g. target under-coverage). Others showed a large dependency on the shape and volume of targets and isodoses. Metric values differed between calculations in a static plan and in simulated full treatment courses including setup errors, especially for metrics quantifying distribution and location of hot and cold spots. We provide an Eclipse plugin script to calculate and visualize selected metrics.
The selected set of metrics provides complementary and comprehensive quantitative information about the spatial dose distribution. This work serves as a step towards broader consensus on the use of spatial dose metrics.

There remains a gap in the literature analyzing how categorical variables may affect the highly competitive neurosurgery residency application process for MD Seniors in the United States. We aimed to improve understanding of the impact of medical school prestige and geographic location on candidacy for neurosurgery residency.
Schools were stratified into high and low prestige cohorts based on the U.S. News and World Report Rankings and by geographic location. Publicly available match data displayed by websites of included medical schools from 2016 to 2020 were examined, and neurosurgery residency placement rates were then compared. Analysis was performed using Fisher's exact test and chi-square analysis, with a p-value of 0.05.
There were 6685 total matches in the high-prestige cohort and 12,997 total matches in the low-prestige cohort, with 115 (1.72%) and 113 (0.87%) neurosurgery matches, respectively (OR = 2.00, p<0.0001). Considering geographic location, there were 5244 total matches in the Midwest, 3456 total matches in the West, 4994 total matches in the South, and 6053 total matches in the Northeast, with 51 (0.97%), 24 (0.69%), 83 (1.66%), and 114 (1.88%) being neurosurgery residency placements, respectively (p<0.0001).
Neurosurgery residency placement may be correlated with attending more prestigious medical schools and those located in the Northeast or South United States. Further elucidation of similar variables may prove to be important as neurosurgery residency becomes more competitive and the evaluation process changes.

While countries such as Australia have securitised their borders in response to the global spread of disease, flows of information and collective affect continue to permeate these boundaries. Drawing on interviews with Australian healthcare workers, we examine how their experiences of the pandemic are shaped by affect and evidence 'traveling' across time and space. Our analysis points to the limitations of global health crisis responses that focus solely on material risk and spatial separation. Institutional responses must, we suggest, also consider the affective and discursive dimensions of health-related risk environments. The aim was to sonographically evaluate the reproductive tract of bitches during the follicular phase of the estrous cycle using High Density (HD) ultrasonic techniques. Females (n = 8) were evaluated at five different times throughout the follicular phase, as determined by vaginal cytology and blood progesterone concentrations. Ultrasonic exams were performed using the ACUSON S2000/SIEMENS device utilizing a multifrequency HD transducer (5.5-18 MHz). Videos of the ovaries were obtained and recordings were evaluated using a DICOM viewer software for counting and measuring the ovarian structures, which were assigned to groups based on diameter in mm G1 ≤ 1; G2 from 1.01 to 3.5; G3 from 3.51 to 5.5; G4 from 5.51 to 10. There was a greater uterine thickness with the progression of the follicular phase (P less then 0.05). Six distinct regions were identified in the uterine wall. The ovarian dimensions increased (P less then 0.05) as stage of the follicular phase advanced. There was fluid detected around the ovaries after ovulation. There was a characteristic fat tissue hyperechogenicity around the ovaries at all timepoints. There was a difference in the number of ovarian structures of each dimension group at each time there were assessments (P less then 0.05). There was a difference in diameter of the largest ovarian structure and in average value of wall thickness at all timepoints when there were evaluations (P less then 0.05). The HD ultrasonography technique provides for excellent image resolution, allowing for a more precise characterization of the bitch's reproductive structures and changes occurring during the follicular phase of the estrous cycle.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical properties of two different fixation constructs in varus collapse proximal humerus fracture, locking plate with medial support screw and locking plate with intramedullary fibular graft.
We used 8 pairs of undamaged fresh-frozen humen cadaveric humeri and fibula from patients ranging in age from 62 to 81years. We simulated a proximal humerus fracture with medial comminution using wedge shaped osteotomy. One group was fixed with locking plate with medial support screws, the other group with locking plate with intramedullary fibular graft. Biomechanical test was carried out using servohydraulic material testing system. We measured displacement of specimens under cyclic load test, maximum failure load, initial stiffness, and mode of failure under increasing load test.
Under cyclic loading, the displacement of the specimen was significantly less in the locking plate with fibular strut graft group than in the locking plate with medial support screws group. (p=0.012) Under increasing load test, the Locking plate with fibular strut graft group showed higher values in both maximum failure load and initial stiffness than the Locking plate with medial support screws group, and this was statistically significant. (p=0.012, p=0.001).
In biomechanical study, the locking plate with fibular strut graft showed significantly better results in all of the maximum failure load, initial stiffness, and gap depletion compared to the locking plate with medial support screws.

We report the continued availability of flavored cigars based on our analysis of discarded cigar wrappers collected in February 2019, after a partial flavor ban in Oakland, CA.
We collected 1,501 discarded cigar wrappers in a stratified random sample of census tracts (n=15). Collected packages were cleaned, photographed, and coded for product type, brand name, pack size, flavor descriptor, and pricing details.
More than half (58.5%, CI 95%=50-67.1%) of the cigar wrappers collected were flavored. When controlling for product type, pack size, and brand, there were statistical differences in the presence of flavored tobacco products that align with census tract racial and ethnic demographics. The odds of finding flavored cigars in black/African American tracts census tracts were significantly higher (AOR=2.13, p<.05) than in white (non-Hispanic) census tracts. We also found that wrappers for larger cigar packs (containing three or more cigars) (77.7%) were the most likely to be flavored.
Flavored cigars continued to be wide available despite Oakland's partial ban on flavored tobacco products. Serious consideration is warranted for comprehensive bans on the sale of flavored tobacco products and ongoing surveillance to assess their availability.

The sample consisted of 2128 fourth- and fifth-grade students (55.69% male, age = 9 to 13, Mage ± SD = 10.91 ± 0.80) who participated in two measurements and completed questionnaires about parental psychological control, PSU, psychological security and insomnia. The results indicated that (1) Autoregressive cross-lagged models showed a reciprocal relationship between parental psychological control and PSU severity in early adolescence. (2) Both psychological security and insomnia mediate the link between parental psychological control and subsequent PSU severity. (3) Psychological security and insomnia play serial mediating roles between parental psychological control and subsequent PSU severity. These findings indicate that reducing parental psychological control, boosting psychological security and alleviating insomnia symptoms in adolescents are all conducive to decrease PSU severity in early adolescence.
Tobacco use is common in people who experience homelessness. However, despite biological differences in use by sex and lower quit rates in women, research in homeless and unstably housed (HUH) women is sparse. We identified correlates of use specific to this population, with the goal of informing tobacco cessation programs tailored for HUH women.
We conducted a prospective study among HUH women recruited from San Francisco homeless shelters, street encampments, free meal programs and low-income hotels. Between June 2016 and January 2019, study participants completed six monthly interviews to examine factors associated with tobacco use, defined as urinary cotinine >10pg/mL or self-reported prior 30-day use.
Among 245 participants, 40% were Black, the median age was 53, 75% currently used tobacco and 89% had ≥one 24-hour quit attempt in the prior year. Tobacco use was more common in women with PTSD (66% vs. 48%) and depression (54% vs. 35%) compared to women without these conditions. Adjusted odds of tobacco use decreased significantly with increasing age (OR
0.81; 95% CI0.68, 0.96) and increased with an increasing number of additional substances used (OR 2.52; 95% CI 1.88, 3.39).
Outside of a treatment setting and within a community-recruited sample population composed of HUH women, the number of additional substances used is a primary correlate of ongoing tobacco use. Tailored cessation interventions that prioritize the issue of multiple substance use, and public health policies that allocate funding to address it, may increase tobacco cessation in this population.
