The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Toto saw North America as a growth market for Washlet's bidets and toilets, in contrast to its "base" markets of Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto was recording Toto words to ensure that the next generation could read the words. However, many words were replaced with foreign ones, such as dui from Bengali for verandah.
Origins
Incorporated in 1917, Toto's early years mirrored Japan's economic development. In the beginning, Toto made products to meet the demands for modern, contemporary urban housing. To do this, it employed the first tunnel kiln in the country to produce ceramics in a continuous flow. It also pioneered automation to allow production control, which helps to increase efficiency and consistency.
The company began expanding its operations overseas in the late 1980s in order to take advantage of new markets and sales opportunities. It established the Cera Trading Company, importing and selling other products from other manufacturers to complement its own range of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy helped increase sales and expand the market share of the company globally.
In the 90s, Toto began to concentrate on research and development of water-related appliances. It also upgraded its distribution system to better serve its customers and improve profit. The company used the same approach of just-in-time in its supply chain management as well as sales program. This resulted in a greater level of satisfaction of customers.
Toto continued to develop toilet technology. Its most recent toilet, for example it has an extremely powerful tornado flush that is more ecologically friendly than conventional toilets. The company also uses recycled water in its manufacturing process and has a green purchasing policy. Apart from toilets, Toto manufactures faucets and bathtubs and hand dryers that are more efficient in terms of energy consumption than conventional models.
The company's first museum opened in 2015 and features exhibits on Toto's seminal products and their evolution and its group companies (all that deal with ceramics), history of plumbing and other products such as bath units, and in a separate gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum also has a bathroom that includes a WASHLET toilet as well as other toilet-related innovations.
Before forming Toto the band, members of the group did session work for a variety of musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all played on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also performed on albums by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
You would expect a group with a name like Asia to be a prog rock band however it's actually a pretty straightforward rock group. The band was initially a four-piece and released two albums that were self-titled in 1979 and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. However, even though the group have a wide range of musical backgrounds their biggest breakthrough was achieved in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a huge blockbuster, but it was not without its share of issues. The record companies put Toto under pressure to deliver the top single or they would rescind the album. Luckily for Toto, they did, with the assistance of the smash single "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery is the result of their previous experiences. Before forming the group, the band members were session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their distinctive sound has become the norm for '80s pop, influencing many modern artists.
The album begins with a hefty dose of hard rock with tracks like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write amazing AOR songs that slowly get their hooks into your. However, the album also includes some slower, more jazzy tracks such as The Little Things and Chinatown. The album ends with Great Expectations. This song is a mix of folk and the distorted AOR that could seem like a complete blunder, but works extremely well.
After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to decline. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career, and the band was dominated by drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in the after he was charged with drug abuse. the group continued to perform as a trio, which included Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.
Toto released Isolation despite the turmoil. It was not as well-liked as IV. However, the group had a successful chart-topping album in the year 1992 with Kingdom of Desire. This album marked the end of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new singer.

Line-up
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet arrangement of previous albums and was a more powerful, constant effort with a harder edge than Hydra. Its edgier sound was a reflection of the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's improved proficiency on the drums, as well as an improved, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's keyboard playing was also sharper, more complex and less akin to previous recordings.
After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live concert in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a brand new studio album a few months after and then embarked on a world tour to help promote it. During this period, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started exploring old tapes and demos for an album that would feature songs that had never been recorded before. 토토사이트 was released as a double-album titled Then and Now in 2001. 토지노 사이트 was the first album by the band that did not include a single song with the word "A" in the title, and it also contained one previously not released track, "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth record, Old Is New was an uncommercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis that affected his singing abilities. Additionally, Hungate returned to Nashville and drummer Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.
Downes along with the other members of Asia--Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened a meeting in England in early 2006 to discuss the possibility of officially reforming the band. This lineup, minus Howe (who was working with Yes at the time) was eventually referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
