Commonly used strategies include repeated intraocular injections of low-dose methotrexate or local radiotherapy, with great inconvenience, long-term side effects, and high risk of CNS relapse. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitors (BTKi) in the treatment of VRL. This prospective single-center study enrolled patients with relapsed or newly diagnosed VRL between October 2020 and April 2022. Patients received BTKi monotherapy until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. The primary endpoint was the disease control (DC) rate after one month of treatment; secondary endpoints include toxicity, overall survival (OS), and progression-free survival (PFS). Ten consecutive patients with VRL were enrolled into this study. After 1-month treatment, 9 patients (90%) achieved a DC, with 7 patients (70%) achieving a complete response (CR). With a median follow-up of 8.3 (2.5-21.4) months, 4 patients were confirmed to have disease progression, with a PFS of 1.2, 7.5, 9.1, and 11.6 months, respectively. The remaining 6 patients have durable control of disease and were still on treatment at time of the analysis. BTKi were well-tolerated and no patients discontinued the drug because of adverse events. In conclusion, targeting BTK in VRL is viable, and our findings could pave the way for a paradigm change in VRL therapy choices. Further large-scale studies, however, are required to give stronger evidence about the efficacy and safety.Near-infrared-II (NIR-II, 1000-1700 nm) light-triggered photothermal therapy (PTT) has been regarded as a promising candidate for cancer treatment, but PTT alone often fails to achieve satisfactory curative outcomes. Hollow nanoplatforms prove to be attractive in the biomedical field owing to the merits including good biocompatibility, intrinsic physical-chemical nature and unique hollow structures, etc. On one hand, hollow nanoplatforms themselves can be NIR-II photothermal agents (PTAs), the cavities of which are able to carry diverse therapeutic units to realize multi-modal therapies. On the other hand, NIR-II PTAs are capable of decorating on the surface to combine with the functions of components encapsulated inside the hollow nanoplatforms for synergistic cancer treatment. Notably, PTAs generally can serve as good photoacoustic imaging (PAI) contrast agents (CAs), which means such kind of hollow nanoplatforms are also expected to be multifunctional all-in-one nanotheranostics. In this review, the recent advances of NIR-II hollow nanoplatforms for single-modal PTT, dual-modal PTT/photodynamic therapy (PDT), PTT/chemotherapy, PTT/catalytic therapy and PTT/gas therapy as well as multi-modal PTT/chemodynamic therapy (CDT)/chemotherapy, PTT/chemo/gene therapy and PTT/PDT/CDT/starvation therapy (ST)/immunotherapy are summarized for the first time. Before these, the typical synthetic strategies for hollow structures are presented, and lastly, potential challenges and perspectives related to these novel paradigms for future research and clinical translation are discussed.Age-related diseases account for almost half of all diseases among adults worldwide, and their incidence is substantially affected by the exposome, which is the sum of all exogenous and endogenous environmental exposures and the human body's response to these exposures throughout the entire lifespan. Herein, we perform a comprehensive review of the epidemiological literature to determine the key elements of the exposome that affect the development of age-related diseases and the roles of aging hallmarks in this process. We find that most exposure assessments in previous aging studies have used a reductionist approach, whereby the effect of only a single environmental factor or a specific class of environmental factors on the development of age-related diseases has been examined. As such, there is a lack of a holistic and unbiased understanding of the effect of multiple environmental factors on the development of age-related diseases. To address this, we propose several research strategies based on an exposomic framework that could advance our understanding-in particular, from a mechanistic perspective-of how environmental factors affect the development of age-related diseases. We discuss the statistical methods and other methods that have been used in exposome-wide association studies, with a particular focus on multiomics technologies. We also address future challenges and opportunities in the realm of multidisciplinary approaches and genome-exposome epidemiology. Furthermore, we provide perspectives on precise public health services for vulnerable populations, public communications, the integration of risk exposure information, and the bench-to-bedside translation of research on age-related diseases.
Gaps in sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing can lead to poor health outcomes due to untreated illness among youth living with HIV (YLHIV). Thus, the objective of this study is to examine STI testing behavior and outcomes among a sample of YLHIV in the southern United States. Colcemid Clinical records of 139 YLHIV who received HIV care in Alabama (2017-2020) were evaluated for receipt of STI testing (gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis), prevalence of positive test results, and factors associated with testing outcomes (933 clinical visits).

Nearly 80% of our sample identified as African American, most were 20-24 years, and about 60% reported detectable viral load at first visit during the study period. Just under 60% of cisgender male and transgender female clients reported receipt of at least one STI test, compared to less than 40% of cisgender females. Identifying as a cisgender male and having been diagnosed with HIV related to sex with men were associated with greater likelihood receiving STI testing. Cisgender males reported higher rates of positive syphilis test results than cisgender females; the highest rates of positive STI tests were among transgender females. Results underscore need for providers to promote routine STI testing to YLHIV.

Anaemia is among the top list of the contemporarily public health burden in both developed and developing countries, by affecting mainly women's and children's health.

This study aimed to identify the burden of anaemia and its individual and community level factors among women in The Gambia.

This study was based on an extensive national survey, Gambian Demographic and Health Survey. A total weighted sample of 5,858 reproductive-age women was included. Because of the hierarchical nature of the DHS data, a multi-level logistic regression model was applied to study individual and community-level factors that may influence anaemia. A 95% confidence interval and a p-value of less than 0.05 were used to declare statistical significance.

The overall prevalence of anemia was found 44.28% (95% CI 0.43, 0.46). Current users of contraceptives were (AOR = 0.66, 95% CI (0.55- 0.79)) and currently pregnant (AOR = 1.44. 95% CI (1.16, 1.81)) less likely and more likely to develop anaemia compared to their counterparty of health facilities, community mobilization, and awareness enhancement are also advisable.
Squamous cell carcinoma of the external auditory canal (EACSCC) is an uncommon tumor and responsible for no more than 0.2% of all the head and neck malignancies. Although there is remarkable research evidence exhibiting that high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) accounts for considerable head and neck malignancies, its role in the pathogenesis of EACSCC is yet to be determined.

We evaluated 16 patients with EACSCC treated at our department. We employed PCR to assay for high-risk subtypes of HPV. Two pathologists reviewed the histopathological staining via hematoxylin and eosin along with immunohistochemical staining of p16
and Ki‑67.

Detection of HPV DNA was done via PCR in 3 (18.75%) patients, and 8 (50%) positive (+) cases were determined via p16
immunostaining. Besides, 3 (37.5%) individuals were HPV positive as per p16
PCR results. In addition, all of the p16
-positive specimens were diagnosed as moderately differentiated carcinomas.

immunostaining is a suspectable approach for diagnosing HPV for EACSCC. In addition, HPV might enhance an elevated proliferation rate in EACSCC, illustrated via expression of Ki-67.

Anti-leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 encephalitis is a newly emerged entity characterized by frequent faciobrachial dystonic seizures and a wide spectrum of subacute clinical symptoms such as other seizure types, mood and behavioral changes, and memory loss. We should be aware of differentiating this diagnosis from psychogenic nonepileptic seizures. Mesial temporal, limbic structures, and basal ganglia are the most commonly involved regions.

Here we review the available data, and report on two young Iranian (White) females, 24 and 18years old, who represent distinct aspects of the disease. The clinical presentation and degree of tissue involvement varies to some extent in the two reported cases. Case 1 had prominent neuropsychiatric symptoms and suffered from frequent faciobrachial dystonic seizures with more significant basal ganglia involvement, whereas case 2 suffered from severe memory decline and dialeptic seizures along with mesial temporal involvement. Symptoms were refractory to usual treatment and prompt immunotherapy was needed.
