As a result, all participants quickly acquired social niceties.Applied behavior analysis (ABA) practitioners report high levels of burnout, exhibited as exhaustion and disengagement. Turnover, a stressful and costly experience for individual practitioners and the human service organizations that employ them, is a potential consequence of burnout. Work-life balance and work engagement are associated with lower burnout and lower intention to quit. Research concerning behavioral predictors of work-life balance, work engagement, and burnout-all of which are associated with turnover intentions-among ABA service providers is scant. Therefore, the purpose of the current study was to explore whether and how the use of self-care strategies and job-crafting practices influences perceived levels of work-life balance, work engagement, and burnout among ABA practitioners who work in human service settings. In a sample of 826 ABA practitioners, 72% reported medium to high levels of burnout. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that the use of both self-care strategies and job-crafting practices strongly predicted work-life balance, work engagement, and burnout above and beyond sociodemographic variables (gender and years of experience). Findings can inform the development of effective organizational/systems- and individual-level self-care and job-crafting interventions that support sustainable individual, organizational, and client-related outcomes. We contend that self-care and job-crafting interventions support a culture of well-being in graduate programs, training/supervision curricula, and mentor-mentee relationships.Racial inequity in the U.S. criminal justice system is a long-standing problem that has recently garnered international attention. This article frames the problem of racial inequity in a behavior analytic context and offers potential solutions based on existent research and behavior analytic principles. We draw a parallel between the analysis of racist behavior enabled by the definitions provided by Kendi in How to Be an Antiracist and the analysis of verbal behavior made possible by the terminology posited by Skinner in Verbal Behavior in order to highlight the pertinence of applying a behavior analytic approach to the problem of racial inequity upheld by racist behavior. Immediately actionable steps to address racism in the criminal justice system and beyond are offered on a cultural, organizational, and individual level.Treatment integrity is the extent to which procedures are implemented in a manner consistent with their prescribed protocols and is necessary for reaching accurate conclusions regarding functional relations between dependent (i.e., behavior) and independent (i.e., the environment) variables. Several studies assessing the frequency that studies report treatment integrity have been conducted. However, no review has included articles from Behavior Analysis in Practice. UMI-77 Thus, the current study reviewed Behavior Analysis in Practice between 2008 and 2019 to assess the frequency of studies reporting treatment integrity data. A total of 193 articles consisting of 205 studies met the inclusionary criteria for this review. Ninety-six studies (46.83%) reported treatment integrity data, compared to 193 (94.15%) that provided interobserver agreement data. Additionally, 98 studies (47.80%) were considered high risk for treatment implementation inaccuracies. Workplace conflict is highly prevalent in the field of health care and has been correlated with lowered job satisfaction and burnout. However, little is known about workplace conflict for practicing Board Certified Behavior Analysts® (BCBAs®). We distributed an electronic survey through the Behavior Analysis Certification Board® (BACB®) to determine the impact and prevalence of workplace conflict for practicing BCBAs. Most of our participants reported various levels of conflict with different workplace professionals including teachers, caregivers, colleagues, and supervisees. We found that a high proportion of practitioners reported losing cases and wanting to leave their jobs because of workplace conflict. Most of our participants did not feel that they had the training they needed to have sufficient skills to resolve workplace conflict effectively. Therefore, in this article we outlined the component skills necessary to manage conflict effectively and made recommendations for training these skills.Providers of applied behavior analysis (ABA) services often deliver therapeutic interventions within their clients' homes. Although the home environment offers numerous advantages for consumers, it can also pose unique threats to provider health and safety. When an unsecured firearm is discovered in the home of a client, service providers and agencies may not have the necessary knowledge to respond immediately to the situation nor how to ensure a safe therapeutic environment prior to the reinstatement of ABA services. This article aims to discuss strategies that agencies and service providers can use to reestablish a safe environment when they discover an unsecured firearm in the home. Their participation as authors of journal articles and as journal editors was first quantified in 1983 and has been the topic of several subsequent articles. Other articles have addressed other aspects of women's participation in the discipline, but no review of articles concerned with women in behavior analysis has appeared. The present review (a) describes articles that quantified the participation of women, (b) presents a novel data set providing an updated overview of women's participation in eight behavior-analytic journals, (c) reviews suggestions from prominent female behavior analysts, (d) discusses other topics that pertain to the participation of women, (e) presents data describing the gender of authors who have written about women in behavior analysis, and (f) makes suggestions for future research. Women's participation in behavior analysis has increased greatly over the past half-century. The articles we review clearly document that increase and may have contributed to it, although that contribution is speculative.Behavior analysts sometimes consider various forms of data analysis when making clinical decisions and when attempting to illuminate interesting relations in existing datasets. For example, an ongoing plot of when problem behavior occurs across days and times can yield useful information regarding the function(s) of problem behavior. In a post-hoc analysis, a plot of within-session error patterns can reveal which variables may be contributing to faulty stimulus control. Such analyses can be burdensome to conduct manually (e.g., changing the color of individual data points based on error type), and more efficient methods (e.g., using conditional formatting in Microsoft Excel data tables) might not be conducive for producing publication-quality figures. In the present article, we provide an overview of how behavior analysts can use GraphPad Prism's heat-map feature to efficiently populate fine-grained graphs of behavior with data points that are coded automatically (e.g., with categorical colors or gradients). Implications for clinical utility and research production are discussed.
We sought to train a foundational convolutional neural network (CNN) for screening computed tomography (CT) angiography (CTA) scans for the presence of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) for future predictive modeling and other artificial intelligence applications.

From January 2015 to January 2020, a HIPAA (Health Insurance and Accountability Act)-compliant, institutional review board-approved, retrospective clinical study analyzed contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic CTA scans from 200 patients with infrarenal AAAs and 200 propensity-matched control patients with non-aneurysmal infrarenal abdominal aortas. A CNN was trained to binary classification on the input. For model improvement and testing, transfer learning using the ImageNet database was applied to the VGG-16 base model. The image dataset was randomized to sets of 60%, 10%, and 30% for model training, validation, and testing, respectively. A stochastic gradient descent was used for optimization. The models were assessed by testing validatimodel serves as a proof-of-concept to proceed with potential future directions to include expansion to predictive modeling and other artificial intelligence-based applications.
The worldwide burden of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is still unremittingly prevailing, with more than 440 million infections and over 5.9 million deaths documented so far since the SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) pandemic. The non-availability of treatment further aggravates the scenario, thereby demanding the exploration of pre-existing FDA-approved drugs for their effectiveness against COVID-19. The current research aims to identify potential anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs using a computational approach and repurpose them if possible. In the present study, we have collected a set of 44 FDA-approved drugs of different classes from a previously published literature with their potential antiviral activity against COVID-19. We have employed both regression- and classification-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) modeling to identify critical chemical features essential for anticoronaviral activity. The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s11224-022-01975-3.In order to systematically study the nanopermeability properties of saturated soft clay under different consolidation pressures and different osmotic pressures, this paper analyzes various loading and unloading conditions that affect the permeability of soil based on the material description equation with displacement as the control variable of large deformation consolidation theory. By summarizing the empirical relationship between permeability coefficient and consolidation pressure and permeability coefficient and void ratio, the infiltration law and seepage failure characteristics of soft clay are revealed. For the soil studied in this paper, a = 0.65, b = 0.001, and q = 3.55 are acceptable. The effect of the initial permeability coefficient on large deformation consolidation is studied, and the necessity and plausibility of considering the nonlinearity of the compression and permeability coefficient when calculating the soft-land base large deformation consolidation is also studied.
