In vitro, EIP-22 treatment significantly improved cells viabilities and MMP and attenuated the LDH, ROS and apoptosis level. In vivo, EIP-22 distinctly improved cardiac function, ameliorated myocardial infarction area and fibrosis and decreased serum LDH, CK-MB and cTnI level. Mechanistically, JAK/STAT signalling pathway was focussed by RNA-seq and we confirmed that EIP-22 up-regulated the expression of p-JAK2 and p-STAT3. Moreover, AG490, a selective inhibitor of JAK2/STAT3, eliminated the protective roles of EIP-22. The results uncovered that exercise-induced peptide EIP-22 protected cardiomyocytes from myocardial I/R injury via activating JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway and might be a new candidate molecule for the treatment of myocardial I/R injury.Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) effectively treats unresectable primary and metastatic liver tumors through intra-arterial injection of Yttrium-90 (90 Y) beta particle emitting microspheres which implant around the tumor. Current dosimetry models are highly simplistic and there is a large need for an image-based dosimetry post-TARE, which would improve treatment safety and efficacy. Current post-TARE imaging is 90 Y bremsstrahlung SPECT/CT and we study the use of these images for dosimetry. Retrospective image review of ten patients having a Philips HealthcareTM SPECT/CT following TARE SIR-Spheres® implantation. Emission series with attenuation correction were resampled to 3 mm resolution and used to create image-based dose distributions. Dose distributions and analysis were performed in MIM Software SurePlanTM utilizing SurePlanTM Local Deposition Method (LDM) and a dose convolution method (WFBH). We sought to implement a patient-specific background subtraction prior to dose calculation to make these urer allowing for use with any available products or tools. We recently found a negative association between body mass index (BMI) and the risk of localised prostate cancer (PCa), no association with advanced PCa, and a positive association with PCa-specific mortality. In a 15% subpopulation of that study, we here investigated the measures of abdominal adiposity including waist circumference (WC) and A Body Shape Index (ABSI) in relation to PCa risk and mortality. We used data from 58,457 men from four Swedish cohorts to assess WC and ABSI in relation to PCa risk according to cancer risk category, including localised asymptomatic and symptomatic PCa and advanced PCa, and PCa-specific mortality. Cox regression models were used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). During, on average, 10 years of follow-up, 3290 men were diagnosed with PCa and 387 died of PCa. WC was negatively associated with the risk of total PCa (HR per 10 cm, 0.95; 95% CI 0.92-0.99), localised PCa (HR per 10 cm, 0.93, 95% CI 0.88-0.96) and localised asymptomatic PCa cases detected through a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test (HR per 10 cm, 0.87, 95% CI 0.81-0.94). WC was not associated with the risk of advanced PCa (HR per 10 cm, 1.02, 95% CI 0.93-1.14) or with PCa-specific mortality (HR per 10 cm, 1.04, 95% CI 0.92-1.19). ABSI showed no associations with the risk of PCa or PCa-specific mortality. While the negative association between WC and the risk of localised PCa was partially driven by PSA-detected PCa cases, no association was found between abdominal adiposity and clinically manifest PCa in our population.CircRNA-0068481 and several miRNAs are important in the pathogenesis of right ventricular hypertrophy (VH), while the inhibition of eye absent transcriptional coactivator and phosphatase 3 (EYA3) was proved to reverse vascular remodelling in rats. In this study, we tried to study the diagnostic value and mechanistic role of circRNA_0068481 in the diagnosis of RVH in PAH patients. qPCR was done to measure circRNA-0068481, miR-646, miR-750, miR-885 and EYA3 mRNA expression. Luciferase assay was done to explore the regulatory relationship between circRNA-0068481/EYA3 and the miRNAs. Western blot was done to measure EYA3 expression in AC16 cells. The expression of circRNA-0068481, miR-646 and miR-570 showed a considerable capability to diagnose RVH in PAH patients. The luciferase activity of circRNA-0068481 was remarkably suppressed by miR-646, miR-570 or miR-885. The luciferase signal of EYA3 was also inhibited by miR-646, miR-570 and miR-885. Up-regulation of circRNA-0068481 expression in AC16 significantly decreased miR-646, miR-570 and miR-885 expression, and up-regulated EYA3 expression, whereas circRNA-0068481 down-regulation significantly increased miR-646, miR-570 and miR-885 expression, and repressed EYA3 expression. CircRNA_0068481 sponged several miRNAs including miR-646, miR-570 and miR-885. These miRNAs were all found to target the expression of EYA3 mRNA, which is involved in the onset of right ventricular hypertrophy. Therefore, it can be concluded that the up-regulation of circRNA_0068481 can predict the diagnosis of right ventricular hypertrophy in pulmonary arterial hypertension patients.Oxalic acid-producing fungi play an important role in biogeochemical transformations of rocks and minerals and possess biotechnological potential for extraction of valuable elements from primary or waste ores and other solid matrices. This research investigates the extraction of phosphate from rock phosphate (RP) by oxalic acid. Reaction parameters were derived using pure oxalic acid solutions to solubilize RP. MyrcludexB It was found that the oxalic acid concentration was the main factor driving reaction kinetics. Excess oxalic acid could retard the reaction due to calcium oxalate encrustation on RP surfaces. However, complete P extraction was reached at stoichiometric proportions of apatite and oxalic acid. This reaction reached completion after 168 h, although most of the P (up to 75%) was released in less than 1 h. Most of the Ca released from the apatite formed sparingly soluble calcium oxalate minerals, with a predominance of whewellite over weddellite. Bioleaching of RP employing biomass-free spent culture filtrates containing oxalic acid (100 mM) produced by Aspergillus niger extracted ~ 74% of the P contained in the RP. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the reaction between apatite and oxalic acid and provide insights for potential applications of this process for biotechnological production of phosphate fertilizer.
Increased evidence indicates that pain location affects central sensitization (CS)-related symptoms. In addition, pain location and pain duration may be intricately related to CS-related symptoms. However, these factors have been investigated separately. This study aimed to investigate the association between CS-related symptoms and pain location and/or pain duration in patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
Six hundred thirty-five participants with musculoskeletal disorders were included in this cross-sectional study. link2 All participants were assessed for pain location, pain duration, central sensitization inventory (CSI), EuroQol-5 dimension, and brief pain inventory. The participants were categorized into 3 groups based on pain location (spinal, limb, and both spinal and limb pain) and into 2 groups based on pain duration (acute and chronic pain).
The interaction between pain location and pain duration were not significant on CSI score (P>0.05). The odds ratio for higher CSI score (≥40) in patients with both spinal and limb pain vs. those with spinal or limb pain was 2.64 (P<0.01) and that in patients with chronic pain vs. those with acute pain was 1.31 (P=0.52). In addition, the prevalence of higher CSI scores in the combination of chronic and "both spinal and limb" pain was high (23.1%, adjusted residual=4.48).
Pain location independently influenced CSI scores, and the combination of both spinal and limb pain and chronic pain indicated high CSI scores. The combination of pain location and pain duration is an important clue that points to CS-related symptoms.

Extrapyramidal signs (EPS) are a common feature of Alzheimer's disease associated with worse outcomes in observational studies of dementia. Less research has been conducted on ethnic minority and non-clinic-based populations.
One hundred and forty-two multiethnic community-dwelling participants with dementia were selected. Adjusted Cox models were fitted for mortality, cognitive (Mini Mental State Examination ≤10), functional (Blessed Dementia Rating Scale ≥10), and dependency (needs full-time care) endpoints with baseline EPS as predictor.
Thirty-seven participants (26.06%) had EPS at baseline. EPS predicted more rapid time to death (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.76, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.49, 5.42), and functional endpoint (HR = 3.88, 95% CI = 1.75, 8.62) but not cognitive and dependency endpoints. link3 No evidence of interaction by ethnicity, age, sex, education, or apolipoprotein E ε4 polymorphism was found.
Our results partially confirm previous studies on predominantly White, clinic-based samples. Further research is needed to better understand the etiological role of EPS in AD.

Cardiovascular risk factors in midlife have been linked to late life risk for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). The relation of vascular risk factors on cognitive decline within midlife has been less studied.
Using data from the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation, we examined associations of midlife hypertension, elevated lipid levels, diabetes, fasting glucose, central adiposity, and Framingham heart age with rates of cognitive decline in women who completed multiple cognitive assessments of processing speed, and working and verbal memory during midlife.
Diabetes, elevated fasting glucose, central obesity, and heart age greater than chronological age were associated with rate of decline in processing speed during midlife. Vascular risk factors were not related to rate of decline in working or verbal memory.
Midlife may be a critical period for intervening on cardiovascular risk factors to prevent or delay later life cognitive impairment and ADRD.

We have described hydrogen sulfide (H2 S), a signaling molecule important in vascular homeostasis, as a biomarker of cardiovascular disease. We hypothesize that plasma H2 S and its metabolites also relate to vascular and cognitive dysfunction in ADRD. We used analytical biochemical methods to measure plasma H2 S metabolites and MRI to evaluate indicators of microvascular disease in ADRD. Levels of total H2 S and specific metabolites were increased in ADRD versus controls. Cognition and microvascular disease indices were correlated with H2 S levels. Total plasma sulfide was the strongest indicator of ADRD, and partially drove the relationship between cognitive dysfunction and white matter lesion volume, an indicator of microvascular disease. Our findings show that H2 S is dysregulated in dementia, providing a potential biomarker for diagnosis and intervention.
