CsPbClxBr3-x nanocrystals were prepared by ligand-assisted deposition at room temperature, and their wavelength was accurately adjusted by doping TbCl3. The synthesized nanocrystals were monoclinic and the morphology was almost unchanged after doping. The fluorescence emission of CsPbClxBr3-x nanocrystals was easily controlled from green to blue by adjusting the amount of TbCl3, which realizes the continuous and accurate spectral regulation in the range of green to blue. This method provides a new scheme for fast anion exchange of all-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals in an open environment at room temperature. We report the formation of a sole long nanowire structure and the regular nanowire arrays inside a groove on the surface of Fe-based metallic glass upon irradiation of two temporally delayed femtosecond lasers with the identical linear polarization parallel and perpendicular to the groove, respectively. The regular structure formation can be well observed within the delay time of 20 ps for a given total laser fluence of F = 30 mJ/cm2 and within a total laser fluence range of F = 30-42 mJ/cm2 for a given delay time of 5 ps. The structural features, including the unit width and distribution period, are measured on a one-hundred nanometer scale, much less than the incident laser wavelength of 800 nm. The degree of structure regularity sharply contrasts with traditional observations. To comprehensively understand such phenomena, we propose a new physical model by considering the spin angular momentum of surface plasmon and its enhanced inhomogeneous magnetization for the ferromagnetic metal. Therefore, an intensive TE polarized magnetic surface wave is excited to result in the nanometer-scaled energy fringes and the ablative troughs. The theory is further verified by the observation of nanowire structure disappearance at the larger time delays of two laser pulses. The study is devoted to X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) features of micro- and nanosized powder mixtures of copper and nickel. XRF is a high accuracy method that allows for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. However, the XRF measurement error due to the size of the studied particles is not usually taken into account, which limits the use of the method in some cases, such as analysis of Ni-Cu mixtures and coatings. In this paper, a method for obtaining copper and nickel nanoparticles was investigated, and the XRF of powder compositions was considered in detail. The initial micro- and nanoparticles of copper and nickel were studied in detail using SEM, TEM, XRD, and EDX. Based on experimental data, calibration curves for copper-nickel powder compositions of various sizes were developed. According to the results, it was experimentally established that the calibration curves constructed for nanoscale and microscale powders differ significantly. The presented approach can be expanded for other metals and particle sizes.Common ex vivo methods for penetration investigations often fail to monitor transfollicular penetration appropriately. In the present investigation, the validity of dermal microdialysis on the ex vivo porcine ear skin to investigate penetration kinetics, including transfollicular penetration, was studied. In setup A, a caffeine nanocrystal formulation was compared to a non-particular caffeine gel formulation. In setup B, two caffeine nanocrystal formulations of different sizes (200 nm, 700 nm) were compared to each other. Microdialysis samples were collected for 46 h. After sampling, the skin layers were separated, homogenized, and caffeine was quantified in all samples. In setup A the area under the curve (AUC) after crystal gel formulation application was 12 times higher than after non-particular formulation application. Setup B showed an increased AUC of 42% in the microdialysis data when the 700 nm caffeine crystals were applied compared to the 200 nm crystals. The microdialysis data was supported by the separation, homogenization and extraction data. Microdialysis performed on ex vivo porcine ear skin is a novel experimental setup. It is of high interest for further investigations since it is able to also capture the impact of follicular and transfollicular penetration kinetics as no other ex vivo setup can.In this work, gold and bismuth bimetallic nanoparticles decorated L-cysteine functionalized graphene oxide nanocomposites (Au-BiNPs/SH-GO) were prepared and applied to selective detection of Fe(III) in lake and seawater samples by modifying onto glassy carbon electrodes. Bimetallic nanoparticles have various excellent properties and better catalytic properties because of the unique synergistic effect between metals. The modified electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Under optimized conditions, current peak intensity increased linearly with increasing Fe(III) concentration over the range of 0.2-50 μM and a detection limit of 0.07 μM (S/N = 3). The Au-BiNPs/SH-GO/GCE was used for the determination of Fe(III) in lake and seawater samples with recoveries ranged from 90 to 103%. Those satisfactory results revealed the potential application of the Au-BiNPs/SH-GO electrochemical sensor for heavy metals detection in environmental monitoring.Nanoparticles (NPs) in biomedical applications have benefits owing to their small size. However, their intricate and sensitive nature makes an evaluation of the adverse effects of NPs on health necessary and challenging. Since there are limitations to conventional toxicological methods and omics analyses provide a more comprehensive molecular profiling of multifactorial biological systems, omics approaches are necessary to evaluate nanotoxicity. Compared to a single omics layer, integrated omics across multiple omics layers provides more sensitive and comprehensive details on NP-induced toxicity based on network integration analysis. As multi-omics data are heterogeneous and massive, computational methods such as machine learning (ML) have been applied for investigating correlation among each omics. This integration of omics and ML approaches will be helpful for analyzing nanotoxicity. To that end, mechanobiology has been applied for evaluating the biophysical changes in NPs by measuring the traction force and rigidity sensing in NP-treated cells using a sub-elastomeric pillar. Therefore, integrated omics approaches are suitable for elucidating mechanobiological effects exerted by NPs. These technologies will be valuable for expanding the safety evaluations of NPs. Here, we review the integration of omics, ML, and mechanobiology for evaluating nanotoxicity.Because cystoscopy is expensive and invasive, a new method of detecting non-invasive muscular bladder cancer (NMIBC) is needed. This study aims to identify potential serum protein markers for NMIBC to improve diagnosis and to find treatment approaches that avoid disease progression to a life-threatening phenotype (muscle-invasive bladder cancer, MIBC). Here, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs, 9.73 ± 1.70 nm) as a scavenging device together with sequential window acquisition of all theoretical mass spectra (SWATH-MS) were used to quantitatively analyze the blood serum protein alterations in two NMIBC subtypes, T1 and Ta, and they were compared to normal samples (HC). NMIBC's analysis of serum samples identified three major groups of proteins, the relative content of which is different from the HC content proteins implicated in the complement and coagulation cascade pathways and apolipoproteins. In conclusion, many biomarker proteins were identified that merit further examination to validate their useful significance and utility within the clinical management of NMIBC patients. We report on the microwave shielding efficiency of non-structural composites, where inclusions of biochar-a cost effective and eco-friendly material-are dispersed in matrices of interest for building construction. We directly measured the complex permittivity of raw materials and composites, in the frequency range 100 MHz-8 GHz. A proper permittivity mixing formula allows obtaining other combinations, to enlarge the case studies. From complex permittivity, finally, we calculated the shielding efficiency, showing that tailoring the content of biochar allows obtaining a desired value of electromagnetic shielding, potentially useful for different applications. This approach represents a quick preliminary evaluation tool to design composites with desired shielding properties starting from physical parameters.Chalcogenide GeSbTe (GST) alloys are exploited as phase change materials in a variety of applications ranging from electronic non-volatile memories to neuromorphic and photonic devices. Selleckchem BTK inhibitor In most applications, the prototypical Ge2Sb2Te5 compound along the GeTe-Sb2Te3 pseudobinary line is used. Ge-rich GST alloys, off the pseudobinary tie-line with a crystallization temperature higher than that of Ge2Sb2Te5, are currently explored for embedded phase-change memories of interest for automotive applications. During crystallization, Ge-rich GST alloys undergo a phase separation into pure Ge and less Ge-rich alloys. The detailed mechanisms underlying this transformation are, however, largely unknown. In this work, we performed high-throughput calculations based on Density Functional Theory (DFT) to uncover the most favorable decomposition pathways of Ge-rich GST alloys. The knowledge of the DFT formation energy of all GST alloys in the central part of the Ge-Sb-Te ternary phase diagram allowed us to identify the cubic crystalline phases that are more likely to form during the crystallization of a generic GST alloy. This scheme is exemplified by drawing a decomposition map for alloys on the Ge-Ge1Sb2Te4 tie-line. A map of decomposition propensity is also constructed, which suggests a possible strategy to minimize phase separation by still keeping a high crystallization temperature. This article assembles a distributed feedback (DFB) cavity on the sidewalls of the optical fiber by using very simple fabrication techniques including two-beam interference lithography and dip-coating. The DFB laser structure comprises graduated gratings on the optical fiber sidewalls which are covered with a layer of colloidal quantum dots. Directional DFB lasing is observed from the fiber facet due to the coupling effect between the grating and the optical fiber. The directional lasing from the optical fiber facet exhibits a small solid divergence angle as compared to the conventional laser. It can be attributed to the two-dimensional light confinement in the fiber waveguide. An analytical approach based on the Bragg condition and the coupled-wave theory was developed to explain the characteristics of the laser device. The intensity of the output coupled laser is tuned by the coupling coefficient, which is determined by the angle between the grating vector and the fiber axis. These results afford opportunities to integrate different DFB lasers on the same optical fiber sidewall, achieving multi-wavelength self-aligned DFB lasers for a directional emission. The proposed technique may provide an alternative to integrating DFB lasers for applications in networking, optical sensing, and power delivery.
