The development of stable, highly active, and inexpensive catalysts for the ozone catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is challenging but of great significance. Herein, the micro-coordination environment of Al in commercial Y zeolite was regulated by a specific dealumination method and then the dealuminated Y zeolite was used as the support of Cu-Mn oxides. The optimized catalyst Cu-Mn/DY exhibited excellent performance with around 95% of toluene removal at 30 °C. Besides, the catalyst delivered satisfactory stability in both high-humidity conditions and long-term reactions, which is attributed to more active oxygen vacancies and acidic sites, especially the strong Lewis acid sites newly formed in the catalyst. The decrease in the electron cloud density around aluminum species enhanced electron transfer at the interface between Cu-Mn oxides. Moreover, extra-framework octahedrally coordinated Al in the support promoted the electronic metal-support interaction (EMSI). Compared with single Mn catalysts, the incorporation of the Cu component changed the degradation pathway of toluene. Benzoic acid, as the intermediate of toluene oxidation, can directly ring-open on Cu-doped catalysts rather than being further oxidized to other byproducts, which increased the rate of the catalytic reaction. This work provides a new insight and theoretical guidance into the rational design of efficient catalysts for the catalytic ozonation of VOCs.Alternative caregivers (i.e., someone besides the primary caregiver who also takes care of children) make food choices for children. This study investigated what alternative caregivers consider when making food choices for children and their perspectives on their role in making food choices to feed children. In-depth interviews were conducted with 16 alternative caregivers of children aged 1-5 years old in semi-urban and urban areas of the State of Mexico in Mexico. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, coded, and analyzed using constant comparative method. Alternative caregivers described spaces and situations that exposed children to food while under their care. Healthy or nutritious food, cost of food and affection for children were important considerations for alternative caregivers when deciding what to feed the child. Efforts to promote healthy food choices for children should include targeting of alternative caregivers.
Variety of conventional treatments are used to treat cancer. Cancer patients adopt other alternative therapies including medicinal plants. Their curative power results in the presence of secondary metabolites in its different parts. However, they can have toxic effects and interactions with conventional treatment and even chemosensitivity of the cancer cells.
This study aims to determine the prevalence of the use of medecinal plants by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, list the medecinal plants used, identify the most consumed, present the reported adverse effects and determine the predictive factors of their use.
This was a cross-sectional study of 203 patients followed at the National Institute of Oncology in Rabat from 01 October 2018 to 30 November 2018. Regarding socio-demographic and clinical characteristics and data on the use of medicinal plants were collected from a questionnaire.

The "euphorbia honey"was consumed at (40%), The most used plants were garlic (13%), turmeric, fenugreek and thyme (11% each). 5% of patients presented side effects related to the consumption of medicinal plants. There is a significant association between the use of medicinal plants and socio-economic level (p = 0.004) and duration of illness (p = 0.048).

Neuroinflammation and disturbance of glutamate metabolism in brain regions, such as the hippocampus, play vital roles in the development of depression. Previous studies have shown that cyanidin chloride (Cycl) has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties with neuroprotective effects in peripheral tissues. However, the effects of Cycl on depression and the possible mechanism by which this compound targets brain regions remain less elucidated. We investigated the role of Cycl in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depression and examined the influence of the drug on central inflammation and the expression of excitatory amino acid transporters in the hippocampus. We found that prophylactic i.p. application of Cycl at 20 or 40 mg/kg for 5 days significantly reduced the immobility time assessed by the tail suspension test (TST) and forced swim test (FST) in LPS-challenged mice, suggesting an effective antidepressant activity of the drug. Western blotting and immunofluorescence staining in the hippocampus revealed that Cycl inhibited the upregulation of proinflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α and IL-6, and suppressed the hyperactivity of microglia induced by LPS, indicating an anti-inflammatory role in the hippocampus. Moreover, treatment with Cycl also recovered the downregulated expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and glutamate-aspartate transporter (GLAST) and excitatory amino acid transporter 2 (EAAT2), two members in the excitatory amino acid transporter family. The role of Cycl was also verified in cultured BV2 and U251 cells. In conclusion, the present in vivo and in vitro studies demonstrate that Cycl exerts potent antidepressant action in an LPS-induced depression model and the underlying mechanism is associated with reduced hippocampal inflammation, improved neurotrophic function, and attenuated excitotoxicity induced by glutamate.Profiling and cancer risk assessment on the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) content of coal ashes produced by the major coal combustion plants from the eastern coalfield region in India was conducted. Thirteen PAHs were detected on coal ashes collected from ash deposition sites of major thermal power plants and the profiling of the PAHs was done. Benzo[a]pyrene equivalents (BaPeq) for individual PAHs were calculated and applied to the probabilistic assessment model from US EPA (1989). Monte Carlo simulations were conducted to assess the risk of inhabitants exposed to PAHs through the dust of the coal ash deposition site. In fly ash, the range of total amount of carcinogenic PAHs was from 3.50 to 6.72 µg g-1 and for the bottom ash, the range was 8.49 to 14.91 µg g-1. Bottom ashes were loaded with ample amounts of 5- and 6-ring carcinogenic PAHs, whereas fly ashes were dominated by medium molecular weight PAHs. The simulated mean cancer risks from fly ashes were 2.187 E-06 for children and 3.749 E-06 for adults. For the case of bottom ash, the mean risks were 1.248 E-05 and 2.173 E-05 respectively for children and adults. Among all the three exposure routes, dermal contact was the major and caused 81% of the total cancer risk. The most sensitive parameters were exposure duration and relative skin adherence factor for soil, which contributed the most to total variation. The 90% risks calculated from the bottom ashes (2.617 E-05 for children and 4.803 E-05 for adults) are marginally above the acceptable limit (>1.000 E-06) according to US EPA. In this study, a comprehensive risk assessment on carcinogenic PAHs present in coal ashes was done for the first time that may be helpful to develop potential strategies against occupational cancer risk.
Confronting stigma early in life could enhance treatment seeking. In two randomized controlled trials (RCTs), one focused on psychosis and the other on adolescent depression, the efficacy and equivalence of brief social contact-based videos were evaluated and compared with a control condition. The outcomes of interest were changes in illness-related stigma and treatment-seeking intention. The hypotheses were that the intervention videos would show greater efficacy than control conditions and that traditional and selfie videos would demonstrate similar efficacy.
Young adults (study 1, N=895) and adolescents (study 2, N=637) were randomly assigned to view intervention videos (in traditional or selfie styles) or to a control condition. In short videos (58-102 seconds), young presenters humanized their illness by emotionally describing their struggles and discussing themes of recovery and hope.

The authors sought to determine whether staff at a peer-run agency could deliver supported employment services with high fidelity to the individual placement and support (IPS) model and whether employment outcomes of peer-delivered IPS plus work-specific health promotion were superior to usual supported employment services.
Two teams from a vocational program of a large peer-run agency were studied from July 2015 to July 2017. One team received training and supervision in delivering IPS plus employment-focused physical wellness support and mentoring. The other team continued providing usual supported employment services. Study data included vocational outcomes from 348 clients served by the two teams (IPS, N=184; comparison condition, N=164) and the results of IPS fidelity reviews of the IPS team at study baseline, midpoint, and end. The authors modeled the primary outcome of competitive employment with random-effects logistic regression and adjusted propensity scores for age, gender, race, ethnicity, education, and months of service receipt.
Following training, the IPS team demonstrated acceptable and increasing fidelity to the IPS model, achieving "good fidelity" by the end of the 25-month observation period. Among IPS recipients, 43% achieved competitive employment versus 21% of comparison recipients (p<0.001). Multivariable analysis indicated that IPS recipients were significantly more likely to achieve competitive employment than individuals in the comparison group (OR=4.06, p<0.001).
Providing training in IPS along with health promotion to the behavioral health peer workforce may help address the severe shortage of IPS services and enhance the competitive employment outcomes of people served by peer-run programs.
