Age-related decline in cortical inhibitory tone strengthens engine storage.
This study has significant implications for waterborne virus removal and development of novel disinfection technologies. How to efficiently treat radioactive uranium-containing nuclear wastewater is one of the significant challenges to ensure the safety of nuclear technology and to avoid environmental pollution. Tosedostat Here we firstly prepare the metal-free 2D/2D C3N5/GO nanosheets, and customize a type-II heterojunction based on the band bending theory to achieve enhanced uranium extraction capacity via synergistic adsorption photoreduction engineering. The structure of C3N5 is explained by electron energy loss spectroscopy and synchrotron-based near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure. And C3N5 with larger π-conjugated structure expands the light response range to 747 nm, which is about 1.67 times that of C3N4. Further, we also use density functional theory to prove the existence of alternating energy levels so that photogenerated electrons could be continuously injected into the surface of GO to ensure the effective separation of electron-hole pairs and increase the material activity. The results show that the removal ratio of uranium by 2D/2D C3N5/GO heterojunction is achieved as high as 96.1% even at a low uranium concentration of 10 ppm, and reached 93.4% after exposure to gamma-ray. This work will lay a foundation for customizing the energy band structure of nonmetal-based 2D/2D nanohybrids and enriching uranium-containing wastewater through adsorption photoreduction engineering in the future.Understanding the complex relationship between active small molecules is of great significance in various physiological processes. Herein, we present the design and synthesis of a sequential responsive Lysosome-Naphthalene imide-Azido (lyso-NP-N3) reporter for probing the H2S and HOBr within organelle (lysosome) in living cells. Probe lyso-NP-N3 exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity towards H2S (LOD = 23.5 nM) and HOBr (LOD = 254 nM). Additionally, lyso-NP-N3 possessed an excellent lysosome targeting ability and was utilized to visualize the exogenous/endogenous H2S and HOBr in RAW 264.7, Hela and HepG2 cells. Facilitated by this sequentially activated mechanism, the probe was successfully applied to confirm that the reported scavenger of HOBr, N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) mainly relied on its metabolite H2S to eliminate excess HOBr, thereby playing the role of cell regulation and protection. These results establish the crosstalk between H2S and HOBr in lysosome and provide a promising tool to study metabolite interactions.Fluoroquinolones in aquatic environments have caused worldwide concern due to the negative effects on human health and ecological environment. So far, the performance and mechanism for fluoroquinolones removal by the synergistic activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) via vacuum UV (VUV) irradiation and Fe2+ are still blank. Herein, compared with its sub-processes, VUV/Fe2+/PMS process significantly improved the degradation and mineralization efficiencies of three fluoroquinolones. Effect mechanisms of typical parameters (Fe2+ and PMS doses, initial pH) on norfloxacin (NOR) removal by VUV/Fe2+/PMS were elaborated and VUV/Fe2+/PMS showed excellent performance at wide initial pH (3-10). The results of fluorescence molecular probe and radical trapping experiments proved that hydroxyl radical, singlet oxygen, and sulfate radical were primary reactive oxygen species in VUV/Fe2+/PMS. The degradation pathways of NOR in VUV/Fe2+/PMS were mainly defluorination, piperazine ring transformation and quinolone group transformation, and its main inorganic by-products were F-, NO3-, and NH4+. Besides, the synergistic reaction pathways in integrated VUV/Fe2+/PMS process were elaborated. Furthermore, inorganic anions (such as Cl-, NO3-, SO42-, CO32-) hardly affected NOR removal by VUV/Fe2+/PMS, while dissolved organic matter showed slight inhibition. Finally, well-pleasing results of fluoroquinolones removal by VUV/Fe2+/PMS in actual waters highlighted its superiority in the advanced treatment of secondary effluent. As a tremendously noxious and extensively utilized chemical reagent, hydrazine (N2H4) has become a serious threat to ecosystem and human health. Thus, it is desirable to exploit an efficient method for real-time tracking of hydrazine. Here, a novel ratiometric fluorescent probe PBQ-AB for hydrazine was rationally constructed from isolongifolanone. This probe displayed an extremely large Stokes shift of 230 nm and could selectively recognize hydrazine in the presence of other competitive species within an extremely short time ( 40 s). PBQ-AB also displayed some fascinating merits in the detection of hydrazine, including low detection limit (48 nM), wide pH range (5-12), excellent photostability (>240 min), and well-resolved emission wavelength shift (148 nm). Moreover, this probe was utilized to fabricate a ready-to-use electrospinning nanofibrous membrane for convenient detection of hydrazine vapor by virtue of smartphone. Furthermore, PBQ-AB was capable of determining hydrazine contaminant in environmental soil and water samples. Additionally, its favorable performance for detecting hydrazine was successfully demonstrated in live HeLa cells as well as in live Arabidopsis thaliana tissues, manifesting its promising application for labeling hydrazine in living systems. Therefore, we believed that this probe has great potential in environmental analysis and health supervision. The complete separation of vanadium (V) and chromium (Cr) from chrome vanadium slag is still challenging. Many studies focus on the activity of vanadium, while the effect of the other element chromium and their mutual interaction are ignored. Here, we found that proper concentration of chromium can promote the extraction efficiency of vanadium. The extraction of V and Cr with various mass ratios ranging from 81-43 at different initial pH values using primary amine N1923 were studied. The extraction efficiency of V reached nearly 100%, while none of Cr was extracted when the mass ratio of Cr and V is 0.5 under proper pH. Through the dynamic monitoring of species evolutions during extraction, the transformation of the two metals and advantage extracted species were analyzed. Cr would transfer H+ for the combination of V3O93-/V4O124-, providing a great contribution to the continuous extraction of V. The real leachate was applied and 99.9% vanadium pentoxide was produced at a scale of 50 L/h. This paper offers deep insights of the separation of similar metal elements, and guide sustainable vanadium recovery from hazardous waste. The development of a novel textile sludge based activated carbon (TSBAC) adsorbent and its performance for the treatment of textile dyeing effluent, have been explained in this paper. TSBAC was prepared by the thermal treatment of textile effluent treatment sludge followed by the chemical activation using phosphoric acid. link2 Characterization of TSBAC resulted in enhanced specific surface area (123.65 m2/g) along with the presence of active surface functional groups including -OH, -COOH, -CO. TSBAC showed superior adsorption capacity for methylene blue (123.6 mg/g), reactive red 198 (101.4 mg/g), and reactive yellow 145 (96.8 mg/g) individually, and from the synthetic textile effluent (106 mg/g). The pseudo-second order model and Langmuir isotherm model were found to be fitted well with batch experimental data. The results of the continuous column studies showed that adsorption capacity for methylene blue, reactive red 198, reactive yellow 145 are 101.8 mg/g, 76.6 mg/g, and 75.1 mg/g respectively, and the synthetic textile effluent resulted in an adsorption capacity value of 79.1 mg/g. The reuse potential of TSBAC was proved by effective dye removal up to six reuse cycles. link3 The leachability studies proved that the used adsorbent could be safely disposed of without any harmful effect to the environment. This work evaluated the fates of linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N), and total nitrogen (TN) when treating greywater (GW) in an oxygen-based membrane biofilm reactor (O2-MBfR). An influent ratio of chemical oxygen demand to total nitrogen (COD/TN) of 20 g COD/g N gave the best removals of LAS, COD, NH4+-N and TN, and it also had the greatest EPS accumulation in the biofilm. Higher EPS and improved performance were linked to increases in the relative abundances of bacteria able to biodegrade LAS (Zoogloea, Pseudomonas, Parvibaculum, Magnetospirillum and Mycobacterium) and to nitrify (Nitrosomonas and Nitrospira), as well as to ammonia oxidation related enzyme (ammonia monooxygenase). The EPS was dominated by protein, which played a key role in adsorbing LAS, achieving short-time protection from LAS toxicity and allowed LAS biodegradation. Continuous high-efficiency removal of LAS alleviated LAS toxicity to microbial physiological functions, including nitrification, nitrate respiration, the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, achieving the stable high-efficient simultaneous removal of organics and nitrogen in the O2-MBfR.Dichlorvos (DDVP) is an insecticide with neurotoxicity that is widely used in agricultural production and life. However, the effects of acute DDVP poisoning on brain tissue remain underinvestigated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the differences within 15 min-6 h in plasma biochemical indexes, brain histology and metabolites among three groups of commercial broilers orally administered different dosages of DDVP one time (1) high-dose group (11.3 mg/kg), (2) low-dose group (2.48 mg/kg) and (3) control group (0 mg/kg). The results of biochemical indexes showed that acute DDVP poisoning could cause hyperglycemia and oxidative stress in poisoned broilers. Histological examination showed that DDVP could induce brain edema, abnormal expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and neuronal mitochondrial damage in broilers. Whole-brain metabolism showed that DDVP could significantly change the secretion of neurotransmitters, energy metabolism, amino acid metabolism and nucleotide metabolism. Correlation analysis showed that metabolites such as hypoxanthine, acetylcarnitine and glucose 6-phosphate were significantly correlated with blood glucose, biomarkers of oxidative stress and brain injury pathology. The results of this study provide new insights into the molecular mechanism of brain tissue responses to acute DDVP exposure in broilers and deliver important information for clinical research on neurodegenerative diseases caused by acute DDVP poisoning. This study aims to investigate the mineralization of cosmetics producing industrial wastewater (CW) using sono-electrochemical (US-EC) treatments. The influence of operating parameters such as current density (j), electrolyte (Na2SO4) concentration (m), initial pH (pHo), and ultrasonic power was investigated using Ti/RuO2 dimensionally stable electrodes. The results demonstrated 80.9% chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency, 433.5 kWh (kg COD removed)-1 of specific energy consumption at the optimum conditions of P = 100 W, j = 213 A m-2, pHo= 7.6 (natural pH), and m = 1.5 g L-1. With the application of ultrasound, COD removal efficiency increases from 60.2% to 80.9%, with a synergistic effect of 1.1. Kinetics study analysis confirms that mineralization follows the nth order kinetics model. In the presence of ultrasound, the performance of electrochemical treatment gets enhanced due to higher electron transfer, the enhanced production of •OH radicals, and sulfate radicals (SO4•-). The pathway for the degradation of the compound was suggested by quadrupole time of flight mass spectroscopy (QToF-MS).
