Specialized medical functions as well as management of bronchial rupture associated with pulmonary hydatid cyst in kids: any retrospective study regarding Thirty six patients.
Radiotherapy-induced glioblastomas (RIGB) are a well-known late and rare complication of brain irradiation. Yet the clinical, radiological and molecular characteristics of these tumors are not well characterized.

This was a retrospective multicentre study that analysed adult patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma over a 10-year period. Patients with RIGB were identified according to Cahan's criteria for radiation-induced tumors. A case-control analysis was performed to compare known prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) with an independent cohort of
wildtype
glioblastomas treated with standard temozolomide chemoradiotherapy. Survival analysis was performed by Cox proportional hazards regression.

A total of 590 adult patients were diagnosed with glioblastoma. 19 patients (3%) had RIGB. The mean age of patients upon diagnosis was 48 years ± 15. The mean latency duration from radiotherapy to RIGB was 14 years ± 8. The mean total dose was 58Gy ± 10. One-third of patients (37%, 7/19) had naso be pMGMT unmethylated may contribute to their poorer prognosis. When possible re-irradiation may offer a survival benefit. Nasopharyngeal cancer and germinomas accounted for the majority of original malignancies reflecting their prevalence among Southern Chinese.Polyamines are known to accumulate in response to stress. Compelling evidence indicate a protective role for polyamines during defense. However, signaling pathways underlying polyamine functions have not been fully elucidated. We recently found that the polyamine putrescine (Put) accumulates during effector triggered immunity (ETI). Treatment with Put triggered local and systemic transcriptional reprogramming partly overlapping with systemic acquired resistance (SAR) responses. In addition, Put treatment led to local salicylic acid (SA) accumulation and systemic defenses against virulent bacteria. Consistent with this, we found that Put signaling is mainly ROS dependent and partly compromised by ENHANCED DISEASE SUSCEPTIBILITY1 (EDS1), SALICYLIC ACID INDUCTION DEFICIENT 2 (SID2) and NONEXPRESSOR of PR GENES1 (NPR1) loss-of-function mutations. Here, we propose a preliminary model by which putrescine contributes to local and systemic defenses in Arabidopsis thaliana.Introduction The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic has impacted both land and maritime health services. The purpose of this study is to describe the calls received by the Tele-Medical Assistance Service (TMAS) in relation to this epidemic. Methods From March 1 to 30 April 30, 2020, all records coded by TMAS doctors as "influenza due to an unidentified virus" were extracted. The following data were collected patients' age, gender, nationality, role on board, type of ship, area of navigation, reason for the teleconsultation, patient's symptoms, whether or not a COVID test had been carried out, and treatment given. The data were analyzed in two groups, depending on the reason for the consultation teleconsultation for suspected COVID patients and teleconsultation for non-COVID patients for whom the call was nevertheless related to the COVID pandemic. Results Sixty-one records were included-51 for suspected COVID patients and 10 records for COVID-related problems (six patients whose treatment had stopped due to shortage of medication/one patient reporting a psychiatric problem associated with isolation, three patients followed up as contact cases). Forty-five patients presented with fever when the first call was made (88%) and 39 had a cough (76%). On closure of the medical records, 33 were receiving treatment on board (65%), 10 had disembarked (20%), 1 had been rerouted (2%), and 7 had been evacuated (13%). Discussion TMAS was able to aid professional sailors as well as passengers/recreational sailors in terms of telemedicine (diagnosis and monitoring), logistics (barrier actions and isolation), and operations (evacuation and repatriation).BACKGROUND Orthopedic surgery can be performed in hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) and ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs), as well as in traditional inpatient venues. Patients who undergo orthopedic surgery may be prescribed opioids for the management of postsurgical pain. However, the association between surgery venue, postsurgical opioid use, and health care costs remains unclear. OBJECTIVE To compare postsurgical opioid use and health care costs associated with 6 different orthopedic surgical procedures performed at inpatient, ASC, and HOPD venues. METHODS Using the Optum Research Database, this retrospective study analyzed commercial health care claims from adult patients in the United States undergoing specific orthopedic procedures (total knee arthroplasty, partial knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty, total shoulder arthroplasty, rotator cuff repair, and lumbar spinal fusion) between April 1, 2012, and December 31, 2017. The date of the first procedure in that period was the index date; concosts and decrease the potential for persistent opioid use. DISCLOSURES This study and editorial support for the preparation of this manuscript was funded by Pacira BioSciences, which contracted with Optum to conduct the study. Cisternas, Korrer, and Wilson are employees of Optum. Waterman was employed with Pacira BioSciences at the time of the study. Portions of this work were presented at AMCP Nexus 2019; October 29-November 1, 2019; National Harbor, MD.Mobile wound signals transmitted from local damaged to distal undamaged sites induce upsurge of jasmonic acid (JA) and activation of core JA signaling, priming the whole plant for broad-spectrum resistance/immunity against future challenges. We recently characterized two jasmonate importers AtJAT3 and AtJAT4 in Arabidopsis thaliana jasmonate transporter (JAT) family that cooperatively regulate the transmission of JA from leaf-to-leaf in this wound-induced systemic response/resistance (WSR). As half-molecule ATP-binding cassette transporters, AtJAT3 and AtJAT4 need to form homodimers or/and heterodimer to function. Here we show interactions in AtJAT3-AtJAT3, AtJAT3-AtJAT4, and AtJAT4-AtJAT4 pairs by both yeast two-hybrid and bimolecular fluorescent complementation assays. Furthermore, we propose a model in which the homo-/hetero-dimers of AtJAT3/AtJAT4 mediated cell-cell transport of JA drives long-distance transmission of JA signal in a self-propagation mode and give perspectives on future works to reinforce this model.
Women use fertility tracking apps (FTAs) for conception purposes, but user perspectives on FTA use for conception are largely unknown. In collaboration with SPD Clearblue, this study explored how women trying to conceive use FTAs; women's knowledge of their conception chances; and women's feelings towards a potential natural conception prediction app (NCPA).

A mixed methods design was used (online survey and phone interviews). Participants were women 18-40 years old actively trying to conceive.

The survey received 154 responses and 24 interviews were conducted. Thematic analysis of interviews found that women consider several factors before trying to conceive (ex. age, financial and job security, stability of relationship, etc.) and may adopt lifestyle and behaviour changes when trying (ex. increasing exercise, smoking cessation, diet changes, etc.). Survey results indicated that nearly all respondents were aware of FTAs (
= 146, 94.8%), however, several other fertility and conception information sources were also used (ex. health care providers, online sources, family and friends, etc.). Nearly all respondents reported they would use an NCPA (
= 153, 99.4%). During interviews women had positive feelings towards such an app due to it offering new and individualised information, but worried the app could provide upsetting information.

This research elaborates on women's uses of and interest in FTAs. Stakeholders should use this research to reflect on current conception experiences and possibilities for improvement through development of an NCPA. Future research should seek opinions from a more diverse sample of women to inform the development of an inclusive NCPA.

Traditionally, nanoparticle (NP) toxicity is tested by introducing NPs to cells through suspension in the growth media, but this does not mimic respiratory exposures. Different methods to introduce aerosolized NPs to cells cultured at the air-liquid-interface (ALI) have been developed, but require specialized equipment and are associated with higher cost and time. Therefore, it is important to determine whether aerosolized setups induce different cellular responses to NPs than traditional ones, which could provide new insights into toxicological responses of NP exposure. This study evaluates the response of human alveolar epithelial cells (A549) to zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs after dry aerosol exposure in the Nano Aerosol Chamber for In Vitro Toxicity (NACIVT) system as compared to conventional, suspension-based exposure cells at ALI or submerged. Similar to other studies using nebulization of ZnO NPs, we found that dry aerosol exposure of ZnO NPs via the NACIVT system induced different cellular responses as compared to conventional methods. ZnO NPs delivered at 1.0 µg/cm2 in the NACIVT system, mimicking occupational exposure, induced significant increases in metabolic activity and release of the cytokines IL-8 and MCP-1, but no differences were observed using traditional exposures. While factors associated with the method of exposure, such as differing NP aggregation, may contribute toward the different cellular responses observed, our results further encourage the use of more physiologically realistic exposure systems for evaluating airborne ENM toxicity.Working conditions of nurses in general palliative care in Germany - A cross-sectional survey Abstract. Background Most terminally ill people are treated within general palliative care including outpatient care, nursing homes and hospitals. In contrast, only a small number is treated within specialised palliative care. Cerdulatinib ic50 Nursing research within the framework of palliative care focuses on the latter.
To investigate the working conditions of nurses working in general palliative care and to analyse potential differences between nurses in outpatient care, in nursing homes and in hospitals.

A cross-sectional survey was conducted among nurses working in outpatient care, in nursing homes and in hospitals. The questionnaire included questions about working conditions, parts of the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire and self-developed questions. Descriptive and bivariate analyses were conducted.

437 questionnaires entered final analyses (response rate 16.7 %). On average, nurses spend 20 % of their working time with palliative care.
