Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is a member of the family of portulacaceae and is a very good source of alpha-linoleic acid. Alpha-linoleic is an omega-3 fatty acid which plays an important role in human growth, development and in preventing diseases. Characterization of the physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity of oil from seeds, leaves and stems of purslane, and appraisal of its viability is the main purpose of this study. In this work, physicochemical properties of oil from seed, leaf and stem of purslane were characterized and the highest oil content was observed in seed (11.25 %) using solvent extraction method. The highest specific gravity was recorded for seed oil (1.10 w/w) followed by leaf oil (0.73 w/w) with non-significant difference. Moreover, oil extracted from purslane stem was found to be the least in oil content (2 %) and specific gravity (0.14 w/w); but the highest in acid value (13.32 w/v) and percentage free fatty acid. The peroxide value was found to be the highest for seed oil and the least for stem with significant difference. The highest ascorbic acid content was recorded for purslane seed oil (41.67 %) followed by leaf oil (32.29 %). Likewise, the highest 1, 1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazine activity was obtained for leaf oil (12.55 %) followed by seed oil (2.05 %). The plot for PC2 vs PC1 showed the oil content, specific gravity, peroxide value, ascorbic acid and 1, 1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazine having close PC1 and PC2 scores with vector angle less then 90 0 showing correlated effects. Characterizing physical and chemical properties and antioxidant activity of oil from seeds, leaves and stems of purslane is crucial in providing necessary information for the utilization of the oil content.Accurate morphological description of species has essential implications in field identification and cladistics. Pangolins (Mammalia Pholidota) are considered the world's most trafficked mammals. The Indian pangolin has a wide geographical distribution in the Indian subcontinent. However, morphoanatomical variations of M. crassicaudata across its range are poorly understood. The published morphoanatomical descriptions have disparities, partly due to the lack of standard protocols and procedures in morphometric data collection and reporting, thus making comparisons among different records less meaningful. This Method Article presents protocols and procedures to follow in morphometric data collection and reporting for M. Crassicaudata. Morphometric parameters can be measured and reported under three age classes; juvenile, sub-adult, and adult, as well as the sex to describe the species' sexual dimorphism. The proposed protocol includes 13 morphometric measurements of a pangolin body. Procedures to count and report the number of body scales with special reference to the body region of a pangolin and scale morph-type are described. selleck chemicals Morphometry of the claws of forelimbs is described using the Curvature Linear Index [1].Sono-photoacoustic (SPA) activation lowers the threshold of phase-change contrast agents by timing a laser shot to coincide with the arrival of an acoustic wave at a region of interest. The combination of photothermal heating from optical absorption and negative pressure from the acoustic wave greatly reduces the droplet's combined vaporization threshold compared to using laser energy or acoustic energy alone. In previous studies, SPA imaging used a broadly illuminated optical pulse combined with plane wave acoustic pulses transmitted from a linear ultrasound array. Acoustic plane waves cover a wide lateral field of view, enabling direct visualization of the contrast agent distribution. In contrast, we demonstrate here that localized SPA activation is possible using electronically steered/focused ultrasound pulses. The focused SPA activation region is defined axially by the number of cycles in the acoustic pulse and laterally by the acoustic beam width. By reducing the spot size and enabling rapid electronic steering, complex activation patterns are possible, which may be particularly useful in therapeutic applications.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been widely used in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Tongue features should be referred for diagnosis and treatment of diseases in TCM. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the tongue features of the patients suffered from COVID-19.
COVID-19 Symptom Database (established by Evidence-based Medicine Center of Tianjin University of TCM) was searched for eligible tongue pictures. The tongue pictures were assessed by TCM experts to extract the data of tongue color, coating color, tongue body shape and coating proper feature. The relationship between tongue features and patient's condition was analyzed.
Patients diagnosed as mild and moderate COVID-19 commonly had light red tongue and white coating. Severe patients had purple tongue and yellow coating. The proportion of critical patients with tender tongue increased to 75%. Greasy coating was a significant characteristic of patients with COVID-19. The proportions of greasy coating were 53.33%, 73.30%, 83.67 and 87.5% in disease category of mild, moderate, severe and critical. In addition, the thick coating proportion increased from mild (24.89%) to critical (50.00%).
Tongue features have certain relationship with the category of COVID-19. Tongue features can serve as potential indicators for the evaluation of patient's condition and prognosis. Further studies are needed to enhance the quantification of tongue features and develop standards.

The biopsychological, pathological and physical characteristics of Yin-Yang (Eum-Yang in Korean) have been suggested using Sasang Personality Questionnaire (SPQ), however, the revision of SPQ is required for escalating its clinical use and multidimensional study on Yin-Yang.
274 university students were recruited to complete the SPQ, candidate items of revised SPQ (rSPQ) along with the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI). After selecting rSPQ items using Item Analysis and Explorative Factor Analysis, its psychometric property was examined using Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Pearson's correlation and
-test. The biopsychological features of Yin and Yang personality groups based on rSPQ total score were illustrated with the TCI using ANOVA and Profile Analysis.
The behavior, cognition and emotion subscales of 15-item rSPQ had robust psychometric construct and showed distinctive psychological characteristics of Yin-Yang. link2 The rSPQ-total score was correlated positively with SPQ-total (r = 0.644, p < 0.01) and TCI Novelty-Seeking (r = 0.398, p < 0.01), and negatively with TCI Harm-Avoidance (r = -0.364, p < 0.01). And, the Yin personality group (34.45 ± 10.36 and 46.82 ± 12.27) has significantly different scores in Novelty-Seeking and Harm-Avoidance compared to Yang personality group (43.2 ± 9.1 and 36.53 ± 10.78). Yin and Yang personality groups showed distinctive TCI subscale profiles as shown in previous studies.
The current study showed the organized subscale structure and clinical validity of rSPQ for Yin-Yang personality, and it would provide foundation for East-West cross-cultural psychology and integrative medicine.

A dramatic increase in aging populations and low birth rates rapidly drive aging societies and increase aging-associated neurodegenerative diseases. However, functional food or medicinal formulations to prevent geriatric brain disorders are not readily available.
is a candidate, since ginseng has long-been consumed as a rejuvenating agent. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms and the components of ginseng that are responsible for brain rejuvenation and human longevity are unknown. Accumulating evidence shows that gintonin is a candidate for the anti-aging ingredient of ginseng, especially in brain senescence.
Gintonin, a glycolipoprotein complex, contains three lipid-derived G protein-coupled receptor ligands lysophosphatidic acids (LPAs), lysophosphatidylinositols (LPIs), and linoleic acid (LA). link3 LPA, LPI, and LA act on six LPA receptor subtypes, GPR55, and GPR40, respectively. These G protein-coupled receptors are distributed within the nervous and non-nervous systems of the human body.
Gintonin-enriched fraction (GEF) exhibits anti-brain senescence and effects against disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Huntington's disease (HD), and Parkinson's disease (PD). Oral administration of gintonin in animal models of d-galactose-induced brain aging, AD, HD, and PD restored cognitive and motor functions. The underlying molecular mechanisms of gintonin-mediated anti-brain aging and anti-neurodegenerative diseases include neurogenesis, autophagy stimulation, anti-apoptosis, anti-oxidative stress, and anti-inflammatory activities. This review describes the characteristics of gintonin and GEF, and how gintonin exerts its effects on brain aging and brain associated-neurodegenerative diseases.
Finally, we describe how GEF can be applied to improve the quality of life of senior citizens in aging societies.

In this case study we report a 28-year-old man who presented to the Emergency Department with epistaxis, petechial rash, and fever. Laboratory tests revealed the presence of high white blood cell count with 60% blasts and evidence of coagulopathy. The diagnosis was confirmed later as APL. Because of the delayed transfer to the reference center and unavailability of ATRA initial treatment, the patient received isotretinoin, a related compound. The treatment was successfully implemented in the initial management of acute pro-myelocytic leukemia as patient condition improved. isotretinoin could be used as an alternative therapy for ATRA whenever the latter is not available. further research is needed to establish the appropriate doses and to assess the potential risk of differentiation syndromes. We report a case with extramedullary tumors affecting the supraclavicular region that presented as a relapse of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with FLT3-ITD mutation after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Treatment with gilteritinib resulted in remarkable response with disappearance of both the medullary and extramedullary tumors. Subsequently, a 2nd allo-HSCT was performed in an attempt to cure his AML and complete molecular response has been sustained with gilteritinib resumption without worsening GVHD. Targeted therapy with gilteritinib for medullary and extramedullary relapse of FLT3-ITD AML could be effective and suitable as a bridging therapy for allo-HSCT.
