wise, it must remain committed to a timely vaccination program.
decreased vaccination coverage for vaccine-preventable diseases could cause parallel outbreaks with COVID-19 and further exacerbate the strain on health systems attempting to end the acute phase of this pandemic. Therefore, as the dramatic second wave unfolds, the Government of Nigeria must take deliberate steps to strike a balance between a fresh lockdown and the imperative of uninterrupted social service. In this wise, it must remain committed to a timely vaccination program.
the limited number of equipped laboratories and the lack of expertise left Africa lagging behind in terms of contribution in genomic data generation. The COVID-19 pandemic has drawn the attention of all public health stakeholders so that it can be used as a marker of the efforts that public health systems can produced. The main purpose of the present analytical study was to evaluate the contribution of the African continent in the genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2.
data from the two most popular genomic databases on SARS-CoV-2 (GISAID EpiCov and NCBI Virus) were extracted and analyzed. Comparisons were made using the sequencing ratio which represents the number of genomic sequence published over one thousands confirmed cases.
considering continental blocks, the Africa occupied the fourth place after Oceania, Europe and North America based on sequencing ratios. However, when the considered comparison parameter is the number of sequences, the African continent was the fifth contributor after Europe, North America, Asia and South America.
the study showed that African countries have effectively integrated the genomic data generation in the public health response strategies but the effective use of these data for a perfect surveillance is not clearly established. There is a need for capacity building in genomic data analyses for a better response to public health threats in Africa.

the benefits of physical activity have been approved in oncology care. This is why healthcare professionals must play a principle role in promoting physical activity during all cancer care pathway. The purpose of this study was to explore and compare physicians' and nurses' knowledge and views toward physical activity advice in oncology care.
this cross-sectional study included Moroccan physicians and nurses specialized in oncology. Participants were asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire. The inferential statistics were performed to find a difference between physicians' and nurses' knowledge and views.
questionnaires were returned by 154 healthcare professionals (response rate 48. 6%). The majority was informed about the physical activity benefits in oncology. The physicians seem to be more informed than nurses about physical activity benefits in oncology (Chi-squared test, p=0.016). The majority thought that physical activity is beneficial in post-treatment (59.7%), while 24% only granted these benefits in the palliative care. The Participants expressed positive views about physical activity in oncology, especially nurses who seem to agree the most with implementation of a physical activity program in the hospital (Mann-Withney, p=0.04). The majority of participants stated that there are some clinical factors related to the patient that constitute a barrier of physical activity advising.
the lack of knowledge, self-declared by the majority of participants, underlines the need to strengthen training actions about physical activity advice in health professionals, especially nurses for people with cancer.

The incorporation of immunisation-related content into nursing and midwifery education is essential to improve and strengthen immunisation service delivery, disease surveillance, logistics, communication and management practices. Clinical and public health training incorporating learning objectives on immunisation that are specific to the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), will enable students to develop a firm basis of core knowledge and skills in immunisation. To assist health training institutions in the African Region and to facilitate the systematic revision of EPI curricula, two prototype curricula, one for medical and one for nursing/midwifery schools, were developed by WHO/AFRO, NESI/University of Antwerp and other partners in 2006 and revised in 2015. Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has been at the forefront in revising and updating their institutional EPI curriculum for the pre-service Kenyan Registered Community Health Nursing programme based on the EPI prototype curriculum. Building on the successful strengthening of the EPI curriculum, KMTC will now embark on improving education and training for effective vaccine and cold chain management for selected training programmes. The different steps taken by KMTC to strengthen EPI teaching and learning can support other health training institutions who are willing to integrate the content of the EPI prototype curriculum in their own institutional curricula by adapting them to the local context.Acute pancreatitis during the postpartum period or during pregnancy is rare. Biliary disease is the most common cause of acute pancreatitis, followed by hypertriglyceridemia. We here report the case of a 19-year-old patient with acute pancreatitis occurring 4 weeks after delivery and revealed by epigastralgia radiating to the back, lipasemia more than 36 times the normal limit and etiologic investigation that gave negative results. Early diagnosis of acute pancreatitis during the postpartum period is a challenge for clinicians because it is rare and differential diagnosis includes multiple disorders.Snake bite is the most severe type of envenomation. Annual incidence exceeds six million, with high mortality rates. Viper bites are often responsible for coagulopathy, which causes bleeding disorders. However, ischemic complications are rare. We here report the case of a 6-year-old girl victim of a viper [genus Cerastes] bite in the left ankle. She was admitted with disorders of consciousness and disseminated intravascular coagulation 4 days after the bite. Clinical examination showed left hemiparesis and left lower limb viperin syndrome. Brain CT scan objectified right temporoparietal ischemia. The patient outcome was marked by neurological worsening, requiring mechanical ventilation. Stroke, in particular ischemic stroke secondary to severe snake envenomation, is exceptional. The physiopathological mechanism has not been clearly elucidated but it appears to be multifactorial. Then new studies are needed.Urine protein electrophoresis is often required for diagnosis and monitoring of urological or renal diseases and lymphoid hemopathies. selleck chemicals We here report an uncommon urine protein electrophoresis result. The test was performed using agarose gel electrophoresis and capillary electrophoresis. It was a monoclonal peak of unknown significance migrating with gammaglobulins. Scientific literature and the tests performed demonstrated that it was myoglobin. In fact, myoglobin (17 kDa) is freely filtered by the glomerulus and normally reabsorbed by the tubules. If tubule capacity for reabsorption is exceeded, its presence results in overcharging proteinuria. Myoglobinuria helped diagnose rhabdomyolysis in our patient. Thus, the analysis of unknown peaks, can provide information on symptoms but also underlying pathologies, which may be of clinical interest.Secukinumab, an anti-IL-17 monoclonal antibody, has been used to treat psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis since 2015. Several adverse events were reported, such as diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, middle ear infection, and neutropenia. Here we report a probable case of autoimmune hemolytic anemia in a 39 years old male with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis treated with secukinumab. Hemolytic anemia detected after first maintenance dose after completion of induction dose of secukinumab. The patient also had other comorbids, soft tissue infection that also predisposed to autoimmune hemolytic anemia, but secukinumab is still a possible etiology for drug-induced autoimmune hemolytic anemia based on Naranjo´s score. The patient decided to continue secukinumab treatment, interestingly hemoglobin levels improved.Hepatic injuries have been reported in patients with Coronavirus disease 2019 infection, particularly in those with moderate to severe illness. To date, pathological changes caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in liver tissue are unclear. Moreover, the mechanisms involved in liver injury in Coronavirus disease 2019 infection are not yet established. In this paper, we summarize the spectrum of pathologic findings of liver injury in patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 and we discuss the clinicopathological correlation and the mechanisms of liver damage in Coronavirus disease 2019 infection.Limbic encephalitis is often due to an autoimmune or paraneoplastic disease and is always a diagnostic challenge. We report a 31-year-old lady who presented with fever and proximal weakness to start with and afterwards developed refractory focal onset seizures and worsening cognition despite optimum treatment. Evaluation revealed hypokalemia with a normal anion gap metabolic acidosis. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain showed features of limbic encephalitis. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) showed lymphocytosis and CSF autoimmune, paraneoplastic and viral encephalitis panel were negative. However a blood ANA profile clinched the diagnosis when SS-A and Ro 52 were strongly positive. She was given steroids and subsequently plasma exchange. A labial gland biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of Sjögren syndrome. In cases of autoimmune limbic encephalitis with no identifiable cause, serological screening for rheumatological disorders is recommended. Sjögren syndrome is a rare aetiology for autoimmune limbic encephalitis. A detailed history and a step wise approach is always the key to the right diagnosis.Vaccines are considered as a therapeutic area for children; the scientific community focuses mainly on managing chronic disease when it comes to adults. There currently is an increase in the burden of vaccine preventable illnesses in adults. Adult vaccination has been shown to dramatically increase the health and quality of life of older populations. Therefore, adult vaccinations need to be approached as a public health issue, similar to smoking cessation programs, for example. According to the Kenya Non-Communicable Diseases and injuries poverty commission report, 2018. Kenya has a high percentage of disability adjusted life years (DALYs) from communicable diseases at 63%, while non-communicable diseases (NCDs) contribute 30% of the DALYs. Specific to pneumococcal pneumonia (PP) in adults, the Global burden of disease (GBD) study in 2016 found that 2,377,697 people of all ages died from lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) in 2016. Of these, more people died from Streptococcus pneumonia(SP) than from all other studied respiratory pathogens combined.
