Analysis and systematization of accumulated data on carbohydrate structural diversity is a subject of great interest for structural glycobiology. Despite being a challenging task, development of computational methods for efficient treatment and management of spatial (3D) structural features of carbohydrates breaks new ground in modern glycoscience. This review is dedicated to approaches of chemo- and glyco-informatics towards 3D structural data generation, deposition and processing in regard to carbohydrates and their derivatives. Databases, molecular modeling and experimental data validation services, and structure visualization facilities developed for last five years are reviewed. Background The aim of the study is to assess whether lung function of infants born preterm predicts wheezing in pre-school age. Methods A survey of the core wheezing questionnaire of the International Study on Asthma and Allergy in Children was administered to parents of preterm newborns, to whom lung function tests were performed at a corrected age of six months, and who, at the time of the survey, were between three and nine years of age. Results Low values of all lung function parameters measured, except FVC, were predictors of wheezing at some time in life, (FEV0.5 OR 0.62 (95%CI 0.39; 0.995); FEV0.5/FVC OR 0.73 (0.54; 0.99)) FEF75 OR 0.60 [0.37; 0.93]; FEF25-75 OR 0.57 (0.37; 0.89)); and of wheezing in the past year (FEV0.5 OR 0.36 (0.17; 0.76); FEV0.5/FVC OR 0.59 (0.38; 0.93); FEF75 OR 0.38 [0.19; 0.76]; FEF25-75 OR 0.35 (0.17; 0.70). In addition, FEV0.5/FVC values lower than the lowest limit of normality, were predictive of hospital admissions due to wheezing (OR 3.07; (1.02; 9.25)). Conclusions Limited lung function in infancy is predictive of both future wheezing and hospitalization for a wheezing episode.Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a nontransfusional hemocomponent, considered as a powerful concentrate of growth factors (GFs) therapeutically used to stimulate tissue regeneration. The use of autologous PRP, as the patient's own biological material, for therapeutic purposes represents a safe and effective alternative to conventional treatments in both human and veterinary medicine. The aim of this study was the characterization of canine PRP from rheological and biological points of view. Thus, a characterization of the viscoelastic properties of the PRP systems was performed in order to clarify the influence of different calcium concentrations, in the presence of autologous thrombin-rich solution, on the PRP gels' mechanical properties, from which the applicability of these systems in biomedical treatments is strongly dependent. Then, an evaluation of the content of GFs in PRP, activated or not with thrombin, and stored at different temperatures (37 °C and -20 °C) was performed over time, outlining, for the first time, the importance of the effect of physiological temperature (37 °C) on the production of GFs. A clinical case study conducted in a dog with a complete rupture of the common calcaneal tendon (Achilles tendon) confirmed the relevance of this hemocomponent in the daily veterinary clinical activity and the potential translational value for human health.
Three PARPis (olaparib, niraparib and rucaparib) are currently FDA-approved as maintenance therapy in newly diagnosed and recurrent ovarian cancer. However, thus far, no trial has compared the three approved PARPis in the overall population, in patients with
mutations, or in those with wild-type
.
A frequentist network meta-analysis was used for indirect comparisons between the different PARPis with respect to progression free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and adverse events.
Overall, six randomized clinical trials involving 2,770 patients, were included in the analysis. Results from the indirect comparisons revealed no statistically significant differences between the three PARPis with respect to PFS or OS in the entire population and in patients with mutated and wild-type BRCA, separately. Niraparib showed a statistically significant increased risk for grade 3 and 4 thrombocytopenia (risk-difference [RD] from placebo 0.3; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.27‒0.34) and any grade neutropenia (RD from placebo 0.22; 95% CI, 0.18‒0.25) as compared with the other PARPis.
No statistically significant difference was found between the three PARPis with respect to PFS or OS (overall and in subpopulations by
status). There is, however, a statistical difference in toxicity as niraparib is associated with a greater risk for thrombocytopenia and neutropenia.

The COVID-19 pandemic shows that the population can experience general psychological distress. zeomycin The sanitary regime in dental offices and lack of vaccine for coronavirus may have an impact on the level of dental anxiety among patients undergoing oral surgery procedures. A clinical study was conducted between November 2019 and September 2020. A total of 175 patients (n = 175) were enrolled in the research. The aim of the study was to assess the attitude of patients towards the new situation related to the reduced availability of dental offices providing oral surgery procedures. The level of anxiety associated with surgical intervention was measured using a self-made COVID-19 questionnaire and the MDAS scale. The ED-5Q questionnaire and EQ-VAS scale were also used in this research. The study showed that 21.9% of respondents presented with increased anxiety about a dental visit compared with the time before the pandemic. This epidemiological situation has led to an overwhelming increase in moderate dental anxiety (M 11.4) among patients undergoing oral surgery procedures. The quality of patients' health (EQ-VAS) related to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the quarantine decreased by 10 percentage points. Oral surgeons should be prepared for more anxious patients in dental offices during the pandemic.
