Uncertainties remain regarding the clinical efficacy of ovarian tissue cryopreservation and grafting. We report a retrospective analysis of reproductive outcomes and lessons learnt following 55 ovarian tissue transplant procedures at our center from 2006 to 2019.
We analyzed variables related to graft success such as tissue volume, follicular density, total follicular volume, and age on the duration of graft function.
Follicular density and total follicular volume correlate positively with duration of graft function. All clinical pregnancies in our cohort occurred in women who were aged 35 or less at the time of ovarian tissue cryopreservation.

Extracellular matrix remodeling is essential for extravillous trophoblast (EVT) cell migration and invasion during placental development and regulated by matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteases (TIMPs). Sphingosine kinases (SPHK1 and SPHK2) synthesize sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), which works either intracellularly or extracellularly via its receptors S1PR1-5 in an autocrine or paracrine manner. The role of SPHKs/S1P in regulating the expression of MMPs and TIMPs in EVT is mostly unknown and forms the primary objective of the study.

Although giant oocytes (GOs) having about twice cytoplasmic volume compared with general oocytes in mammals including the human are rarely recovered, it is thought that GOs have potentially chromosomal abnormalities. The aim of the present study was to assess chromosome numbers in chromosome-spindle complexes (CSCs) and polar bodies of human GOs by using micromanipulation for sampling and next-generation sequencing (NGS) for analyses of the chromosome numbers.
When recovered oocytes whose cytoplasm has lager than 140µm or above, the oocytes were defined as GOs, and recovered GOs were vitrified. After warming, the CSCs, polar bodies, and enucleated cytoplasm were collected by micromanipulation from 3 GOs. The collected samples were analyzed by NGS.
Chromosomal aneuploidy in the GOs was confirmed in all the three GOs. Comparing the CSCs with the chromosomes from polar bodies, the deletion and overlapping chromosome numbers were complementary in each GO.
The authors could collect the CSCs and the polar bodies from human GOs by micromanipulation, and then could analyze the chromosome numbers of the GOs by NGS method. As our data suggest that human GOs have chromosomal abnormalities, GOs should be excluded from clinical purpose as gamete sources for embryo transfer in the human.

Herein, we demonstrate a new kinetic determination of the (minute) open-chain content (OCC) of aldoses. This kinetic approach exploits the aldehyde-selectivity of 2-aminobenzamidoxime (ABAO), which furnishes a strongly UV-active adduct. Simple formation curves can be measured in a photometer or plate reader for high-throughput screening. Under pseudo-first order kinetics, these curves correlate with a prediction model yielding the relative OCC. The OCCs of all parent aldoses (pentoses and hexoses) were determined referencing against the two tetroses with exceptionally high OCCs and were in very good agreement with literature data. Additionally, the assay was extended towards higher-carbon sugars with unknown OCC and also applied to rationalise a lack of reactivity observed in a recent synthetic investigation.
Preterm birth (PTB) is the leading cause of newborn death and the second cause of mortality among under-five children. Globally, about 15 million infants are born preterm every year. However, there is a lack of data on the nutritional-related predictors of preterm birth among Ethiopian women. The objective of the study was to identify nutritional-related predictors of preterm birth among women who gave birth at North Shewa public Hospitals in central Ethiopia.
A case-control study was undertaken in public hospitals in the North Shewa zone, central Ethiopia. Interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to gather data, which was then entered into EPI INFO version 7 and then exported to SPSS version 23 for analysis. Data were presented using texts, tables, and proportions. To find predictors of preterm birth, researcher used binary and multiple logistic regression models. Chemokine RANTES (regulated upon activation, normal T-cell expressed and secreted), also named chemokine C-C motif ligand 5 (CCL5; R/C), is a protein that has been investigated in neuroinflammatory research due to its link to MS development.
Research on bone marrow defects in the jawbone (BMDJ), which morphologically presents as fatty-degenerative osteonecrosis of the jawbone (FDOJ), presents overexpression of R/C signaling in affected areas. Here, we try to elucidate the potential link between jawbone-derived R/C and MS.
Seventeen BMDJ/FDOJ samples extracted from 17 MS patients, as well as samples from 19 healthy controls, were analyzed for R/C expression using bead-based Luminex
analysis. The serum R/C levels from 10 MS patients were examined. Further, bone density, histology, and R/C expression were analyzed in two clinical case studies.
High R/C overexpression was found in all BMDJ/FDOJ samples obtained from the MS group. Serum R/C levels were also upregulated in the MS group. R/C serum levels in the MS cohort were higher than in the healthy controls. A-1155463 manufacturer In contrast, the histology of BMDJ/FDOJ samples showed no inflammatory cells.
R/C-induced "silent inflammation" in MS is widely discussed in the scientific literature, along with R/C triggering of inflammation in the central nervous system, which might be key in the development of MS.

The program helps them to become familiar with the undergraduate medical training. The present intake of first year medical undergraduates had joined the institute amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and hence the foundation program had to be conducted through an online platform. The present paper is a description of the online program conducted in the institute and is aimed to focus on the pros and cons of using an online platform for conducting the program and the experience gained from it. The online foundation program was conducted over a period of 16 days through the Zoom© platform. The program was tailored to cater for the orientation of 175 students who were admitted for first year MBBS batch 2020-2021. Feedback from students was obtained through Google Forms© at the end of the program. The online program was conducted smoothly due to the dedicated efforts of all the team members. Sessions requiring hands-on training and physical field visits had to be omitted in the present program. Network connectivity issues were reported sometimes. The conduction of the online foundation course program was indeed a learning experience. The team work was well reflected in the feedback from the students, which revealed appreciation for the overall program. Many sessions went very well in the online mode; however, sessions on humanities and extracurricular activities could have been organized in a better way with the physical presence of the students.
