Four to six million patients a year in the United States suffer from chronic pain caused by facet joint degeneration. Striving for goals is a key part of psychological therapy, but people often struggle to translate their goals into action. Prior evidence has found that forming if then plans (or 'implementation intentions') is an effective way to bridge the gap between goals and action. However, it is unclear if therapists naturally prompt their clients to form implementation intentions and, if not, whether training would be feasible. METHOD AND RESULTS STUDY 1 Researchers coded the behavior change techniques used in 40 sessions of therapy for depression using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach and a Person-Centered Experiential Therapy approach and found that therapists do not typically prompt their clients to form implementation intentions in either therapeutic approach. METHOD AND RESULTS STUDIES 2 AND 3 The aim was to develop and evaluate a training program for therapists on implementation intentions. Training was delivered face-to-face to 69 cognitive-behavioral therapists (Study 2), and online to 87 therapists working across models (Study 3) and therapists completed self-report measures of their use and knowledge of implementation intentions before training, post-training, and follow-up. The training significantly increased therapists' use and knowledge of implementation intentions.

Racism is a determinant of adverse health outcomes, but the epidemiological implications of the recent wave of xenophobic policies have not been well studied. The 2017 travel ban on individuals from Muslim majority countries is an example of such policy efforts in the United States. Using the 2009-2018 National Center for Health Statistics period linked infant birth-death data, we used time series methods to compare the monthly odds of preterm births to women from travel ban countries (Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen) after the January 2017 travel ban to the number expected had the ban not been implemented. We estimated our counterfactual from the history of preterm birth among women born in countries included in the ban as well as trends in preterm birth among native-born non-Hispanic (NH) White women. Among the 18,945,795 singleton live births included in our study period (including 191,121 born to women from banned countries), the average monthly rate of births that were preterm birth was 8.5% (range 6.8%, 10.6%) among women born in the countries affected by the ban and 8.6% (range 7.7%, 9.8%) among native-born NH White women. Our results show an increase in the odds of preterm birth among infants born to women from travel ban countries in September 2017 and persisting through the cohort born in August 2018. Yet the existence of several agencies in the same polycentric regulatory regime raises questions about whether and how their work can be coordinated. Drawing on a case study of GPOs and HTA agencies across four provinces in Canada, involving document review and key informant interviews (n = 44) conducted between 2013 and 2016, we explore the separate evolution of these agencies, emerging connections between them for non-drug technologies, and the organizational processes and evaluative judgments that underpin coordination efforts. HTA agencies and GPOs developed separately; connections emerged recently in three provinces and suggest four modes of coordination. One mode aligns most closely with that recommended by health economists and HTA practitioners, whereby HTA precedes procurement, with coverage decisipersist, mutual accommodation and shared learning may prove most productive.A series of 4-pyridylpiperazine derivatives with varying regulatory region substituents proved to be potent histamine H3 receptor (H3R) ligands in the nanomolar concentration range. The most influential modification that affected the affinity toward the H3R appeared by introducing electron-withdrawing moieties into the distal aromatic ring. Of these, compound 6a possesses remarkable in vitro cytotoxic activity by arresting cell cycle and inducing apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells. Subsequently, acute toxicity assay showed that 6a at 20 mg/kg has no apparent toxicity to the major organ in mice. In addition, compound 6ain vivo suppressed breast cancer 4T1 tumor growth. Taken together, these results indicate that compound 6a may be a potential anticancer agent for further development.
