miR-181b-5p expression in the serum and tissues was upregulated and associated with lymph node metastasis and TNM stage. Increased expression of miR-181b-5p had relatively high diagnostic accuracy and showed poor prognosis in CCA patients. In addition, miR-181b-5p overexpression enhanced cell proliferation, migration, and invasion by targeting PARK2. Overexpression of miR-181b-5p activated the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, while knockdown of miR-181b-5p suppressed the signaling pathway. Increased expression of miR-181b-5p in CCA may be a potential diagnostic or/and prognostic indicator for CCA patients. The present data indicated miR-181b-5p acted as an oncogene in CCA through promoting tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion of CCA via the PTEN/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway by targeting PARK2, which might be a promising therapeutic target or biomarker for CCA.
Postpancreatectomy morbidity remains significant even in high-volume centers and frequently results in delay or suspension of indicated adjuvant oncological treatment. This study investigated the short-term and long-term outcome after primary total pancreatectomy (PTP) and pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy (PPPD) or Whipple procedure, with a special focus on administration of adjuvant therapy and oncological survival.

Patients who underwent PTP or PPPD/Whipple for periampullary cancer between January 2008 and December 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Propensity score-matched analysis was performed to compare perioperative and oncological outcomes. Correspondingly, cases of rescue completion pancreatectomy (RCP) were analyzed.

In total, 41 PTP and 343 PPPD/Whipple procedures were performed for periampullary cancer. After propensity score matching, morbidity (Clavien-Dindo classification (CDC) ≥ IIIa, 31.7% vs. 24.4%; p = 0.62) and mortality rates (7.3% vs. 2.4%, p = 0.36) were similar in PTP glucose tolerance, PTP may provide a safe treatment alternative to pancreatic head resection.
Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) has, to date, been diagnosed in over 130 million persons worldwide and is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Several variants of concern have emerged including those in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Brazil. SARS-CoV-2 can cause a dysregulated inflammatory response known as a cytokine storm, which can progress rapidly to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), multi-organ failure, and death. Suppressing these cytokine elevations may be key to improving outcomes. Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) is a simple, non-invasive procedure whereby a blood pressure cuff is inflated and deflated on the upper arm for several cycles. "RIC in COVID-19" is a pilot, multi-center, randomized clinical trial, designed to ascertain whether RIC suppresses inflammatory cytokine production.

A minimum of 55 adult patients with diagnosed COVID-19, but not of critical status, will be enrolled from centers in the United Kingdom, Brazil, and South Africa. RIC will be administered daily for up to 15days. The primary outcome is the level of inflammatory cytokines that are involved in the cytokine storm that can occur following SARS-CoV-2 infection. The secondary endpoint is the time between admission and until intensive care admission or death. The in vitro cytotoxicity of patient blood will also be assessed using primary human cardiac endothelial cells.

The results of this pilot study will provide initial evidence on the ability of RIC to suppress the production of inflammatory cytokines in the setting of COVID-19.

To assess the efficacy and safety of low-dose prasugrel compared to clopidogrel based on the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) and major bleeding in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases were systematically searched up to May 2020 to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies. A meta-analysis was conducted using a random effects model to estimate relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The primary efficacy and safety endpoints were MACE and major bleeding, respectively.

Three RCTs (n = 2884) and five observational studies (n = 30,117) were included. A meta-analysis of RCTs revealed no significant differences in terms of MACE (RR 0.92, 95% CI 0.74 to 1.16) or major bleeding (RR 0.97, 95% CI 0.57 to 1.65) between low-dose prasugrel and clopidogrel. A meta-analysis of observational studies revealed no significant difference in terms of MACE (RR 1.13, 95% CI 0.82 to 1.55) between the two groups, but low-dose prasugrel was associated with a significantly increased risk of major bleeding (RR 1.33, 95% CI 1.02 to 1.72).

We found that low-dose prasugrel was not associated with changes in MACE or major bleeding compared with clopidogrel in RCTs. However, analysis of data from observational studies revealed that low-dose prasugrel was associated with an increased risk of major bleeding compared with clopidogrel.

This study was conducted to genetic parameters for production and reproductive traits on Indian Karan-Fries cattle using multi-trait repeatability animal model. Data collected from ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, India (from 1988 to 2019) were used. Single-trait and multi-trait repeatability animal models were used for parameter estimation. The posterior mean of Heritability estimates for 305-day milk yield (305-DMY), lactation milk yield (LMY), lactation length (LL) were 0.20 ± 0.03, 0.19 ± 0.03 and 0.06 ± 0.02, respectively. For age at first calving (AFC), calving interval (CI), and days open (DO), the posterior mean of heritability estimates were 0.24 ± 0.08, 0.06 ± 0.01, and 0.07 ± 0.02, respectively. The repeatability estimates for 305-DMY, LMY, LL, CI, and DO were 0.37 ± 0.02, 0.34 ± 0.02, 0.15 ± 0.02, 0.09 ± 0.02, and 0.12 ± 0.02, respectively. Genetic correlation between milk production traits (305-DMY, LMYestimates for both productive and reproductive traits over univariate analysis, future selection with a multi-trait animal model applying Bayesian approach would be recommended.Level of Evidence IV This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. The study was a secondary analysis of cross-sectional data collected from soldiers at a military installation in 2018 (n = 9,052). IPV was defined as any self-reported perpetration of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse of an intimate partner. Multivariable negative binomial regressions were used to assess the association between pornography use and any lifetime perpetration of IPV, controlling for gender, age group, race/ethnicity, relationship status, educational status, military rank, hazardous drinking, depression, stimulant use, depressant use, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Of the population analyzed, 41% of soldiers reported any pornography use per week, and 9.6% reported perpetrating any form of IPV. Soldiers who reported pornography use had between a 1.72- and 3.56-fold greater likelihood of reporting any lifetime perpetration of IPV, controlling for covariates. Given the prevalence and detrimental effects of IPV, longitudinal studies should be designed to further understand predictors of IPV in military populations.Men's sexual violence against women is pervasive and is commonly committed against young women by intimate partners. Limited research has examined occurrence rates of intimate partner sexual violence among university students separated by various tactics and sexual acts. Using surveys with convenience samples of 142 Canadian university women and 441 Canadian university men, we examined women's self-reported intimate partner sexual violence victimization and men's self-reported perpetration rates in their most recent heterosexual intimate relationship in the past year. We examined a detailed breakdown across different tactics (i.e., verbal coercion, intoxication, and threats of harm/physical force) and sexual acts (i.e., nonpenetrative sexual contact; oral, vaginal, and anal penetration). Thirty-three percent of women reported at least one victimization experience, and 16% of men reported at least one perpetration experience. The most common tactic reported was verbal coercion for both women's victimization and men's perpetration, and the most common sexual act reported was vaginal penetration for women's victimization and oral sex for men's perpetration. We also examined contextual features and perceptions of the effects of perpetrators' most memorable incidents. These most memorable incidents often occurred either in their own or their partner's home and involved alcohol consumption. CB1954 DNA alkylator chemical Most men reported no significant effects of their sexual violence on their relationships and sometimes normalized their behavior. We briefly discuss the implications of our results for future research and interventions.
To investigate the effects of stem cells from the pulp of human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) on biphasic calcium phosphate granules (BCP) to repair rat calvarial defects as compared to autogenous bone grafting.

A defect with a 6-mm diameter was produced on the calvaria of 50 rats. BCP granules were incorporated into SHED cultures grown for 7 days in conventional (CM) or osteogenic (OM) culture media. The animals were allocated into 5 groups of 10, namely clot, autogenous bone, BCP, BCP+SHED in CM (BCP-CM), and BCP+SHED in OM (BCP-OM). The presence of newly formed bone and residual biomaterial particles was assessed by histometric analysis after 4 and 8 weeks.

The autogenous group showed the largest newly formed bone area at week 8 and in the entire experimental period, with a significant difference in relation to the other groups (P<0.05). At week 8, BCP-CM and BCP-OM groups showed homogeneous new bone formation (P=0.13). When considering the entire experimental period, the BCP group had the highest percentage of residual particle area, with no significant difference from the BCP-CM group (P=0.06) and with a significant difference from the BCP-OM group (P=0.01). BCP-CM and BCP-OM groups were homogeneous throughout the experimental period (P=0.59).

BCP incorporated into SHED cultures showed promising outcomes, albeit less pronounced than autogenous grafting, for the repair of rat calvarial defects.

BCP incorporated into SHED cultures showed to be an alternative in view of the disadvantages to obtain autogenous bone graft.
