A retrospective chart review was conducted. Patients with mycologically confirmed tinea capitis were treated with one of four regimens (1) terbinafine (greater than 40kg 250mg/day, 20 to 40kg 125mg/day, less than 20kg 62.5mg/day), (2) itraconazole 5mg/kg daily, (3) fluconazole 6mg/kg daily, or (4) griseofulvin 20mg/kg daily. We used generalized linear models (GLM) to determine whether there was a significant association between the odds of cure and choice of treatment.

The causative species was Trichophyton tonsurans in all but 6 cases that grew T violaceum. For pediatric patients, the odds of having complete or clinical cure within 6weeks was greater if they used terbinafine compared to itraconazole, fluconazole, or griseofulvin (odds ratio [OR]=9.06, P=.047). The likelihood of complete or clinical cure within 8weeks of oral therapy was lower if topical steroids were previously used compared to if topical antifungals were used prior to systemic treatment (OR=0.29, P=.046).

This systematic review registered in PROSPERO (CRD42021225296) aimed to describe the use of the French national health insurance information system, which covers the entire French population (67million inhabitants), for research in the field of mental health.

Three electronic databases and a journal hand-search identified 15265 articles from January 1, 2003 (year of creation of the database) to October 31, 2020. Studies of any design were eligible for inclusion provided that they (i) made use of at least one component of the French health insurance database and (ii) focused on a topic in near and far connection with the field of mental health in France. Database used, design and methods, study period, population, key findings, and type of use for medical research were described.

A total of 152studies were included in the review analysis. There was an increase in the number of published articles over time throughout the studied period. Studies focusing on adults (n=139) largely outnumbered those focusing the field of psychiatric research with regard to the great possibilities it offers, with a clear lag in certain fields such as epidemiological or health economics studies and in specific populations, in particular children and adolescents.The prevalence of antimicrobial-resistant Cutibacterium acnes is an important concern for the antimicrobial treatment of acne vulgaris. We hypothesized that antimicrobial treatment regimens for acne vulgaris would change following the revisions in the Japanese acne treatment guidelines, which added a statement regarding appropriate antimicrobial usage. Here, we studied the changes in antimicrobial use and antimicrobial-resistant C. acnes isolated from acne patients. A total of 127 C. acnes isolates collected from 212 patients with acne between 2013 and 2018 were used. Roxithromycin and clindamycin resistance rates were approximately 50% and 40%, respectively. In contrast, the prevalence of low doxycycline-susceptible strains (minimum inhibitory concentration [MIC] ≥8 μg/mL) in 2018 (17.4%) was 5.6-fold higher than that in 2013 (3.1%). Although the number of patients with severe and moderate acne did not change, the number of patients with a history of oral tetracycline use increased. The incidence of low doxycycline-susceptible strains was high in patients with a history of oral tetracycline use. The prevalence of strains with a 16S rRNA mutation, which confers reduced susceptibility to tetracyclines, increased by 8.6-fold (12.1%) from 2016 to 2018 in comparison with the previously revised guidelines (1.4%). Furthermore, the prevalence of low susceptibility strains with two resistance factors, 16S rRNA mutation and ribosomal S10 protein substitution, also increased. Approximately 10% of strains had the exogenous resistance gene, tet(W) (2013 to 2015, 10.1%; 2016 to 2018, 8.6%), and these strains showed different susceptibility to doxycycline dependent on the expression of tet(W) (MIC range 0.5-8 μg/mL). Our data show that the antimicrobial resistance pattern in C. acnes changes according to the trend of antimicrobial usage for acne treatment. Therefore, we should pay heed to the rapid dissemination of tetracycline resistance in C. acnes owing to acquisition of 16S rRNA mutation and tet(W).Current therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease (AD) treatments mainly focus on β-amyloid (Aβ) targeting. However, such therapeutic strategies have limited clinical outcomes due to the chronic and irreversible impairment of the nervous system in the late stage of AD. Recently, inflammatory responses, manifested in oxidative stress and glial cell activation, have been reported as hallmarks in the early stages of AD. Based on the crosstalk between inflammatory response and brain cells, a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive dendrimer-peptide conjugate (APBP) is devised to target the AD microenvironment and inhibit inflammatory responses at an early stage. With the modification of the targeting peptide, this nanoconjugate can efficiently deliver peptides to the infected regions and restore the antioxidant ability of neurons by activating the nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 signaling pathway. Moreover, this multi-target strategy exhibits a synergistic function of ROS scavenging, promoting Aβ phagocytosis, and normalizing the glial cell phenotype. As a result, the nanoconjugate can reduce ROS level, decrease Aβ burden, alleviate glial cell activation, and eventually enhance cognitive functions in APPswe/PSEN1dE9 model mice. These results indicate that APBP can be a promising candidate for the multi-target treatment of AD.Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease without cure. Systemic and biological therapies are the most effective treatments for patients with severe psoriasis. However, these drugs can cause serious side effects from extended use. Safe and effective topical drugs are needed to decrease psoriatic plaques and reduce the risk of adverse effects. Amygdalin analogues are stable small molecules that showed benefits in psoriasis xenografts to immune-deficient mice by systemic application. However, whether topical application of these amygdalin analogues could reduce the progression of the psoriatic phenotype in an immune-competent organism is unknown. Here, we analyse the efficiency of topical application of an amygdalin analogue cream on a well-established genetic and immune-competent mouse model of psoriasis. Topical application of an amygdalin analogue cream ameliorates psoriasis-like disease in mice, reduces epidermal hyperplasia and skin inflammation. Amygdalin analogue treatment leads to reduced expression of local pro-inflammatory cytokines, but systemic pro-inflammatory cytokines that are highly expressed in psoriasis patients such as IL-17A, IL6 or G-CSF are also decreased. Furthermore, expression of important mediators of psoriasis initiation and epidermal hyperplasia, such as TNFa, S100A9 and TSLP, is decreased in lesional epidermis after amygdalin analogue treatment. In conclusion, we show that amygdalin analogue reduces the proliferative capacity of psoriasis-like stimulated keratinocytes and their inflammatory response in vivo and in vitro. These results suggest that topical application of amygdalin analogues may represent a safe and effective treatment for psoriasis.
Lentigo maligna (LM) is a subtype of melanoma in situ with poorly defined margins and a high recurrence rate. The biological behaviour of LM appears to differ widely between cases, from biologically indolent to biologically active variants, with some patients experiencing multiple recurrences. It is not known whether this is secondary to inadequate margins, field cancerization or the innate biology of the lesion itself.

(a) Describe the margins of LM in detail by analysing LM in three zones, that is centre, edge and surround using reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and histopathology; (b) ascertain association of histological distance of LM and atypical melanocytic hyperplasia from the surgical margin with multi-recurrent (MR) disease and (c) identify features (clinical, dermoscopy, RCM and histopathology) associated with MR LM.
