He argued that the pragmatism approach was the most natural and authentic way to solve human issues. All other philosophical approaches according to him were ineffective.

Other philosophers who developed pragmatist concepts in the 1900s included George Herbert Mead and W.E.B Du Bois, who formulated pragmatist perspectives upon social science and the study of race relations; Alain Locke, who developed pragmatist ideas regarding the structure of education and science as well as John Dewey, who articulated pragmatist ideas in areas including public policy education, democracy, and the public sector.

Today, pragmatism continues influence the development of scientific and technological applications as well as the design and evaluation of curriculums and educational programs. He also contributed significantly to law, aesthetics, and philosophy of religion. In the latter part of his life, he came to view pragmatism as the philosophy of democracy.

Recent pragmatists developed new areas of study, such as computational pragmatics (the research of computer systems that use context to understand the motivations of their users), game-theoretical and experimental pragmatics, and neuropragmatics. These areas of pragmatics assist to improve our understanding of how information and language is utilized.
