3ppm, respectively), except the Zn. The cumulative exposure to HMC in cosmetics because of prolonged use is a possible source of HMC toxicity.Photooxidation is one of the causes of quality deterioration in food. An antioxidant or singlet oxygen quencher is urgently needed to prevent photooxidation. γ-Oryzanol was recognized as a naturally present antioxidant in rice bran products. This research aimed to calculate the singlet oxygen quenching rate and its mechanism of γ-oryzanol to evaluate the potency of γ-oryzanol as singlet oxygen quencher. A series of linoleic acid (50 and 100 mM) or γ-oryzanol (0.7 and 1.5 mM) were prepared separately in ethanol chloroform (964, v/v) containing 25 ppm of erythrosine. High-Performance Liquid Chromatography quantified the degradation of γ-oryzanol. Meanwhile, Gas Chromatography determined the changes in linoleic acid content during photooxidation. The singlet oxygen quenching rate was calculated by steady-state. The singlet oxygen quenching rate of γ-oryzanol was 3.04 × 106/M/s by physical and chemical quenching mechanism. Photooxidation caused the declined of γ-oryzanol by 0.1421 mM/h. Based on singlet oxygen quenching rate calculation, it suggests that γ-oryzanol can perform as a singlet oxygen quencher with slightly dominated by physical quenching mechanism (52.28%). Rhapontigenin order The rest it performed via a chemical quenching mechanism.
Pneumonia is still a major cause of death and incurs significant morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Thus, patients care does not only focus on treatment but also identifying factors that associated with the patient's outcome. Therefore we defined factors associated with mortality in pediatric pneumonia and assessed the outcome of pneumonia supported by mechanical ventilation in children.

We performed cohort retrospective study by collecting data of pediatric pneumonia patients who admitted to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, from 2014 to 2016. Chi square and multivariate logistic regression tests were used to analyze the variables anemia, comorbidities, bacteremia, age between 1-6 months old, and underweight as associated factors for mortality.

One hundred and eleven children were included in this study. Those patients were diagnosed as community acquired pneumonia (79.3%), hospital acquired pneumonia (14.4%) and ventilator associated pneumonia (6.3%), with mortality rate 47.7%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that bacteremia, and underweight could be used as predictor factors of mortality for pediatric patients with pneumonia who were supported by mechanical ventilation with OR 2.5 (CI 95% 1.03-6.1) and 2.4 (CI 95% 1.1-5.7), respectively.

Factors associated with mortality for pediatric patients with pneumonia who were supported by mechanical ventilation were bacteremia and underweight. It is necessary to compare our findings with other centers.

Analyses of proximate composition, physicochemical and hygroscopic behaviour were carried out in both flour, as well as sensory analysis of the produced cookies. Both the types of flour did not differ statistically in total lipids, total carbohydrates and ashes (p > 0.05). Among the mathematical models tested for the prediction of the hygroscopic behaviour of both flour, Halsey model showed the best fit to the experimental data (R2 = 0.99 and P70%). The purchase intention inquiry showed that the cookie prepared with the whole fruit flour presented the highest percentage of purchase intention (85%), which demonstrate that the use of peach palm peels in the development of new food products represent an excellent alternative for the use of by-products.Water is the ultimate and mostly used media during textile materials processing, especially in colouration. This study investigated the possibilities of using seawater for cotton and polyester fabrics dyeing. Single jersey fabrics made of 100 percent cotton and polyester were dyed using a standard recipe and two separate water source as dyeing mediums. It has been focused on the assessment of colour fastness to wash, perspiration, saliva, rubbing, water, light and colour difference value due to compare the efficiency of dyeing media. The results revealed that the cotton fabric dyed with seawater showed lighter shade than that of ground water sample. But for polyester fabric darker shade was obtained compared to ground water. The cotton sample dyed with sea water carried about 15% higher colour strength than ground water dyed sample but for polyester it was very negligible, only 3%. Moreover, the results of colour fastness to wash, perspiration, saliva, rubbing, water and light for seawater dyed samples of cotton and polyester were shown satisfactory outcomes having the grading of 4-5 in most of the cases. This exploration established that commercial dyeing processes were robust and can be practically transferable into the seawater medium for cotton and polyester fabrics.
Gasoline is a blend of organic compounds used in internal combustion engines. gasoline station attendants (GSA) are exposed to gasoline vapours, which promotes oxidative stress through the production of ROS, which can damage biological structures with the formation of new metabolites which can be used as markers of oxidant/antioxidant imbalance. This is a comparative cross-sectional study. This study aims to evaluate some biological parameters as indicators of toxicity as a result of exposure to gasoline in workers at gas stations in Damascus.

Blood samples were collected from GSA (n = 30) and non-exposed (NE) (n = 30) with no history of occupational exposure, and the following markers of oxidative stress were analysed malondialdehyde (MDA), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), catalase activity (CAT), CBC, ALT and AST.

We have found that the levels of MDA, AOPP, CAT, RBC and Hgb in GSA were significantly higher than NE (p = 0.000, p = 0.02, p = 0.002, p = 0.018 and p = 0.015 respectively). On thon for those populations more susceptible to the adverse effects of gasoline exposure. This study aims to evaluate the effects of preservatives on somatic cells of Allium cepa. For the evaluation of cytotoxicity, root meristems of A. cepa were treated with 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 ppm concentration for 5, 10, 15 days. The root tips showed concentration dependent growth retardation in all the used concentrations, as well as root texture, also has been changed mitotic index, total protein content decreased and frequency of chromosomal aberrations increased after 5 days treatment. Additionally, the RAPD-PCR method was applied to evaluate genotoxicity and found the highest concentration (2500 ppm) was comparatively more distant to the control group. Results concluded that BHT and BHA showed positive results and cytotoxic.Thymus vulgaris Linn. is a medicinal and culinary herb from the Southern European region known for its anti-infective, cardioprotective, gastroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory activities since the Egyptian era. The reported pharmacological activities of T. vulgaris L. include antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anti-cancerous activities. In this review, a comprehensive approach is put forth to scrutinize and report the available data on phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology, pharmacology, and toxicology of the plant. The different extracts and essential oil obtained from the plant have been assessed and reported to treat ailments like microbial infections, inflammation, non-communicable diseases like cancer, and sexually transmitted diseases like HIV-1 and Herpes. The literature review has also indicated the use of volatile oils, phenolic acids, terpenoids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, tannins, alkaloids, and polysaccharides in pharmacotherapy. Applications of these compounds including antidiabetic, anti-Alzheimer's, cardio, neuro and hepatoprotective, anti-osteoporosis, sedative, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, anti-tyrosinase, antispasmodic, antinociceptive, gastroprotective, anticonvulsant, antihypertensive, antidepressant, anti-amnesia, and anti-helminthic activities have been mentioned. Further, based on research gaps, recommendations have been provided to evaluate T. vulgaris L. systematically to develop plant-based drugs, nutraceuticals, and to evaluate their clinical efficiency and safety.

In Ethiopia, the human papillomavirus vaccine has been introduced since 2018. Since the vaccination program targets girls age 9-13, the success of vaccination depends on the parental decision and their willingness to vaccinate their daughters. Therefore, a study on parental willingness to vaccinate their daughter and factors associated is needed.

To assess parent's willingness to vaccinate their daughter against the human papillomavirus and its associated factors in Bench-Sheko Zone, southwest Ethiopia.

A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 502 participants in Bench-Sheko Zone, southwest Ethiopia. The participants were selected using a systematic random sampling method. Frequency tables, mean and standard deviation were used to summarize the data. A binary logistic regression using bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with parental willingness to vaccinate their daughter. The level of significance was declared at P-value < 0.
