Additionally, the electric contact among the electrode components has been enhanced by the alleviation of the electrode volume change in the narrowed working voltage window. Our work provides one effective method to give a deep understanding of the high-energy-density electrode failure and helps to narrow the huge gap between the microstructure and the performance of the electrode. The high charging overpotential and insulating/insoluble Li2O2 discharge products have seriously hindered the development of Li-O2 batteries. Here, we report a highly concentrated 5.0 M lithium nitrate (LiNO3) in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMA) with 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy (TEMPO) as a redox mediator (RM) and with the LiF layer by adding N,N-dimethyltrifluoroacetamide (DMTFA) to the electrolyte, which reduces the charge voltage (3.6 V over 65 cycles) and allows stable cycling for 100 cycles without noticeable fading in capacity. The Li plating/stripping test and electrochemical impedance of the Li/Li symmetric cell results reveal that a Li/Li symmetric cell with DMTFA is stable due to the formation of a LiF protective layer on the Li metal, which suppresses the RM shuttle effect, improving the interface stability of Li and the electrolyte and also restraining the growth of dendrite during cell cycling. This work may provide a novel strategy for designing a protective layer for Li anodes in Li-O2 batteries when using an RM.Noncentrosymmetric monolayers (MLs) of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) and their 3R-type vertical stacks provide an ideal platform for studying atomic-scale nonlinear light-matter interaction in terms of second harmonic generation (SHG). Unlike the case of MLs, SHG from artificial stacks can be nontrivially affected by interlayer coupling and band offset between the constituent MLs, where the latter occurs for band-gap-engineered vertical heterostructures (VHs). In order to study these effects, we produced different sets of 3R-type homobilayers (homo-BLs) and heterobilayers (hetero-BLs) composed of MoS2 and its ternary alloy MoS2(1-x)Se2x. We first investigated the impact of interlayer coupling on the SHG response across the A- and B-exciton resonances in the MoS2 homo-BLs. The coupling strength was varied by preparing (i) decoupled BLs (SiO2 intercalated), (ii) weakly coupled BLs (dry transferred), and (iii) strongly coupled BLs (postannealed) and monitored by photoluminescence, Raman, and reflectance difference spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy. Unlike the decoupled BL, SHG in the coupled BLs cannot be explained by the simple square law in thickness due to coupling-induced band modification. The impact of exciton-resonance offset on SHG was also investigated in the hetero-BLs by controlling the Se concentration in MoS2xSe2(x-1). Although these VHs can significantly broaden the spectral range for efficient SHG by vertically superposing distinct resonances of the constituent MLs, coherent reinforcement of SHG cannot be achieved basically because of the π/2 phase difference between the on-resonance SHG field in one ML and the off-resonance SHG field in the other ML. Upon postannealing, however, the overlapping resonance regime exhibited unexpectedly high SHG enhancement. This may arise from the formation of the strong resonance when the VHs approach ideal 3R-type hetero-BLs. Our approach may be utilized for fully exploiting the TMDC VHs for highly efficient broadband SHG applications.Extracellular vesicles (EVs) released by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have exhibited regenerative capability in animal models of ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) acute kidney injury (AKI) and are considered as potential alternatives to direct MSC therapy. selleck chemical However, real-time in vivo imaging of MSC-EVs in renal I/R injury has yet to be established. Renal intracellular targets of MSC-EVs responsible for their regenerative effects also remain elusive. Here, we report that we real-time observed MSC-EVs specifically accumulated in the injured kidney and were taken up by renal proximal tubular epithelia cells (TECs) via DPA-SCP with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics. DPA-SCP precisely tracked the fate of MSC-EVs in a renal I/R injury mouse model for 72 h and exhibited superior spatiotemporal resolution and tracking ability to popular commercially available EV tracker PKH26. Further analysis revealed that the accumulated MSC-EVs stimulated mitochondrial antioxidant defense and ATP production via activating the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling pathway, which protected TECs against oxidative insult by reducing mitochondrial fragmentation, normalizing mitochondrial membrane potential, and increasing mitochondrial DNA copy number. Increased microRNA-200a-3p expression in renal TECs induced by MSC-EVs was identified as a regulatory mechanism contributing to the protective actions on mitochondria as well as stimulating the renal signal transduction pathways. In conclusion, MSC-EVs accumulated in the renal tubules during renal I/R injury and promoted the recovery of kidney function via activating the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling pathway and enhancing mitochondrial function of TECs. DPA-SCP with AIE characteristics allows noninvasive and precise in vivo visualization of MSC-EVs in kidney repair. We demonstrate the hot electron injection of photoexcited carriers in an Ag-based plasmon resonant grating structure. By varying the incident angle of irradiation, sharp dips are observed in the reflectance with p-polarized light (electric field perpendicular to grating lines) when there is wavevector matching between the incident light and the plasmon resonant modes of the grating and no angle dependence is observed with s-polarized light. This configuration enables us to compare photoelectrochemical current produced by plasmon resonant excitation with that of bulk metal interband absorption simply by rotating the polarization of the incident light while keeping all other parameters of the measurement fixed. With 633 nm light, we observed a 12-fold enhancement in the photocurrent (i.e., reaction rate) between resonant and nonresonant polarizations at incident angles of ±7.6° from normal. At 785 nm irradiation, we observed similar resonant profiles to those obtained with 633 nm wavelength light but with a 44-fold enhancement factor.
