-racial linked fate informs our understanding of recent political activism among people of color.

We estimate the associated change in the aerosol radiative forcing at the top of the atmosphere and the surface. To that end, we perform new simulations with the CMIP6 global climate model EC-Earth3. The simulations use the here newly created data for the anthropogenic aerosol optical properties and an associated effect on clouds from the simple plumes parameterization (MACv2-SP), based on revised SO2 and NH3 emission scenarios. Our results highlight the small impact of the pandemic on the global aerosol radiative forcing in 2020 compared to the CMIP6 scenario SSP2-4.5 of the order of +0.04 Wm-2, which is small compared to the natural year-to-year variability in the radiation budget. Natural variability also limits the ability to detect a meaningful regional difference in the anthropogenic aerosol radiative effects. We identify the best chances to find a significant change in radiation at the surface during cloud-free conditions for regions that were strongly polluted in the past years. The post-pandemic recovery scenarios indicate a spread in the aerosol forcing of -0.68 to -0.38 Wm-2 for 2050 relative to the pre-industrial, which translates to a difference of +0.05 to -0.25 Wm-2 compared to the 2050 baseline from SSP2-4.5. This spread falls within the present-day uncertainty in aerosol radiative forcing and the CMIP6 spread in aerosol forcing at the end of the 21st century. We release the new MACv2-SP data for studies on the climate response to the pandemic and the recovery scenarios. Our 2050 forcing estimates suggest that sustained aerosol emission reductions during the post-pandemic recovery cause a stronger climate response than in 2020, i.e., there is a delayed influence of the pandemic on climate. The research of traffic revitalization index can provide support for the formulation and adjustment of policies related to urban management, epidemic prevention and resumption of work and production. This paper proposes a deep model for the prediction of urban Traffic Revitalization Index (DeepTRI). The DeepTRI builds model for the data of COVID-19 epidemic and traffic revitalization index for major cities in China. The location information of 29 cities forms the topological structure of graph. The Spatial Convolution Layer proposed in this paper captures the spatial correlation features of the graph structure. The special Graph Data Fusion module distributes and fuses the two kinds of data according to different proportions to increase the trend of spatial correlation of the data. In order to reduce the complexity of the computational process, the Temporal Convolution Layer replaces the gated recursive mechanism of the traditional recurrent neural network with a multi-level residual structure. It uses the dilated convolution whose dilation factor changes according to convex function to control the dynamic change of the receptive field and uses causal convolution to fully mine the historical information of the data to optimize the ability of long-term prediction.
