In particular, the enhancer-motif (LFEIFEIER) which is specific to the integrin α8β1 association induces viability via p38 MAPK and plays a role in colonization. Integrins have long been desired as therapeutic targets, where low efficiency and receptor redundancy have been major issues. Based on the summarised publications, the enhancer-motif of nephronectin could present a novel therapeutic target.The raising occurrence of antibiotics in the global water bodies has received the emerging concern due to their potential threats of generating the antibiotic-resistive and genotoxic effects into humans and aquatic species. In this direction, the solar energy assisted photocatalytic technique offers a promising solution to address such emerging concern and paves ways for the complete degradation of antibiotics with the generation of less or non-toxic by-products. Particularly, the designing of hybrid photocatalyticcomposite materials has been found to show higher antibiotics degradation efficiencies. As the hybrid photocatalysts are found as the systems with ideal characteristic properties such as superior structural, surface and interfacial properties, they offer enhanced photoabsorbance, charge-separation, -transfer, redox properties, photostability and easy recovery. In this context, this review study presents an overview on the recent developments in the designing of various hybrid photocatalytic systems and their efficiency towards the degradation of various emerging antibiotic pharmaceutical contaminants in water environments.Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are constituted by a group of heterogeneous membrane vesicles secreted by most cell types that play a crucial role in cell-cell communication. CBL0137 In recent years, EVs have been postulated as a relevant novel therapeutic option for cardiovascular diseases, including myocardial infarction (MI), partially outperforming cell therapy. EVs may present several desirable features, such as no tumorigenicity, low immunogenic potential, high stability, and fine cardiac reparative efficacy. Furthermore, the natural origin of EVs makes them exceptional vehicles for drug delivery. EVs may overcome many of the limitations associated with current drug delivery systems (DDS), as they can travel long distances in body fluids, cross biological barriers, and deliver their cargo to recipient cells, among others. Here, we provide an overview of the most recent discoveries regarding the therapeutic potential of EVs for addressing cardiac damage after MI. In addition, we review the use of bioengineered EVs for targeted cardiac delivery and present some recent advances for exploiting EVs as DDS. Finally, we also discuss some of the most crucial aspects that should be addressed before a widespread translation to the clinical arena.The transcription factor p53 has well-recognized roles in regulating cell cycle, DNA damage repair, cell death, and metabolism. It is an important tumor suppressor and pharmacological activation of p53 by interrupting its interaction with the ubiquitin E3 ligase mouse double minute 2 homolog (MDM2) is actively explored for anti-tumor therapies. In immune cells, p53 modulates inflammatory responses, but the impact of p53 on macrophages remains incompletely understood. In this study, we used the MDM2 antagonist idasanutlin (RG7388) to investigate the responses of primary human macrophages to pharmacological p53 activation. Idasanutlin induced a robust p53-dependent transcriptional signature in macrophages, including several pro-apoptotic genes. However, idasanutlin did not generally sensitize macrophages to apoptosis, except for an enhanced response to a Fas-stimulating antibody. In fully differentiated macrophages, idasanutlin did not affect pro-inflammatory gene expression induced by toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), TLR3, and TLR7/8 agonists, but inhibited interleukin-4-induced macrophage polarization. However, when present during monocyte to macrophage differentiation, idasanutlin attenuated inflammatory responses towards activation of TLR4 and TLR7/8 by low doses of lipopolysaccharide or resiquimod (R848). This was accompanied by a reduced expression of CD14, TLR7, and TLR8 in macrophages differentiated in the presence of idasanutlin. Our data suggest anti-inflammatory effects of pharmacological p53 activation in differentiating human macrophages.Knowing the most frequent injuries in canoeists is important, considering the consequences for the athlete's sports career, health, and labour, social and economic life. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the most frequent injuries among high-level canoeists and the intrinsic variables of the sport's practice (years of practice, number of training sessions per week, and stretching habit) that can influence the appearance of such injuries. An observational, transversal, and retrospective epidemiological study was carried out with 122 canoeists that completed a sport injuries questionnaire (number, body area, type, and severity of injuries). The ratio of injuries per participant was 1.1 injuries/year in men; and 1.5 injuries/year in women. Shoulder injuries were the most frequent, followed by knee injuries (in women) and lower back (in men), and the other segments of the upper limbs. In men, injuries occurred more frequently in the central period of training sessions and in women during the last 15 min of training sessions.
