Albums

Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.

Before Toto was formed the members of the group performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.

Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their previous efforts and was criticized for the absence of hit singles. In 1985, lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group, and the group held auditions for a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto embarked on an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar quit the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.

Toto is a rock group from the United States that was formed in Van Nuys in Greater Los Angeles in 1977. The most popular video of the band is "Africa" that has more than one billion views on YouTube. The video takes place in a library and features the band performing on top of a book about Africa.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and a variety of other countries. The single's success helped Toto regain their popularity after their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.
