In addition, we developed a disease susceptibility index (SI) of six categories ranging from highly resistant (SI= 0), to highly susceptible (SI= 1.5-2). The more resistant genotypes were moderately resistant with an SI value of 0.49 - 0.54 and a PLACL of 6.5 - 9%. In contrast, the more susceptible genotype scored an SI of 1.52 and PLACL of 48%. Host susceptibility was also assessed relative to the sporulation of the pathogen. This showed that the percentage of sporulation did significantly correlate with host resistance. Overall, the results provide the basis for rigorous screening and selection of resistant genotypes to the disease caused by T. destructans using artificial inoculation.China is the largest chili pepper producing country, and Hebei Province stands out as the forth with planting area at about 1500 km2 in China. In May of 2022, leaf spot disease of rose apple was discovered in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand, with approximately 30% disease incidence. The typical symptoms initially showed brown spots (0.1 to 0.5 mm in diameter) with a yellow halo surrounding. These spots then expanded with black edges and the infected leaves appear blighted and desiccated. In humid conditions, pale yellow conidiomata formed on the lesions. Small pieces (5 × 5 mm2) of the margins between lesions and the healthy tissue were surface disinfected with 1% NaClO for 1 min, 70% ethanol for 30 s, and washed three times with sterile distilled water. Tissues were placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and incubated at 25 ºC for three days. Three fungal isolates (SDBR-CMU419, SDBR-CMU420, and SDBR-CMU421) were obtained that exhibited similar morphology. Fungal colonies appeared white to gray with cottony mycelia after incubation on PDA at rose apples cultivated in Lao and Thailand. To our knowledge, this is the first report of C. siamense causing leaf spots on rose apple plants in Thailand. Importantly, these findings will provide crucial information for epidemiologic studies and in the development of appropriate management strategies for this newly emerging disease.Glomerella leaf spot (GLS) and bitter rot (BR), caused by Colletotrichum spp., are major diseases on apple in southern Brazil. Among IPM tools for disease management in commercial orchards, fungicides remain an important component. This study aimed to identify Colletotrichum species from cultivar Eva in Paraná state orchards, evaluate their in vitro sensitivity to cyprodinil, tebuconazole, iprodione, and fluazinam, and determine the baseline in vitro sensitivity of these isolates to benzovindiflupyr and natamycin. Most isolates belonged to C. melonis and C. nymphaeae of the C. acutatum species complex. The two species varied in sensitivity to fluazinam and tebuconazole, but no variability was found for any other fungicide. The lowest EC50 values of Colletotrichum spp. were observed for cyprodinil (mean EC50 12). Cyprodinil and fluazinam are registered for use in Brazil for apple disease management but not specifically for GLS and BR. Tebuconazole is one of the few products registered for Colletotrichum spp. control in apples. As conclusion, flowers and fruitlets can serve as sources of inoculum for GLS and BR disease; C. acutatum was the predominant species complex in these tissues; cyprodinil and fluazinam applications may suppress GLS and BR; and benzovindiflupyr and natamycin warrant further investigation for GLS and BR disease control of apple due to comparably high in vitro sensitivity.Ipomoea nil (Linnaeus) Roth, belonging to the Convolvulaceae family, is an ornamental and medicinal plant in China, which has the function of diuretic and expectorant, and it is also a common weed in the field. In October 2021, a leaf spot disease was observed on I. nil in a field as weed in Jingzhou (N 30° 21', E 112° 19'), Hubei Province, China. Symptoms began as small brown blotches, then developed into oval or irregularly shaped brown necrotic lesions. In severe cases, the leaves were completely necrotic and detached. In the surveyed area, the incidence was between 30% - 40%. To isolate the pathogen, twenty-one leaf pieces (5×5 mm) were cut from the lesion edges of seven symptomatic leaves, disinfected with 70% ethanol and 2% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), rinsed with sterile water five times, then placed on three potato dextrose agar (PDA) modified with 50 μg/mL kanamycin, and incubated at 25 °C in dark for 5 days. The isolates were subcultured by transferring mycelium tips. Sixteen fungal strains were isod in the field were observed on leaves of inoculated plants, while control remained healthy. A. alternata was re-isolated from the inoculated symptomatic leaves with a frequency of 100% based on morphological and molecular characters, thus Koch's postulate was confirmed. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of A. alternata causing leaf spot on I. nil in China. Our findings extended the host range of the pathogen A. alternata on characteristic plants.The urban built environment stocks such as buildings and infrastructure provide essential services to urban residents, and their spatiotemporal dynamics are key to the circular and low-carbon transition of cities. However, spatiotemporally explicit characterization of urban built environment stocks remains hitherto limited, and previous studies on fine-grained mapping of built environment stocks often focus on an urban area without consideration of temporal dynamics. Here, we combined the emerging geospatial data and historical maps to quantify the spatially and temporally refined stocks of buildings and infrastructure and developed a novel indexing method to track the construction, demolition, and renovation for each building across various historical snapshots, with a case study of Odense, Denmark, from 1810 to 2018. We show that built environment stock in Odense increased from 80 t/cap in 1810 to 279 t/cap in 2018. Their dynamics appear overall in line with urban development of Odense over the past two centuries and well reflect the combined effects of industrialization, infrastructure development, socioeconomic characteristics, and policy interventions. Such spatiotemporally explicit stock mapping offers a physical and resource perspective for measuring urbanization and provides the public and government insight into urban spatial planning and related resource, waste, and climate strategies.A detailed mechanistic study of Co(III)-catalyzed C4-alkenylation of 3-acetylindole (1a) was done based on calculations at density functional theory (DFT) and correlated wave function levels. The whole catalytic cycle consists of four steps C-H activation, olefin insertion, β-hydride elimination, and regeneration of the catalyst. The theoretical results support olefin insertion as the rate-determining step leading to the experimentally observed regioselectivity of the C4 site over the C2 site. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are over-the-counter medications that are widely indicated for mild to moderate pain conditions. Clinically, the selection of a medication among this class is mainly based according to both patient's and doctor's previous experiences. Herein, we studied differences in therapeutic efficacies among the most commonly prescribed NSAIDs and acetaminophen in inflammatory pain rat model. Body stretching and food consumption behaviors were assessed after intraperitoneal administration of lactic acid. Initially, different concentrations of lactic acid were evaluated in adult male rats in both behavioral models. Acid concentrations of 1.8 and 3.2% were selected to assess the effects of ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen, and acetaminophen in body stretching and feeding behaviors, respectively. In the feeding study, food restriction for 1-24 h prior to feeding studies was assessed at first, and 24 h was selected for further tests. Acetaminophen (100 mg/kg), diclofenac (10 mg/kg), ibuprofen (10-32 mg/kg), and naproxen (3.2-10 mg/kg) significantly decreased acid-stimulated body stretching. Likewise, acetaminophen (100 mg/kg), diclofenac (10 mg/kg), and ibuprofen (32 mg/kg) increased food consumption significantly after 3.2% lactic acid. There were no significant differences between different test drugs efficacies in both stretching and feeding behaviors. In conclusion, feeding behavior provides a good appraisal for pain and analgesic drugs in preclinical studies.
