A manuscript Seed-Assisted Course for Fabricating Blood potassium Titanoniobate Photocatalytic Nanomaterials.
RESULTS The serum NLR was higher in the patient group than in the control group (p=0.033). The patients with disease recurrence had higher body mass index and MMP-9 levels, but the results were not statistically significant. Moreover, the patients with a high NLR had a high risk of disease progression (odds ratio [OR]=13.046, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.057-161.18, p=0.045), whereas the patients with a high serum TGF-β1 level (OR=0.972, 95% CI=0.945-0.999, p=0.047) had a low risk of disease progression. CONCLUSION High NLR and low TGF-β1 values were associated with an increased risk of disease progression in patients with NMIBC. However, no relationships were found between TGF-β1, MMP-9, TIMP-2, and NGF-β values and the recurrence of NMIBC.OBJECTIVE Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) is an endourologic minimal invasive intervention of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). The interest on HoLEP is increasing in the literature. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the learning curve and our preliminary results. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective analysis on 600 patients with BPH who underwent HoLEP between July 2015 and April 2019 was performed. Perioperative measures including enucleation efficiency (EE), morcellation efficiency (ME), and percentage of resected tissue weight (PRW) were recorded. Hospitalization time (HT) and catheterization time (CT) were measured. Functional outcomes, Clavien-Dindo classification complications, and continence status were assessed at 1-, 3-, and 6-month follow-up. RESULTS The mean age, prostate size, and prostate-specific antigen levels of the patients were 64.54 years, 91 g, and 4.54 ng/mL, respectively. There were 38.3% of patients with ≥100 g prostate size. The measured EE, ME, and PRW were 1.12 g/min, 4 g/min, and 72%, respectively. The mean HT and CT were 24.53 h and 21.50 h, respectively. Functional outcomes showed significant improvement at 1-, 3-, and 6-month follow-up. Intraoperative and postoperative complications were comparable with the literature. The most common perioperative complication was superficial bladder mucosal injury (n=8, 1.33%). Only one patient had persistent stress urinary incontinence at 6-month follow-up. CONCLUSION As mentioned in the literature, HoLEP indications are independent from prostate size. Selleck Epigenetic inhibitor Our results showed similarity with the literature on functional outcomes, complication rates, and continence status. With its superior results, our HoLEP series from Turkey supports that HoLEP will replace transurethral resection of the prostate as the known current gold standard.OBJECTIVE In this study, we aim to compare the perioperative and midterm oncological outcomes in patients with advanced bladder cancer and those who had laparoscopic radical cystectomy (LRC) and open radical cystectomy (ORC). MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed medical records of patients who underwent LRC or ORC in a single center between 2008 and 2014 with a pathological diagnosis of pT3 and pT4 bladder cancer. Thirty-five and 39 patients were included in the study as part of the LRC and ORC groups, respectively. RESULTS There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of disease-free survival (LRC, 39.8±4.86 months; ORC, 45.47±8.92 months, P=0.896). Average estimated blood loss and length of hospitalization were significantly less in the LRC group. The overall survival rates of patients at 1, 2, and 3 years were 73%, 46%, and 46% in the ORC group and 78%, 65%, and 40% in the LRC group, respectively, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. One patient in the ORC group experienced rectal injury in the form of a serosal tear, which was repaired primarily without any postoperative sequelae. There were no conversions in the laparoscopic group. Similarly, in 1 patient, rectal serosal tear was repaired preoperatively. CONCLUSION Our study showed that LRC provides midterm oncological outcomes similar to ORC in the treatment of locally advanced T3 and T4 bladder cancer. However, long-term oncological and functional outcomes are required.Oncolytic virotherapy is an emerging treatment option for numerous cancers, with several virus families currently being evaluated in clinical trials. More specifically, vaccine-strain measles virus has arisen as a promising candidate for the treatment of different tumour types in several early clinical trials. Replicating viruses, and especially RNA viruses without proofreading polymerases, can rapidly adapt to varying environments by selecting quasispecies with advantageous genetic mutations. Subsequently, these genetic alterations could potentially weaken the safety profile of virotherapy. In this study, we demonstrate that, following an extended period of virus replication in producer or cancer cell lines, the quasispecies consensus sequence of vaccine strain-derived measles virus accrues a remarkably small number of mutations throughout the nonsegmented negative-stranded RNA genome. Interestingly, we detected a nonrandom distribution of genetic alterations within the genome, with an overall decreasing frequency of mutations from the 3' genome start to its 5' end. Comparing the serially passaged viruses to the parental virus on producer cells, we found that the acquired consensus mutations did not drastically change viral replication kinetics or cytolytic potency. Collectively, our data corroborate the genomic stability and excellent safety profile of oncolytic measles virus, thus supporting its continued development and clinical translation as a promising viro-immunotherapeutic.A Gram-stain-positive, strictly aerobic, polar flagellated, short rod-shaped bacterium, designated DFW100M-13T, was isolated from gut of the larva of Protaetia brevitarsis seulensis collected from Wanju-gun, South Korea. The growth range of NaCl concentration was 0-3 % (w/v) (optimally 0 % (w/v)), the temperature range for growth was 10-40 °C (optimally 28-30 °C), and the pH range for growth was pH 6.0-9.0 (optimally pH 7.0-8.0). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain DFW100M-13T had a high sequence similarity to members of the genus Microbacterium, having the highest similarity with Microbacterium luticocti DSM 19459T (97.7 %), Microbacterium rhizosphaerae CHO1T (97.1 %), and Microbacterium immunditiarum SK 18T (97.0 %), and formed a distinct lineage with Microbacterium luticocti DSM 19459T within the genus Microbacterium. A phylogenetic tree based on house-keeping genes also showed the result similar to the 16S rRNA gene-based tree. The main respiratory quinone (>10 %) was MK-11, MK-12 and MK-10, and the predominant cellular fatty acids (>10 %) were iso-C16  0, anteiso-C17  0 and anteiso-C15  0.
