New representatives of the A2M3(SO4)4 (A = Rb and Cs, M = Co, Ni) family were found, inspired by the discovery and characterization of itelmenite, a mineral of composition Na2CuMg2(SO4)4. Four new compounds were obtained by high-temperature solid-state reactions in air. All new compounds were structurally characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction. Rb2Ni3(SO4)4 and Rb2Co3(SO4)4 crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c, Cs2Ni3(SO4)4 in P21/n whereas Rb2Co3(SO4)4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121. In order to determine the temperature of crystallization of the new phases DTA and TG were performed for the mixtures of the precursors. Several synthesis strategies were tested and discussed. The investigation of the reactivity upon heating highlights the stability of the precursors before they collapse, explaining the difficulties to get pure powder samples.Insects are able to detect a plethora of olfactory cues using a divergent family of odorant receptors (ORs). Despite the divergent nature of this family, related species frequently express several evolutionarily conserved OR orthologues. In the largest order of insects, Coleoptera, it remains unknown whether OR orthologues have conserved or divergent functions in different species. Using HEK293 cells, we addressed this question through functional characterization of two groups of OR orthologues in three species of the Curculionidae (weevil) family, the conifer-feeding bark beetles Ips typographus L. ("Ityp") and Dendroctonus ponderosae Hopkins ("Dpon") (Scolytinae), and the pine weevil Hylobius abietis L. ("Habi"; Molytinae). The ORs of H. abietis were annotated from antennal transcriptomes. The results show highly conserved response specificities, with one group of orthologues (HabiOR3/DponOR8/ItypOR6) responding exclusively to 2-phenylethanol (2-PE), and the other group (HabiOR4/DponOR9/ItypOR5) responding to angiosperm green leaf volatiles (GLVs). Both groups of orthologues belong to the coleopteran OR subfamily 2B, and share a common ancestor with OR5 in the cerambycid Megacyllene caryae, also tuned to 2-PE, suggesting a shared evolutionary history of 2-PE receptors across two beetle superfamilies. The detected compounds are ecologically relevant for conifer-feeding curculionids, and are probably linked to fitness, with GLVs being used to avoid angiosperm nonhost plants, and 2-PE being important for intraspecific communication and/or playing a putative role in beetle-microbe symbioses. To our knowledge, this study is the first to reveal evolutionary conservation of OR functions across several beetle species and hence sheds new light on the functional evolution of insect ORs.This comparative effectiveness research study evaluates the association between toy type and parent language input during play with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and those with typical development.
Elective births at 39 weeks' gestation are increasing. While this option may improve maternal and perinatal outcomes compared with expectant management, longer-term childhood developmental outcomes are uncertain.
To investigate the association between elective birth at 39 weeks' gestation and the risk of childhood developmental vulnerability.
For this cohort study, 2 causal inference analyses were conducted using Australian statewide, population-based data. Perinatal data from births between January 1, 2005, and December 31, 2013, were linked to childhood developmental outcomes at age 4 to 6 years (assessed using multiple imputation via inverse probability-weighted regression adjustment). selleck Data analyses were conducted between September 7 and November 9, 2021.
Two exposure groups were considered (1) elective birth between 39 weeks and 0 days' and 39 weeks and 6 days' gestation vs expectant management and (2) birth via induction of labor vs planned cesarean delivery among those born electively at 39 weekwith planned cesarean delivery (n = 7999) was not associated with childhood developmental vulnerability (aRR, 0.96; 95% CI, 0.82-1.12) or with vulnerability in any individual domains.
In this cohort study, elective birth at 39 weeks' gestation was not associated with childhood developmental vulnerability. For those born electively at 39 weeks' gestation, birth after induction of labor or by elective cesarean delivery had similar developmental outcomes.

However, there is no database-level control for false discovery of sites, likely leading to the overestimation of true phosphosites. By profiling the human phosphoproteome, we estimate the false discovery rate (FDR) of phosphosites and predict a more realistic count of true identifications. We rank sites into phosphorylation likelihood sets and analyze them in terms of conservation across 100 species, sequence properties, and functional annotations. We demonstrate significant differences between the sets and develop a method for independent phosphosite FDR estimation. Remarkably, we report estimated FDRs of 84, 98, and 82% within sets of phosphoserine (pSer), phosphothreonine (pThr), and phosphotyrosine (pTyr) sites, respectively, that are supported by only a single piece of identification evidence─the majority of sites in PSP. We estimate that around 62 000 Ser, 8000 Thr, and 12 000 Tyr phosphosites in the human proteome are likely to be true, which is lower than most published estimates. Furthermore, our analysis estimates that 86 000 Ser, 50 000 Thr, and 26 000 Tyr phosphosites are likely false-positive identifications, highlighting the significant potential of false-positive data to be present in phosphorylation databases.Binary complexes between the chiral monoterpenoids camphor and α-fenchol were explored with vibrational and rotational jet spectroscopy as well as density functional theory in order to explore how chirality can influence the binding preferences in gas-phase complexes. The global minimum structures of the two diastereomers were assigned. It is found that chirality recognition leads to different compromises in the fine balance between intermolecular interactions. While one isomer features a stronger hydrogen bond, the other one is more tightly arranged and stabilized by larger London dispersion interactions. These new spectroscopic results help understand the influence of chirality in molecular aggregation and unveil the kind of interactions involved between a chiral alcohol and a chiral ketone with large dispersion contributions.
Acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPDs) have a negative impact on health status and disease progression, but their clinical presentation is heterogenous. A comprehensive understanding of individuals' experiences during an AECOPD is needed to develop person-centered interventions, such as pulmonary rehabilitation (PR). This study aimed to explore people's experiences during mild to moderate AECOPDs, and their thoughts on PR during this period.
Short, semi-structured interviews were conducted with people with mild to moderate AECOPDs treated on an outpatient basis within 48 hours of the diagnosis. Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed, and analyzed by deductive thematic analysis using the Web Qualitative Data Analysis software.
Eleven people with AECOPDs (9 male, 67±10 years, forced expiratory volume in 1 second 41±16%predicted) participated. Four themes and 17 subthemes were identified impact of an AECOPD (symptoms, physiological changes, limitations in activities of ventions during AECOPDs.
The establishment and renovation of supermarkets may promote healthy diet practices among youth by increasing retail infrastructure for fresh foods.
To estimate the association between the Food Retail Expansion to Support Health (FRESH) program and the weight status of children and adolescents.
Using a difference-in-differences (DiD) design and including 12 months before and after a FRESH supermarket opened, data were analyzed for residentially stable public school students in kindergarten through 12th grade with objectively measured height and weight data from the academic years 2009 through 2016. Of the 8 FRESH-subsidized supermarkets in residential neighborhoods in New York City, New York, 5 were new and 3 were renovation projects between December 2011 and June 2014. Data were analyzed from June 2021 to January 2022.
The treatment group included students who resided within 0.50 miles of a FRESH-subsidized supermarket and had at least 1 body mass index (BMI) measurement within 12 months before and 3ded within 0.50 miles of a FRESH supermarket (vs control group students) in the 3- to 12-month follow-up period (DiD, -0.04; 95% CI, -0.06 to -0.02). This was true for those exposed to supermarkets that were either new (DiD, -0.07; 95% CI, -0.11 to -0.03) or renovated (DiD, -0.03; 95% CI, -0.06 to -0.01). A statistically significant decrease was also observed in the likelihood of obesity (DiD, -0.01; 95% CI, -0.02 to -0.002).
Government-subsidized supermarkets may contribute to a small decrease in obesity risk among children residing near those supermarkets, if part of a comprehensive policy approach.

Recent guidelines recommend a systolic blood pressure (BP) goal of less than 150 mm Hg or even 130 mm Hg for adults aged 60 years or older. However, harms from intensive BP treatments occur immediately (eg, syncope, fall), and benefits for cardiovascular event reduction emerge over time. Therefore, harms with low chance of benefit need to be clearer, particularly for those with limited life expectancy.
To estimate the time needed to potentially derive clinical benefit from intensive BP treatment in patients 60 years and older.
This secondary analysis included individual patient data from published randomized clinical trials with 27 414 patients 60 years or older with hypertension. Patient-level survival data were reconstructed when the original data were not available. Published trials were identified by searching PubMed until October 15, 2021.
Intensive BP lowering vs standard BP lowering with the treat-to-target design.
Major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) defined by each trial, which was broan 1 year.
In this analysis, findings suggest that for patients 60 years and older with hypertension, intensive BP treatment may be appropriate for some adults with a life expectancy of greater than 3 years but may not be suitable for those with less than 1 year.
