This result indicates that qE rise is not accompanied by a structural disassembly of the PSII supercomplexes.Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with a low cure rate. Periplaneta americana is a traditional American Cockroach and reportedly has potential therapeutic roles for UC treatment; however, its mechanisms remain unclear. To address this, we investigated the therapeutic effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of Ento-A, a Periplaneta americana extract, in a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced chronic and recurrent UC mouse model. Ento-A treatment decreased pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion, disease activity index (DAI), colon mucosa damage index (CMDI), histopathological scores (HS), and increased colon length. Additionally, Ento-A effectively increased interleukin-4 (IL-4), and forkhead transcription factor protein 3 (Foxp3) expression levels, while it abated interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and IL-17 levels in spleen lymphocytes. Conversely, in mesenteric lymph nodes, IL-4 and Foxp3 expression were decreased, while IFN-γ and IL-17 expression was increased. Furthermore, Ento-A blocked p-PI3K, p-AKT,*and p-NF-κB activation. In conclusion, Ento-A improved UC symptoms and exerted therapeutic effects by regulating immune responses and inhibiting PI3K/AKT/NF-κB signaling.Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) are endogenous molecules that exerts effective antinociceptive and resolutive actions. However, because of their rapid metabolism by the soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH), EETs are unable to remain bioavailable. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate whether local sEH inhibition could prevent inflammatory hyperalgesia in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) of rats. For that, rats were pre-treated with an intra-TMJ injection of TPPU, followed by the noxious stimulus (1.5% of formalin intra-articular) to evaluate nociceptive behavior. Histological analysis was conducted to explore the inflammatory exudate and mast cell degranulation. Periarticular tissue over the TMJ was used to measure inflammatory lipids and cytokines/chemokine by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). We demonstrated that peripheral pretreatment with TPPU prevents formalin-induced inflammatory hyperalgesia in the TMJ, and this effect is strictly local. Moreover, TPPU mitigates the leukocyte exudate in the TMJ, as well as inflammatory lipids mediators. Mast cell number and degranulation were abrogated by TPPU, and the inflammatory cytokine levels were decreased by TPPU. On the other hand, TPPU up-regulated the release of interleukin 10 (IL-10), an anti-inflammatory cytokine. We provide evidence that locally sEH by intra-TMJ injection of TPPU produces an antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effect on rats' TMJ.A novel fabrication of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanochains, surface functionalized with glutathione (GSH), has been attempted through a basic wet reduction method, coalesced with oxidative etching for the removal of crystal violet (CV) and phenol red (PR) from an aqueous solution. The structural and functional characterizations of GSH@Fe3O4 MNPs were performed using SEM-EDX, DLS, XRD, and FTIR. The nanochain-structured adsorbent was found to have an average size of 24 ± 1.29 nm and a zeta potential value of - 6.44 mV. The batch experiments showed that GSH@Fe3O4 MNPs have a brilliant removal efficiency of 97% and 79% for CV and PR dyes, respectively, within a period of 60 min. The influence of different operational parameters like adsorbent dosage, pH, temperature, reaction time, and initial dye concentration on the removal behaviour of the adsorbent was studied in detail. The adsorbate-adsorbent reaction was tested over isotherm models, and the reaction fitted well for Langmuir isotherm with an excellent qmax value of 1619.5 mg/g and 1316.16 mg/g for CV and PR dye, respectively. The experimental results were also validated using different reaction kinetics, and it was found that the pseudo-first-order model fits well for PR dye adsorption (R2 = 0.91), while adsorption of CV dye was in best agreement with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R2 = 0.98). Thermodynamic studies revealed that the adsorption reaction was spontaneous and endothermic in nature. Furthermore, GSH@Fe3O4 MNPs can be reused effectively up to 5 cycles of dye removal. Major mechanisms involved in the adsorption reaction were expected to be electrostatic attraction, hydrogen bonding, and π-interactions. The efficiency of GSH@Fe3O4 MNPs in real water samples suggested that it has a high potential for dye removal from complex aqueous systems and could be used as an effective alternative for remediation of dyes contaminated water. With the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization in China, the ecological environment has been damaged, especially the air quality, which has negatively impacted the productivity and lives of residents. China has taken various measures to improve air quality, and industrial upgrading is one of these measures. This article uses urban and provincial data from 2015 to 2018 and a multilevel growth model to study how industrial upgrading can improve air quality. The following conclusions are drawn through empirical analysis. If industrial upgrading is not considered, with time, air quality will gradually deteriorate. However, once the country adopts strategic measures for industrial upgrading, the combined effect of industrial upgrading and time will improve air quality. Industrial upgrading and industrial restructuring jointly reduce air pollution and have a significant impact on the improvement of air quality. Company goals for economic profit and survival will eventually lead to overall industrial upgrades that have little effect on air improvement. According to the empirical results, this paper puts forward some suggestions to improve the air quality. This review aims to understand the impacts of plasticizers on the thyroid system of animals and humans. The thyroid gland is one of the earliest endocrine glands that appear during embryogenesis. The thyroid gland synthesizes thyroid hormones (TH), triiodothyronine (T3), and thyroxine (T4) that are important in the regulation of body homeostasis. TH plays critical roles in regulating different physiological functions, including metabolism, cell growth, circadian rhythm, and nervous system development. Alteration in thyroid function can lead to different medical problems. Selleck Rolipram In recent years, thyroid-related medical problems have increased and this could be due to rising environmental pollutants. Plasticizers are one such group of a pollutant that impacts thyroid function. Plasticizers are man-made chemicals used in a wide range of products, such as children's toys, food packaging items, building materials, medical devices, cosmetics, and ink. The increased use of plasticizers has resulted in their detection in the environment, animals, and humans. Studies indicated that plasticizers could alter thyroid function in both animals and humans at different levels. Several studies demonstrated a positive and/or negative correlation between plasticizers and serum T4 and T3 levels. Plasticizers could also change the expression of various TH-related genes and proteins, including thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), and transporters. Histological analyses demonstrated thyroid follicular cell hypertrophy and hyperplasia in response to several plasticizers. In conclusion, plasticizers could disrupt TH homeostasis and the mechanisms of toxicity could be diverse.Addressing the challenges posed by pollutants is necessary to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 13, which involves climate change mitigation and enhancement of environmental quality. The convergence analysis of a pollutant provides information that can be useful to how to handle that pollutant across countries or regions, and previous studies mainly focused on carbon emission. However, the second most significant greenhouse gas, methane emission, was mostly ignored. The primary objective of this research is to investigate whether stochastic convergence of methane emissions is valid in 37 OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries using a dataset of more than two centuries. The results obtained by using a set of traditional unit root tests and a newly proposed wavelet unit root test with a Fourier function provide overwhelming evidence for these countries' divergence of methane emissions. The policy implications resulting from the empirical findings for environmental management are discussed in the relevant sections of the paper. The presence of heavy metal and organic pollutants in wastewater effluents, flue gases, and even solid wastes from petrochemical industries renders improper discharges liable to posing threats to the ecological environment and human health. It is beneficial for pollution control to find out the regional distribution of contaminated sites. This study explored the relationship between the petrochemical contaminated areas and natural, socio-economic, and traffic factors. Ten indicators were selected as input variables, and the MaxEnt model was conducted to identify the potentially contaminated areas. Moreover, among these 10 variables, the factors that have the great impact on the results were determined according to the contribution of variables. The results showed that the MaxEnt model performed well with AUC of 0.981 ± 0.004, and 90% of the measured contaminated sites was located in areas with medium and high probability of contamination in the prediction results. The map of potentially contaminated areas indicated that the areas with high probability of contamination were distributed in Yangtze River Delta, Beijing, Tianjin, southern Guangdong, Fujian coastal areas, central Hubei and northeast Hunan, central Sichuan, and southwest Chongqing. The responses of variables presented that high probability of petrochemical contamination tended to appear in cities with developed economy, dense population, and convenient transportation. This study presents a novel way to identify the potentially contaminated areas for petrochemical sites and provides a theoretical basis to formulate future management strategies.Computable general equilibrium models (CGE) are used to estimate the ex-ante quantitative impact of a change in economic policy. There is a bulk of research in the field of sustainable development applying it for testing implementation of carbon taxation, analyzing reductions of greenhouse gas (GHG), or addressing agricultural issues to work the land efficiently. The main objective of this review is to provide an exhaustive analysis of the literature about these models and their evolution over the last 50 years. The search was conducted in the main academic databases (Scopus and Web of Science), where 1353 articles were found from 1966 to 2019 related to the topic. The results of the descriptives, relational, and content analyses carried out show the current state of the-art, trends, subfields of research, and future gaps to fulfill. This article contributes to the literature that uses CGE models providing an overview of its different applications in the field of sustainability. It gives useful insights to academics who want to further research the field.
