Kyphoplasty (KP) is an effective method for treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). Although the bipedicular approach is considered the main treatment approach, the unipedicular approach has also been shown to be effective. This study aimed to retrospectively compare the radiological and clinical outcomes of unipedicular and bipedicular KP in the treatment of single-level OVCFs.In total, 96 patients with single-level OVCF who received KP were divided into 2 groups the unipedicular group, in which 28 patients underwent KP via the unipedicular approach, and the bipedicular group, in which 68 patients underwent KP via the bipedicular approach. Clinical results, radiological findings, and complications were compared between the groups. The clinical results were evaluated for up to 1 year after surgery using a numerical rating scale score. The radiological findings were compared in terms of recovery of the lowest vertebral body height at the same location on radiographs taken both 1 day and cement than bipedicular KP and was as effective as bipedicular KP in terms of radiological and clinical outcomes. The results of this study have level three evidence and grade B recommendation.
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common eczematous skin disorder that profoundly reduces the quality of life due to intractable pruritus. Excellent therapeutic success of the anti-interleukin 4 receptor-α antibody dupilumab in clinical trials and a real-world clinical context indicates the crucial roles of interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13 in the pathogenesis of AD. Along with the clinical improvement in skin scores and pruritus, dupilumab significantly and progressively reduces and normalizes the upregulated expression of T helper type 2 signatures such as Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand (CCL)17, CCL18, CCL22, and CCL26 in the lesional skin of AD. However, no blood/serum biomarkers are known to predict good or poor outcome in patients with AD treated with dupilumab.

Patients are at least 18 years of age and have moderate-to-severe AD with Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) ≥16, Investigator's Global Assessment ≥3, and body surface area ≥10%. We are going to enroll more than 130 subjects from 18 medical facilities.proteomic markers, most strongly associated with improvement in EASI in patients with moderate-to-severe AD treated with dupilumab for 16 weeks (B-PAD study). A limitation is that we will only enroll Japanese patients.
This is the first clinical trial to explore the biomarkers, including potential proteomic markers, most strongly associated with improvement in EASI in patients with moderate-to-severe AD treated with dupilumab for 16 weeks (B-PAD study). A limitation is that we will only enroll Japanese patients.
Qigong is a traditional Chinese exercise method for health care, keeping fit and getting rid of diseases. It has the advantages of simple operation and few side effects. Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-COV-2). Its clinical manifestations mainly include fever, fatigue, and dry cough. Clinical practice showed that Qigong had some therapeutic effects on pulmonary dysfunction caused by novel Coronavirus, but there was lacking in evidence of evidence-based medicine. The purpose of this protocol is to systematically evaluate the effects of Qigong on lung function and quality of life in COVID-19 patients, and to add evidence to evidence-based medicine for the clinical application of Qigong therapy.

CRD42020191877.To investigate the relationship between serum lipoprotein (a) (LP(a)) levels and breast cancer as well as the clinicopathologic characteristics of breast cancer in a Han Chinese population. This study included 314 breast cancer patients, 51 patients with benign breast tumors, and 185 healthy control subjects. All study subjects were Han Chinese with similar socio-economic backgrounds, who were local residents of Zhoushan, Zhejiang, China or who had lived in Zhoushan for a long period of time. Serum concentrations of LP(a) were determined using a latex-enhanced immunoturbidimetric assay. Clinicopathological characteristics of patients were retrieved from medical records, which included the histopathological type, grade, stage, and molecular subtype of the disease, the expression of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), HER2, and Ki67, and the level of reproductive hormones. Correlations between 2 groups were evaluated using the Spearman correlation analysis. Associations among ≥3 groups were interpreted using the Kruskal-Wallis H test or the logistic regression test.Elevated serum LP(a) levels were detected in breast cancer patients compared with healthy control subjects, but no significant differences in LP(a) were detected between breast cancer and benign tumor or between benign tumor and healthy control. In breast cancer patients, serum LP(a) levels were inversely associated with HER2 expression, but they were not significantly correlated with any other clinicopathologic characteristics of breast cancer evaluated in this study.Elevated serum LP(a) levels were associated with breast cancer in a Han Chinese population.Studies about the effects of metabolically healthy obesity on cardiovascular disease (CVD) have yielded conflicting results. These heterogeneous results could be due to the limited usefulness of BMI in measuring general adiposity, as body mass index (BMI) does not accurately reflect body composition. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of body shape on CVD outcomes across different obesity phenotypes, and to provide an explanation for the heterogeneous effects of metabolically healthy obese (MHO) phenotype on CVD.We analyzed data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study, a population-based cohort study conducted between 2001 and 2012. We divided the participants into 4 groups metabolically healthy non-obese (MHNO), MHO, metabolically unhealthy non-obese (MUNO), and metabolically unhealthy obese (MUO). To assess body shape, we calculated the z-score of the log-transformed a body shape index (LBSIZ). We computed Pearson correlation coefficients to examine the association of LBSIZ with muscle mass indexeases with LBSIZ among the MHO individuals. LBSIZ appears to be a useful measure for CVD risk assessment in clinical practice and epidemiologic studies, especially for MHO patients.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disease with widespread concern in the world. It has the characteristics of high incidence rate and high disability rate, which seriously affects economic and social development. large dose herb Rhizoma Coptidis (Huanglian) and Scutellaria (Huangqin) or compound prescription contain large dose Huanglian and Huanglian for treatment of T2DM has already been confirmed. However, due to the lack of evidence, there is no specific method or suggestion, so it is necessary to carry out systematic evaluation on Coptidis and Scutellaria and provide effective evidence for further research.

(https//osf.io/b6r3z).To understand the self-rated depression scores of military recruits and to analyze the relationship between depression, the family environment, and coping styles.Multistage stratified cluster random sampling was used to study participants who, in September 2014, had enrolled as military personnel in the Xinjiang military. The participants were requested to complete the Chinese versions of the Self-rated Depression Scale (SDS), the Family Environment Scale (FES-CV), and the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ). Between-groups comparisons were performed using a t test and Mann-Whitney U test. Correlations were determined utilizing Spearman rank correlation coefficient, and the influencing factors of the SDS scores were analyzed using logistic regression. The average score of the SDS among the 323 participants was 42.53 ± 8.51. Specifically, the score of the "high school and below" group was higher than that of the "college and above" group [i.e., (43.98 ± 8.30)] vs [(40.43.98 ± 8.30) vs (37.94 ± 5.50), Pd in the final regression equation (P  less then  .001) with odds radio (95% confidence interval) of 0.512 (0.319-0.824).A correlation was found between depression among military personnel and their family environment, and entertainment may be a potential protective factor against depression.
Mannitol and hypertonic saline (HTS) are effective in reducing intracranial pressure (ICP) after severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, their efficacy on the ICP has not been evaluated rigorously.

To evaluate the efficacy of repeated bolus dosing of HTS and mannitol in similar osmotic burdens to treat intracranial hypertension (ICH) in patients with severe TBI.

The authors used an alternating treatment protocol to evaluate the efficacy of HTS with that of mannitol given for ICH episodes in patients treated for severe TBI at their hospital during 2017 to 2019. Doses of similar osmotic burdens (20% mannitol, 2 ml/kg, or 10% HTS, 0.63 ml/kg, administered as a bolus via a central venous catheter, infused over 15 minutes) were given alternately to the individual patient with severe TBI during ICH episodes. The choice of osmotic agents for the treatment of the initial ICH episode was determined on a randomized basis; osmotic agents were alternated for every subsequent ICH episode in each individual pate proportion of efficacious boluses was higher for HTS than for mannitol (P = .016), as was the increase in serum sodium (P = .038). The serum osmolality increased immediately after osmotherapy with a significant difference (P = .017). No cases of CPM were detected.

Repeat bolus dosing of 10% HTS and 20% mannitol appears to be significantly and similarly effective for treating ICH in patients with severe TBI. The proportion of efficacious doses of HTS on ICP reduction may be higher than mannitol.
