omes using NLP-based ML of radiology free-text reports of brain MRI, DL algorithms showed superior performance over the other ML algorithms. In particular, the prediction of poor outcomes in document-level NLP DL was improved more by multi-CNN and CNN than by recurrent neural network-based algorithms. NLP-based DL algorithms can be used as an important digital marker for unstructured electronic health record data DL prediction. In this study, a high-density polyethylene (HDPE)-based carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) was irradiated by an electron-beam. To assess the absorbed dose rate influence on its mechanical properties, the beam energy and absorbed dose were fixed, while the absorbed dose rates were varied. The tensile strength (TS) and Young's modulus (YM) were evaluated. The irradiated CFRTP TS increased at absorbed dose rates of up to 6.8 kGy/s and decreased at higher rates. DGalactose YM showed no meaningful differences. For CFRTPs constituents, the carbon fiber (CF) TS gradually increased, while the HDPE TS decreased slightly as the absorbed dose rates increased. The OH intermolecular bond was strongly developed in irradiated CFRTP at low absorbed dose rates and gradually declined when increasing those rates. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed that the oxygen content of irradiated CFRTPs decreased with increasing absorbed dose rate due to the shorter irradiation time at higher dose rates. In conclusion, from the TS viewpoint, opposite effects occurred when increasing the absorbed dose rate a favorable increase in CF TS and adverse decline of attractive hydrogen bonding interactions between HDPE and CF for CFRTPs TS. Therefore, the irradiated CFRTP TS was maximized at an optimum absorbed dose rate of 6.8 kGy/s.Whole-school physical activity (PA) promotion programmes are recommended to increase youth PA. Evaluation of programmes is essential to ensure practice is guided by evidence. This paper evaluates the Active School Flag (ASF), a whole-school PA promotion programme in Ireland, using the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance (RE-AIM) framework. ASF was evaluated across three levels-(1) administration, (2) application, (3) outcomes-using a mi✗ed-methods case study design. E✗isting data sources were reviewed, the programme coordinator was interviewed, and a pilot study was conducted to investigate impact on 3rd and 5th class students (3 schools, n = 126 students, age range 8-12 years). In-school Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA; by accelerometery), motivation for PA (BREQ), PA self-efficacy (PASES), school affect and peer social support (Kidscreen27) were measured pre-programme (0 months), post-programme (8 months), and at retention (12 months). Teacher perceptions of classroom behaviour (CBAST) were also measured pre- and post-programme. ASF has been successful in engaging 46% of primary schools nationally. link2 Students' in-school moderate-vigorous PA increased in all pilot-study schools from pre-programme to retention (η2 = 0.68-0.84). ASF programme design facilitates implementation fidelity, adoption and maintenance through buy in from schools and government stakeholders. ASF presents as an effective PA promotion programme in the short-to-medium term for primary schools. This RE-AIM evaluation provides evidence of ASF effectiveness, alongside valuable findings that could support programme improvement, and inform future similar programmes.Integrin ligands containing the tripeptide sequences Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) and iso-Asp-Gly- Arg (isoDGR) were actively investigated as inhibitors of tumor angiogenesis and directing unit in tumor-targeting drug conjugates. link3 Reported herein is the synthesis, of two RGD and one isoDGR cyclic peptidomimetics containing (1S,2R) and (1R,2S) cis-2-amino-1-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid (cis-β-ACPC), using a mixed solid phase/solution phase synthetic protocol. The three ligands were examined in vitro in competitive binding assays to the purified αvβ3 and α5β1 receptors using biotinylated vitronectin (αvβ3) and fibronectin (α5β1) as natural displaced ligands. The IC50 values of the ligands ranged from nanomolar (the two RGD ligands) to micromolar (the isoDGR ligand) with a pronounced selectivity for αvβ3 over α5β1. In vitro cell adhesion assays were also performed using the human skin melanoma cell line WM115 (rich in integrin αvβ3). The two RGD ligands showed IC50 values in the same micromolar range as the reference compound (cyclo[RGDfV]), while for the isoDGR derivative an IC50 value could not be measured for the cell adhesion assay. A conformational analysis of the free RGD and isoDGR ligands by NMR (VT-NMR and NOESY experiments) and computational studies (MC/EM and MD), followed by docking simulations performed in the αVβ3 integrin active site, provided a rationale for the behavior of these ligands toward the receptor.A novel RNA virus was identified in firespike (Odontonema tubaeforme) plants exhibiting leaf curling and chlorosis. The molecular features of the viral genomic RNA and proteins resemble those of ampeloviruses. Based on sequence comparisons and phylogenetic analysis, we propose a new species in the genus Ampelovirus, which we have tentatively named Firespike leafroll-associated virus (FLRaV). Bioassays showed that the virus is mechanically transmissible to Nicotiana benthamiana. In addition, a full-length cDNA clone of FLRaV could successfully infect N. benthamiana via agroinfiltration.Descriptive and retrospective studies without control groups have suggested a possible association between primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) and vitamin B12 (B12) deficiency. This is of importance because several mucosal and neurological features are common to these two conditions and could be prevented or reversed in case of B12 deficiency. We aimed to evaluate the association between pSS and B12 deficiency. We prospectively assessed the B12 status of 490 patients hospitalized in an internal medicine department over a 15-week period. Patients with pernicious anemia were excluded. We extracted patients with pSS and paired them with controls according to age and sex, with a 15 ratio. Twenty-one pSS patients were paired with 105 control patients. The median age was 70 years old (51-75) and 95.2% of patients were women. The plasma B12 level was lower in pSS patients (329 (293-521) ng/L vs. 456 (341-587) ng/L, p less then 0.0001). B12 deficiency was associated with pSS (42.9% among pSS patients vs. 11.4% among controls), even after adjustment for other causes of B12 deficiency (OR 6.45 (95%CI 2.08-20.0)). In conclusion, pSS appeared to be associated with B12 deficiency, even after the exclusion of pernicious anemia. This justifies screening and treating B12 deficiency in pSS patients.A systemic inflammatory response induces multiple organ dysfunction and results in poor long-term neurological outcomes in neonatal sepsis. However, there is no effective therapy for treating or preventing neonatal sepsis besides antibiotics and supportive care. Therefore, a novel strategy to improve neonatal sepsis-related morbidity and mortality is desirable. Recently, we reported that prophylactic therapy with human amniotic stem cells (hAFSCs) improved survival in a rat model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced neonatal sepsis through immunomodulation. Besides improving the mortality, increasing survival without major morbidities is an important goal of neonatal intensive care for neonatal sepsis. This study investigated long-term neurological outcomes in neonatal sepsis survivors treated with hAFSCs using the LPS-induced neonatal sepsis model in rats. We found that prophylactic therapy with hAFSCs improved spatial awareness and memory-based behavior in neonatal sepsis survivors at adolescence in rats. The treatment suppressed acute reactive gliosis and subsequently reduced astrogliosis in the hippocampal region over a long period of assessment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report that proves the concept that hAFSC treatment improves cognitive impairment in neonatal sepsis survivors. We demonstrate the efficacy of hAFSC therapy in improving the mortality and morbidity associated with neonatal sepsis.Biocontrol fungal strains of the genus Trichoderma can antagonize numerous plant pathogens and promote plant growth using different mechanisms of action, including the production of secondary metabolites (SMs). In this work we analyzed the effects of repeated applications of selected Trichoderma strains or SMs on young olive trees on the stimulation of plant growth and on the development of olive leaf spot disease caused by Fusicladium oleagineum. In addition, metabolomic analyses and gene expression profiles of olive leaves were carried out by LC-MS Q-TOF and real-time RT-PCR, respectively. A total of 104 phenolic compounds were detected from olive leave extracts and 20 were putatively identified. Targeted and untargeted approaches revealed significant differences in both the number and type of phenolic compounds accumulated in olive leaves after Trichoderma applications, as compared to water-treated plants. Different secoiridoids were less abundant in treated plants than in controls, while the accumulation of flavonoids (including luteolin and apigenin derivatives) increased following the application of specific Trichoderma strain. The induction of defense-related genes, and of genes involved in the synthesis of the secoiridoid oleuropein, was also analyzed and revealed a significant variation of gene expression according to the strain or metabolite applied.Insulation faults in high-voltage applications often generate partial discharges (PDs) accompanied by corona activity, optical radiation mainly in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible bands. Recent developments in low-cost, small-size, and high-resolution visible imaging sensors, which are also partially sensitive to the UV spectral region, are gaining attention due to their many industrial applications. This paper proposes a method for early PD detection by using digital imaging sensors, which allows the severity of insulation faults to be assessed. The electrical power dissipated by the PDs is correlated to the energy of the acquired visible images, and thus, the severity of insulation faults is determined from the energy of the corona effect. A criterion to quantify the severity of insulation faults based on the energy of the corona images is proposed. To this end, the point-to-plane gap configuration is analyzed in a low-pressure chamber, where digital image photographs of the PDs are taken and evaluated under different pressure conditions ranging from 10 to 100 kPa, which cover the typical pressure range of aeronautic applications. The use of digital imaging sensors also allows an early detection, location and quantification of the PD activity, and thus assessing the severity of insulation faults to perform predictive maintenance tasks, while enabling the cost and complexity of the instrumentation to be reduced. Although the approach proposed in this paper has been applied to detect PDs in aeronautic applications, it can be applied to many other high-voltage applications susceptible of PD occurrence.
