postoperative function at 3 months among FHF patients treated during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the pre-pandemic period. Therefore, modified in-hospital and post-discharge protocols should be developed for implementation during pandemic crisis periods.Skin harbors an important microbial ecosystem - the skin microbiota that is in homeostasis with its host and is beneficial for human health. Cosmetic products have the potential to interfere with this microbial community; therefore their impact should be assessed. The aim of this review is to highlight the importance of skin microbiota in the cosmetic industry. Several studies determined that cosmetic ingredients have the potential to disrupt the skin microbiota equilibrium leading to the development of skin diseases and dysregulation of immune response. These studies led their investigation by using different methodologies and models, concluding that methods must be chosen according to the aim of the study, the skin site to be evaluated, and the target population of the cosmetics. Overall, it is crucial to test the impact of cosmetics in the skin microbiota and to stablish standard procedures, as well as specific criteria that allow to classify a cosmetic product as skin microbiota friendly. The anatomy of the osteochondral junction is complex because several tissue components exist as a unit, including uncalcified cartilage (with superficial, middle, and deep layers), calcified cartilage, and subchondral bone. Furthermore, it is difficult to study because this region is made up of a variety of cell types and extracellular matrix compositions. Using X-ray fluorescence microscopy, we present a protocol for simultaneous elemental detection on fresh frozen samples. We transferred the osteochondral sample using a tape-assisted system and successfully tested it in synchrotron X-ray fluorescence. This protocol elucidates the distinct distribution of elements at the human knee's osteochondral junction, making it a useful tool for analyzing the co-distribution of various elements in both healthy and diseased states.
The introduction of comprehensive tumour genomic profiling (CGP) into clinical oncology allows the identification of molecular therapeutic targets. However, the potential complexity of genomic results and their implications may cause confusion and distress for patients undergoing CGP. We investigated the experience of advanced cancer patients receiving CGP results in a research setting.

Semi-structured interviews with 37 advanced cancer patients were conducted within two weeks of patients receiving CGP results. Interviewees were purposively sampled based on CGP result, cancer type, age and gender to ensure diversity. Themes were derived from interview transcripts using a framework analysis approach.

We identified six themes (1) hoping against the odds; (2) managing expectations; (3) understanding is cursory; (4) communication of results is cursory; (5) genomics and incurable cancer; and (6) decisions about treatment.

Despite enthusiasm regarding CGP about the hope it provides for new treatments, participants experienced challenges in understanding results, and acceptance of identified treatments was not automatic. Support is needed for patients undergoing CGP to understand the implications of testing and cope with non-actionable results.

After examining 68 primary ovarian cancer samples, we observed around 80% of the co-expression in low grade serous and endometrioid ovarian cancer samples. We then constructed a dual CAR system that splits the conventional single-input of a 2nd generation CAR into two independent chimeric receptors, one composed of the NKG2D extracellular domain linked with DAP12 for T cell activation and another using the PD-1 extracellular domain linked with 4-1BB for costimulatory signal 2 input. Given the limitation of the low-affinity PD-1 receptor in recognizing cancer cells with low levels of PD-1 ligands, we also used a high-affinity scFv specific to PD-L1 in our combinatorial approach to expand the range of target cancer cells with different expression levels of PD-L1. The two types of dual CAR-T cells were generated through electroporation of non-viral piggyBac transposon plasmids and were effective in eliminating the target cancer cells. Especially, the dual CAR-T cells with anti-PD-L1 scFv were capable of eradicating established tumors in mouse models of peritoneal metastasis of colorectal cancer and ovarian cancer. Since both NKG2D ligands and PD-1 ligands have been marked as favourable cancer therapeutic targets, the new dual CAR-T cells developed in this study hold attractive application potential in treating metastatic peritoneal carcinoma. We investigated possible cardioprotective mechanisms of L-arginine coated nanoparticles (L-ACN) combined with swimming exercise (SE) in aging male rats considering heart and neural crest derivatives-expressed protein 2 (HAND2) and t-box transcription factor 5 (TBX5). Thirty-five male Wistar rats were randomly assigned into five groups young, old, old + L-ACN, old + SE, and old +  L-ACN + SE (n = 7 in each). L-arginine coated with chitosan nanoparticles was given to L-ACN groups via gavage at 500 mg/kg/day. SE groups performed a swimming exercise program 5 days per week for 6 weeks. The exercise program started with 20 min, gradually increasing to 60 min after four sessions, which was then constant until the completion of the training period. After the protocol completion, the rats were sacrificed, and the heart was fixed and frozen to carry out histological, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and gene expression analyses. The expression of HAND2 protein, HAND2 mRNA, and TBX5 mRNA of the heart tissue was significantly higher in the young group than in all older groups (P  less then  0.05). The old + L-ACN, old + SE, and old + L-ACN + SE groups showed a significant increase in these factors compared to the old group (P  less then  0.05). Nano-L-arginine supplement, along with swimming exercises, seems to have cardioprotective potential and improve cardiac function in old age by strengthening cardiomyocyte signaling, especially HAND2 and TBX5. However, more research is required, particularly on human samples.
Despite recent substantial mental healthcare reforms to increase the supply of healthcare, mental health inequality in Australia is rising. Understanding of the level of inequity (unmet need gap) in psychiatric service use in Australia's mixed public-private health care system is lacking.

To present a novel method to measure inequity in the delivery of psychiatric care.

Data came from wave 9 (year 2009, n = 11,563) and wave 17 (year 2017, n = 16,194) of the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey. Multiple logistic regression was employed to estimate the psychiatric care utilisation compared to its need and the Gini index was used to estimate the standardised distribution of utilisation to measure the extent of inequity.

The results show the inequity indices (need-standardised Gini) in psychiatric care utilisation were significant and found to be 0.066 and 0.096 in 2009 and 2017, respectively, for all individuals. In 2009, the inequity indices were found to be 0.051 and 0.078 for males and females, respectively, and 0.045 and 0.068 for rural and urban residents, respectively. In 2017, the indices were calculated to be 0.081 and 0.109 for males and females, respectively, and 0.086 and 0.097 for rural and urban residents, respectively.

This study showed a marked increase in unmet needs in psychiatric care utilisation since 2009. There is a greater need to develop policies to improve equity in psychiatric care utilisation in Australia.

To identify and describe unusual soft tissue complications of periodontal plastic surgery procedures at the recipient site after periodontal grafts.

Two independent reviewers performed a comprehensive search in MEDLINE, Cochrane, periodontics journals, reference lists, and grey literature for articles dated up to July 2021. Publications related to surgical interventions only around the teeth with an unusual complication at the recipient site were selected. No restrictions were made in the number of cases, follow-up period, or language. The Cochrane Collaboration's tool for assessing risk of bias, the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS), and two validated case report/series checklists were used to critically appraise the studies.

A total of 1434 articles were examined, of which 28 met the inclusion criteria one RCT, two cohort studies, and twenty-five case reports/series. The periodontal plastic surgery procedures described in these articles were conducted to treat lack of attached gingiva and gingival recessions. The following unusual complications were found bone exostosis, epithelial inclusion, root resorption, abscess, overgrowth, "liver clot" formation, and oroantral communication.

Bone exostosis and epithelial inclusions were the most prevalent unusual complications following treatment with subepithelial connective tissue graft, free gingival graft, and acellular dermal matrix allograft. MEK inhibitor Due to the nature of the reports, the clinical recommendations for diagnosis and treatment cannot be homogenized. Clinical studies reporting complications are required to develop management protocols (PROSPERO CRD42021230875).

Clinicians need to know the main complications that can occur in mucogingival surgeries as well as their clinical management to provide a successful and predictable treatment.

Anti-PD-1 antibody (anti-PD-1 mAb) showed favorable outcomes in some patients with relapsed/refractory (r/r) extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL). However, the role of anti-PD-1 antibody in NK/T-cell lymphoma-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (NK/T-LAHS) remains unclear. Here, we evaluated the efficacy and toxicity of anti-PD-1 antibody-based treatment in NK/T-LAHS patients.

The clinical data of 98 patients diagnosed with NK/T-LAHS at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University from May 2014 to November 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients received anti-HLH [HLH-2004 (etoposide, dexamethasone, cyclosporine A) or DEP-based (liposomal doxorubicin, etoposide, methylprednisolone)] regimen and sequential anti-ENKTL chemotherapy (ChT) combined with anti-PD-1 antibody or not.

The overall response rate (ORR) of the anti-PD-1 mAb plus ChT regimens was higher than that of the ChT regimens (73.3% vs. 45.5%, P = 0.041). The toxicity of the anti-PD-1 mAb plus ChT regimens was tolerable.
