Graft evaluation after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is still not sufficient. This study analyzed the flow waveform of coronary arteries and grafts during intra-aortic balloon pumping (IABP) assist.
Subjects were eight pigs that underwent off-pump CABG. Using transit-time flow measurement (TTFM) and occluder, blood flow waveforms were recorded while changing the degree of stenosis of Seg.6 and the left internal thoracic artery (LITA) and analyzed by percentage of reverse flow component to the total blood flow (R/T) and the ratio of diastolic blood flow of IABP operative and IABP inoperative (D1/D0).
Reverse flow of the LITA was reduced when stenosis of Seg.6 increased and R/T decreased. The average diastolic blood flow of Seg.8 and the LITA increased with IABP on showing a D1/D0 of 1 or more. R/T of the LITA increased when stenosis of Seg.6 was fixed and increasing the degree of LITA stenosis. D1/D0 increased up to a 75% LITA stenosis and is decreased in more severe stenosis.
R/T is significantly higher in the antagonist or stenosis during IABP assist and was able to confirm the effectiveness of the graft as a functional assessment of graft. D1/D0 is useful as an indicator of the effectiveness of IABP on coronary blood flow.

Outbreaks due to Myroides spp. have rarely been described in the literature to date. We report a healthcare-associated outbreak of urinary tract infections (UTIs), caused by Myroides odoratimimus, in a Turkish hospital. As of March 2019 until May 2019, 6 strains of M. odoratimimus were isolated from the urine samples of patients, all of whom were hospitalized in intensive care units. After identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing using the VITEK 2 system, MALDI-TOF-MS and 16S rRNA-based sequencing methods were performed for confirmation and species-level identification. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) was performed in order to investigate the clonal relatedness of the isolates. All the patients were immunocompromised and underwent urinary catheterization. None of the patients had urinary neoplasm, surgery, or calculi. VITEK 2 and MALDI-TOF-MS systems revealed that the isolates belonged to the Myroides genus; however, the aforementioned systems neglected to identify the isolates at the species level. The isolates were all successfully identified as M. odoratimimus through 16S rRNA-based sequencing. The isolates were resistant to every antibiotic tested. All isolates had an indistinguishable PFGE pattern, thus indicating cross-transmission between cases. Although M. odoratimimus is rarely isolated from human specimens, clinicians should be aware of its ability to cause UTIs and infectious outbreaks. This in vitro study was performed to evaluate the surface roughness (Ra) and morphology by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of composite resins that had been stored in acidic solutions typical of those present in the diet. Three composite resins (4 Seasons, Z250, and P90) were selected and divided into three groups (n = 7) according to the solutions tested G1 distilled water; G2, Coca-cola, and G3 orange juice. The Ra test was repeated after immersion periods of 15, 90, and 180 days. The mean Ra values were subjected to LS means analysis and the Tukey-Kramer (P less then 0.05). One test specimen of each composite resin was selected for SEM analysis after each period. The Ra data indicated that P90 had the lowest Ra values. 4 Seasons and Z250 had statistically similar roughness values for all the solutions and evaluation periods. With the exception of 180-day immersion in Coca-cola, 4 Seasons showed significantly higher values than Z250. Olaparib clinical trial SEM analysis showed that P90 was the composite resin most resistant to the actions of all acid solutions for the periods analyzed. Interaction between components of the solutions and the active components of other dietary items, as well as oral hygiene, may affect the chemical degradation of composite resins.Fruitful progress and change have been accomplished in epilepsy surgery as science and technology advance. Stereotactic electroencephalography (SEEG) was originally developed by Talairach and Bancaud at Hôspital Sainte-Anne in the middle of the 20th century. SEEG has survived, and is now being recognized once again, especially with the development of neurosurgical robots. Many epilepsy centers have already replaced invasive monitoring with subdural electrodes (SDEs) by SEEG with depth electrodes worldwide. SEEG has advantages in terms of complication rates as shown in the previous reports. However, it would be more indispensable to demonstrate how much SEEG has contributed to improving seizure outcomes in epilepsy surgery. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) has been an only implantable device since 1990s, and has obtained the autostimulation mode which responds to ictal tachycardia. In addition to VNS, responsive neurostimulator (RNS) joined in the options of palliative treatment for medically refractory epilepsy. RNS is winning popularity in the United States because the device has abilities of both neurostimulation and recording of ambulatory electrocorticography (ECoG). Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has also attained approval as an adjunctive therapy in Europe and the United States. Ablative procedures such as SEEG-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RF-TC) and laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) have been developed as less invasive options in epilepsy surgery. There will be more alternatives and tools in this field than ever before. Consequently, we will need to define benefits, indications, and limitations of these new technologies and concepts while adjusting ourselves to a period of fundamental transition in our foreseeable future. We occasionally encounter situations which requires retraction of the guiding system or administration of vasodilatory agents for mechanically induced vasospasm (MVS). However, whether MVS is associated with postoperative cerebral infarction has not been reported. To explore factors associated with MVS and to verify how MVS influences procedure outcomes,we reviewed consecutive cases of unruptured aneurysms in the anterior circulation treated with coil embolization between January 2017 and February 2020. Collected data included patients' clinical characteristics, devices, vessel tortuosity, severity of MVS, diameter of the parent vessel, and procedure duration. Significant MVS was defined as a condition necessitating a pause in the procedure. We also counted postoperative diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) hyperintense spots (DHS). Parameters associated with MVS and postoperative DHS were investigated by multivariate logistic regression.A total of 103 cases met the eligibility criteria, with significant MVS occurring in 21 cases (20.
