7 mg/g and fast rate (equilibrium time of 2 h), which was owing to abundant mesopores preserved by PLA skeletons. These findings indicated that PLA was a promising skeletal candidate which could protect APAN from fiber contraction during amidoximation process and could strongly expand adsorption capacity of APAN for heavy metals. The Loess Plateau, as the key energy base of China, has sensitive responses to the global changes, and receives polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from anthropogenic activities. However, understanding how anthropogenic and climate factors affect synergistically the PAHs distribution in this vulnerable ecological environment is deficient. Here the spatiotemporal distribution of PAHs in sediments from a typical river of the Loess Plateau were investigated. The PAHs were mainly from coal combustion in the range of 194-514 ng g-1, and their concentrations were generally higher in normal season than wet season as the dilution effect of high river discharge and strong precipitation. The interactive effects of land-use and precipitation showed PAHs enriched in forest-grass land were transferred into rivers through surface and subsurface runoff during light rainfall, resulting in the increase of the PAHs concentrations in river sediments. In contrast, large precipitation in wet season would obscure any spatial variations. In addition, human activities, especially energy production, directly enhanced PAHs accumulation in river sediments due to the emission from the production processing of oil and coal, and indirectly influenced the PAHs by impacting the per capita GDP. These findings had important implications for the management and prediction of PAH accumulation.Consumers often believe that "natural food" is harmless, however naturally occurring toxins in food represent a health risk to humans. Honey as a natural, nutritious sweetener, is one of the most commonly consumed foods throughout the world. However, food safety concerns for honey arise when honeybees collect nectar from poisonous plants such as Rhododendron sp., Coriaria arborea, and Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F. Such honey contains natural plant toxins. Humans may develop intoxication symptoms after consuming toxic honey; in some cases, it can be fatal. As a result, toxic honey poses an often-ignored threat to public health. Typical plant toxins such as grayanotoxins, triptolides, tutin and pyrrolizidine alkaloids, have been identified in toxic honey. Although different toxic honeys elicit similar symptoms, such as vomiting, nausea, and dizziness, the mechanism of toxicity may be different. Thus, it is necessary to determine the exact toxicity mechanism of different toxins to further develop effective antidotes and cures. Another important challenge is preventing toxic honey from entering the food chain. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry has a wide range of applications in the detection of different toxins due to its accuracy and simplicity. More methods, however, are urgently needed to detect multiple plant-derived toxins in honey and its derivatives. Developing uniform international standards for toxin detection during quarantine using advanced techniques is critical for preventing human consumption of toxic honey. If U(VI) in seawater (unconventional uranium resource) can be extracted efficiently, it can provide important supplies and guarantees for the stable development of nuclear power. In this study, a mixing melting method without condensation agent was proposed to prepare ultra-high flexibility and different proportions DAMN modified EAA resin film (EAA-DAMN) through the condensation reaction between -COOH and -NH2 and the uniform mixing of liquid EAA and DAMN. In addition, the dense film structure and -CN of EAA-DAMN were transformed into multiple pores structure and amidoxime groups of the amidoximated EAA (AO-EAA) by amidoxime reaction. The AO-EAA-3 showed the most excellent adsorption performance (qe=146.40 mg g-1) at pH = 5, which was 2.33 times that of EAA. Moreover, a hypothesis was proposed for the first time that -NH2 in the material could combine with H+ ionized by water to form -NH3+, and then adsorbed NO3- in the solution through electrostatic attraction, and O element from NO3- adsorbed on the surface and N-O from amidoxime groups of material as the adsorption active sites performed coordination with U(VI), thereby improving the adsorption performance of AO-EAA.Despite plastic ingestion has already been reported in several bird species, its physiological impacts have been little inspected, especially in representatives of the Cathartidae family. Thus, in this study, we aimed to identify, characterize, and evaluate the effects arising from the ingestion of plastic materials by Coragyps atratus adults, that captured in landfill areas. Herein, a total of 51 individuals were captured, the frequency of plastic intake being higher than 40%. The plastic materials consisted mainly of low-density polyethylene and film-type polystyrene, as well as presenting irregular shapes and diameters between 10 and 30 mm. Biochemically, we observed in animals that contained plastics in the stomach ("plastic" group) high production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and malondialdehyde (MDA) - especially in the intestine, muscle and brain - whose activity of catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) was not sufficient to counteract the oxidative stress. Moreover, in the liver of these same animals, we observed high production of nitrite and nitrate, suggesting a hepatic nitrosative stress. Plus, we observed a cholinesterase effect in animals from the "plastic" group, marked by increased activity of butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) (in the brain) and muscle and cerebral acetylcholinesterase (AChE). On the other hand, the biochemical changes perceived were not significantly correlated with the identified plastic material concentrations (2.808 ± 0.598 items/g of stomach content and 0.276 ± 0.070 items/g of stomach - fresh weight), body condition of the animals, size, and shape of the identified plastic materials. Hence, our study sheds the light on the toxicity of plastics deposited in landfills and their ingestion by C. Rapamycin in vitro atratus, which reinforces the hypothesis that these materials are harming the health of these birds and, consequently, the dynamics of their populations.Single-atom noble metal catalysts have been widely studied for catalytic oxidation of CO. Regulating the coordination environment of single metal atom site is an effective strategy to improve the intrinsic catalytic activity of single atom catalyst. In this work, single atom Pd catalyst supported on Pr-doped CeO2 nanorods was prepared, and the performance and nature of Pr-coordinated atomic Pd site in CO catalytic oxidation are systematically investigated. The structure characterization using AC-HAADF-STEM, EXAFS, XRD and Raman spectroscopy demonstrate the formation of single atom Pd site and abundant surface oxygen vacancies on the surface of Pr-doped CeO2 nanorod. With the combination of the XPS characterization and DFT calculations, the oxidation state of Pd on Pr-doped CeO2 nanorod is determined lower than that on CeO2 nanorod. The turnover frequency of CO oxidation is markedly increased from 8.4 × 10-3 to 31.9 × 10-3 s with Pr-doping at 130 ºC and GHSV of 70,000 h-1. Combined with kinetic studies, DRIFT and DFT calculations, the doped-Pr atoms reduced the formation energy of oxygen vacancies and generate more oxygen vacancies around the atomically dispersed Pd sites on the surface of cerium oxide, which reduces the dissociation energy of oxygen, thereby accelerating the reaction rate of CO oxidation.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of virtual monoenergetic images (VMI) in pre-operative CT angiography of potential donors for living donor adult liver transplantation (LDALT), and to determine the optimal energy level to maximize vascular signal-to-noise and contrast-to-noise ratios (SNR and CNR, respectively).

We retrospectively evaluated 29 CT angiography studies performed preoperatively in potential liver donors on a spectral detector CT scanner. All studies included arterial, early venous, and delayed venous phase imaging. Conventional polyenergetic images were generated for each patient, as well as virtual monoenergetic images in 10 keV increments from 40 -100 keV. Arteries (aorta and celiac, superior mesenteric, common hepatic, right and left hepatic arteries) were assessed on arterial phase images; portal venous system branches (splenic, superior mesenteric, main, right, and left portal veins) on early venous phase images; and hepatic veins on late venous phase images. Vascular attenuation, background parenchymal attenuation, and noise were measured on each set of virtual monoenergetic and conventional images.

Background hepatic and vascular noise decreased with increasing keV, with the lowest noise at 100 keV. Vascular SNR and CNR increased with decreasing keV and were highest at 40 keV, with statistical significance compared with conventional ( P < 0.05).

In preoperative CT angiography for potential liver donors, the optimal keV for assessing the vasculature to improve SNR and CNR is 40 keV. Use of low keV VMI in LDALT CT protocols may facilitate detection of vascular anatomical variants that can impact surgical planning.

This study investigated the oral processing behavior of one commercial GF bread and one gluten-containing (GC) equivalent with and without spreads. Oral processing parameters were determined through video recording and the predominant texture attributes were accessed using a check-all-that-apply test. The GF bread was perceived crumbly, dry and sandy and had a longer eating duration than the GC bread, which was perceived soft, spongy, pasty and sticky. Results suggest that the structure of the GF bread was easily fragmented during mastication and a longer period in the mouth was required to prepare a cohesive bolus for swallowing. The addition of spreads increased softness perception but did not affect chewing behavior. Oral processing behavior of GF products should be further investigated to understand how eating rate, satiation responses and food intake can be modulated in GF products. This study investigated the formation mechanism of enzyme-resistant structures in extruded starch, specifically, fatty acid-starch complexes (FASCs). The effects of fatty acids (FAs) with different carbon-chain lengths (C12-C18) and degrees of unsaturation (C180-C182) on complex formation were evaluated, with fluorescence microscopy verifying complex formation. The complexed-lipid content and degree of relative crystallinity increased with the carbon-chain length and degree of FA unsaturation. FAs with fewer carbons were more likely to generate stable complexes (e.g., form II, melted at 100-120 °C), while FAs with more carbons tended to produce relatively unstable complexes (e.g., form I, melted at 80-100 °C). After reheating and cooling, a new amylose-lipid complex and an amylose-amylopectin network was formed in the unsaturated FASC samples, which restricted the penetration of enzymes into starch granules. A starch-linoleic acid complex exhibited the highest resistant starch content (15.7%) and lowest predicted glycaemic index (88.
