The mesostructure and histomorphometry of femoral bone was analyzed using SEM Microscope and BoneJ software, then hydroxyapatite crystal size was determined using SEM-XRD. T2DM rats showed a high level of AGEs and a low level of sRAGE, the RUNX2, OSX, and BMP2 expression was down regulated, BV, BV.TV, Tb.Th, Tb.Sp, increased and SMI levels declined, respectively. Vice versa, after administration of the CSN1S2 protein to T2DM rats, improvement in all levels of molecular and cellular markers was achieved. In the CSN1S2 highest dose, AGEs level declined and sRAGE level elevated in T2DM rats. The 375 and 750 mg/kgBW of CSN1S2 protein was able to upregulate the RUNX2, OSX, and BMP2 expression in T2DM rats, thus improving the normalization of osteoclasts and osteoblasts number. The whole dose of CSN1S2 triggered the thickening of trabecular bone wall, granule formation, and normalized the trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) parameter of T2DM rats. The hydroxyapatite crystal size was increased in the highest dose of CSN1S2-treated T2DM rats. This study indicated that CSN1S2 protein had a protective effect against osteoporosis in the T2DM rat bones by means of glycation pathway inhibition, bone histomorphometry and mesostructure improvement via bone morphometric protein signaling.
Obesity is one of the main public health issue in many countries including Turkey. The aim of the study is to test cross-cultural adaptation, reliability, and validity of QOLOD rating scale in Turkish Language.

This methodological study was conducted among the overweight and obesity people between February ? March, 2018 in Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital. The data was collected through self-report and face to face interview. The QOLOD rating scale has 36 items, a five-point Likert scale (1?5) is used for each question.

In the study, of the 180 participants, 101 (56.1%) were female, 79 (43.9%) were male, and the mean age was 43.36 ± 14.28 (min-max 18-87) years. According to the CFA, the Turkish version of QOLOD rating scale shows a multidimensional structure consisting of 34 items. Two items (item 11 and item 35) were excluded from the scale according to the CFA. Cronbach's Alpha value changes between 0.927-0.930.

However, these tests require cold-chain shipping to distribute, and the labor of skilled technicians to assemble reactions and interpret the results. Strategies to reduce shipping and labor costs at the point-of-care could aid in diagnostic testing scale-up and response to the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as in future outbreaks. In this study we test both lab-developed and commercial SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic RT-qPCR mixes for the ability to be stabilized against elevated temperature by lyophilization. Fully assembled reactions were lyophilized and stored for up to a month at ambient or elevated temperature and were subsequently assayed for their ability to detect dilutions of synthetic SARS-CoV-2 RNA. Of the mixes tested, we show that one commercial mix can maintain activity and sensitivity after storage for at least 30 days at ambient temperature after lyophilization. We also demonstrate that lyoprotectants such as disaccharides can stabilize freeze-dried diagnostic reactions against elevated temperatures (up to 50°C) for at least 30 days. We anticipate that the incorporation of these methods into SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic testing will improve testing pipelines by reducing labor at the testing facility and eliminating the need for cold-chain shipping.
Epidemiologic studies examining the relations between dairy product and calcium intakes and breast cancer have been inconclusive, especially for tumor subtypes.

To evaluate the associations between intakes of specific dairy products and calcium and risk of breast cancer overall and for subtypes defined by estrogen receptor (ER) status.

We pooled the individual-level data of over 1 million women who were followed for a maximum of 8-20 years across studies. Associations were evaluated for dairy product and calcium intakes and risk of incident invasive breast cancer overall (n=37,861 cases) and by subtypes defined by ER status. Study-specific multivariable hazard ratios (HRs) were estimated and then combined using random-effects models.

Overall, no clear association was observed between the consumption of specific dairy foods, dietary (from foods only) calcium, and total (from foods and supplements) calcium, and risk of overall breast cancer. Although each dairy product showed a null or very weak inverseonsumption is unlikely to associate with a higher risk of breast cancer and that higher yogurt and cottage/ricotta cheese intakes were inversely associated with the risk of ER-negative breast cancer, a less hormonally dependent subtype with poor prognosis. Future studies on fermented dairy products, earlier life exposures, ER-negative breast cancer, and different racial/ethnic populations may further elucidate the relation.

We aimed to examine the associations of 3 postdiagnostic plant-based diet indices with all-cause mortality in omnivorous long-term colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors.

Diet was assessed with FFQs at a median of 6 years after diagnosis in 1404 CRC survivors (56% male; median age, 69 years) in a Northern German prospective cohort study. An overall, a healthful plant-based, and an unhealthful plant-based diet index were derived by scoring intakes of animal foods reversely and intakes of healthy (whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, oils, tea/coffee) and less healthy plant foods (refined grains, fruit juices, sugar-sweetened beverages, potatoes, sweets/desserts) positively or reversely, depending on the index. Vital status follow-up was conducted via population registries. We measured several B vitamins and biomarkers in participants of the Framingham Offspring Study, and performed analyses of methylmalonic acid (MMA) continuously and <210 nmol/L; pyridoxal-5'-phosphate; vitamin B-12 continuously and ≥258 pmol/L; and folate. The outcomes of interest included areal and volumetric BMD, measured by DXA and quantitative computed tomography (QCT), respectively. We evaluated associations between the bone measures and interactions of single nucleotide polymorphism with a B vitamin or biomarker in Framingham participants (n=4310 for DXA and n=3127 for QCT).
