Static correction: Rehnelt et al. Frequency-Dependent Multi-Well Cardiotoxicity Screening process Made it possible for by Optogenetic Arousal. Int. L. Mol. Sci. 2017, Eighteen, 2634.
This study points to the important role of self-disgust in dermatological conditions. Public health programs to counteract stigmatization of patients with skin diseases as well as therapy approaches that help decrease patients' self-disgust and increase self-acceptance are urgently needed.Sensing of the intestinal microbiota by the host immune system is important to induce protective immune responses. Hence, modification of the gut microbiota might be able to prevent or treat allergies, mediated by proinflammatory Th2 immune responses. The aim was to investigate the ex vivo immunomodulatory effects of the synbiotics Pollagen® and Kallergen®, containing the probiotic bacterial strains Lactobacillus, Lacticaseibacillus and Bifidobacterium, in the context of grass pollen allergy. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from grass pollen-allergic patients and healthy controls were stimulated with grass pollen extract (GPE) and synbiotics and Gata3 expression and cytokine secretion analyzed. Monocyte-derived dendritic cells (MoDCs) cells were matured in the presence of GPE and synbiotics, co-cultured with autologous naïve T cells and maturation markers and cytokine secretion analyzed. GPE stimulation of PBMCs from grass pollen-allergic patients resulted in a significant higher production of the Th2 cytokines IL-4, IL-5, IL-9 and IL-13 compared to healthy controls. Gata3+CD4+ T cell induction was independent of the allergic status. The synbiotics promoted IL-10 and IFN-γ secretion and downregulated the GPE-induced Th2-like phenotype. Co-culturing naïve T cells with MoDCs, matured in the presence of GPE and synbiotics, shifted the GPE-induced Th2 cytokine release towards Th1-Th17-promoting conditions in allergic subjects. The investigated synbiotics are effective in downregulating the GPE-induced Th2 immune response in PBMCs from grass pollen-allergic patients as well as in autologous MoDC-T cell stimulation assays. In addition to increased IL-10 release, the data indicates a shift from a Th2- to a more Th1- and Th17-like phenotype.Daily interactions between parents and children play a large role in children's emotional development and mental health. Thus, it is important to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying this association within the context of these dyadic social interactions. We suggest that examining cross-brain associations, coordinated brain responses, among parents and children increases our understanding of patterns of social and emotion-related processes that occur during parent-child interactions, which may influence the development of child emotion regulation and psychopathology. Therefore, we extend the Parent-Child Emotion Regulation Dynamics Model (Morris et al., in Cole and Hollenstein (eds) Dynamics of emotion regulation A matter of time, Taylor & Francis, 2018) to include cross-brain associations involved in dyadic emotion regulation during parent-child social emotional interactions and discuss how this model can inform future research and its broader applications. In this paper, the notion of Markov move from algebraic statistics is used to analyze the weighted kappa indices in rater agreement problems. In particular, the problem of the maximum kappa and its dependence on the choice of the weighting schemes are discussed. The Markov moves are also used in a simulated annealing algorithm to actually find the configuration of maximum agreement.Pleuroperitoneal communication is one of the complications for continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Communication sites, such as defects or bleb-like lesions, are found in the diaphragm, but it is sometimes difficult to detect these sites. We combined the infrared thoracoscopy and negative pressure technique to detect communication sites. We think our new technique will become an alternative option for difficult and complex cases.Integrative approaches in the primary care setting have grown in favor over the past few decades, with many interesting findings about the influence of personality disorders on physical health and functioning; however, less is known about how specific pathological personality traits impact patient-provider assessments of physical and mental health. Using the DSM-5 Levels of Personality Functioning Questionnaire-Short Form (DLOPFQ-SF) and Personality Inventory for DSM-5-Brief Form, these relationships were evaluated in a sample of 50 inner-city, low-income patients in a primary care clinic. Point-biserial correlations revealed significant correlations between physical and mental health morbidities, as well as personality pathology and patient response to treatment. Our findings lend further support to describing the relationships between personality pathology, medical comorbidities, and patient response to treatment. This study describes the behavioral and emotional adjustment of 77 children and adolescents 3 months post-treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), compared to 52 age and sex-matched healthy peers. Parents, teachers, and self-report ratings on the Behavioral Assessment System for Children, Second Edition (BASC-2) were utilized to measure psychological function. While overall mean scores were in the average range for both groups, parents and teachers rated patients higher on behavior symptoms, internalizing problems and adaptive skill difficulties. No significant differences between groups were observed on self-report, and inter-rater correlations were low to moderate. For the ALL group, maternal university completion was associated with elevations on parent report of behavioral problems, while no other factors predicted either parent or teacher report on other scales. DA-3003-10 Findings indicate that a subset of patients will require specialist psychosocial support to optimise their adjustment following treatment completion.
To review the evidence about video game-based therapeutic intervention for people diagnosed with depressive disorders.

Psychotherapy has been proved to reduce depressive symptoms and is a key element in the treatment of depressive disorders. However, geographical, economical and stigmatized concerns are barriers to access to psychotherapy. New technologies and videos games can overcome some of these barriers by providing teleconferencing evidence-based therapy as time as they may offer an interactive entertainment. Overall, video game-based interventions were useful and effective in reducing symptoms of depressive disorders. Seven of the studies were published in the last 5years, which reflects the increased research interest in video game-based interventions for depression. Overall, when adherence was reported, rates of acceptability and feasibility were high.

The aim of this study is to address the safety and effectiveness of a second continuous-wave transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (CW-TSCPC) treatment by comparing its outcome against a first CW-TSCPC treatment in the same patients with refractory glaucoma.

Twenty-one eyes with either primary or secondary glaucoma received a second CW-TSCPC laser session ≥ 3months after the first treatment. Intraocular pressure (IOP), best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and number of topical or oral ophthalmic pressure-reducing medications were registered at every time point up to the last follow-up at 3months. A complete slit-lamp examination was conducted to record for complications or other abnormal ocular findings. Success was defined as IOP between 6 and 21mmHg and > 20% reduction in IOP with or without anti-glaucoma medications.

At 3months follow-up of the first CW-TSCPC treatment, a 24.8% decrease in IOP was observed, whereas a 45.6% IOP decrease was observed 3months post the second CW-TSCPC treatment. Visual acuity did not decrease, and no major complications were observed post either treatment within the follow-up period. Time to failure was 79.5 ± 24.6 and 77.1 ± 29.4, respectively (P = 0.955). No serious complications were observed.

A second CW-TSCPC treatment proved to be a safe and effective treatment option when the first CW-TSCPC treatment was insufficient in maintaining the desired IOP level for a prolonged time (mean time between both sessions 6.4 ± 8.0months).

To assess the efficacy of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) following failed phacoemulsification cataract extraction combined with excimer laser trabeculotomy (phaco-ELT).

Retrospectively, the medical records of patients with primary or secondary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who underwent SLT between January 2001 and February 2015 by one surgeon at a single center after a failed phaco-ELT were evaluated. Exclusion criteria were angle-closure glaucoma, optic nerve atrophy due to disease other than glaucoma, and additional glaucoma procedures between phaco-ELT and SLT. The main outcome measures were time to failure and Kaplan-Meier survival. Complete success was defined as a reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) of  > 3mmHg and  > 20% compared to baseline, and the number of AGM ≤ baseline.

A total of 23eyes of 21 subjects were included. Baseline IOP was 19.7 (range, 19.1-22.7) mmHg, and the number of AGM at baseline was 2.5 (range, 1.9-2.9). Median time to failure after SLT was 7.2 (range, 6.6-7.8) months. The number of antiglaucoma medications did not change during that time.

In eyes in which the IOP is no longer controlled following phaco-ELT, SLT could be an option to slow disease progression or prolong time until incisional filtration surgery. However, time to failure after SLT is limited. Thus, close follow-up visits are necessary in order to not delay an incisional surgery.

In the present study, the full-length cDNA of yellow catfish AKR1A1 (TfAKR1A1) was cloned. As expected, yellow catfish AKR1A1 showed similarities with that of other species. Subsequently, prokaryotic expression vector was constructed and recombinant TfAKR1A1 (rTfAKR1A1) was successfully induced and purified. rTfAKR1A1 exhibited reductive activity to many aldehydes and ketones. To determine whether TfAKR1A1 could confer stress tolerance in vitro, the viability of control and TfAKR1A1 expression E. coli under abiotic stress was compared by spot assay. Results showed that the recombinant strain had better stress resistance under cadmium, hydrogen peroxide, and DL-glyceraldehyde stress. Then, effects of an intraperitoneal injection of rTfAKR1A1 protein on cadmium-induced oxidative stress were evaluated. Results displayed that TfAKR1A1 and Nrf2 expression levels were significantly decreased, CAT and SOD expression levels were significantly increased, BCL-2 and IL-10 expression levels were significantly increased, and caspase3a, NF-κB, and IL-1β expression levels were significantly decreased in protein-injection group.
