Thus, to effectively utilize the coke-resistant property of NiCo catalyst for DRM, one should together combine its high coke diffusion rate with coke removal mechanisms such as oxidation or hydrogenation, especially at the final diffusion site, to ensure that there will not be enough coke at the final site that will cause back-diffusion.The coexistence of HBV infection and hepatic steatosis is a novel characteristic of liver disease. Silibinin capsules (SC) is a silybin-phospholipid complex containing silybin as the bioactive component, which exerts a remarkable biological effect on various liver diseases, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The purpose of this study was to investigate (1) the prevalence of hepatic steatosis in the general population and patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and (2) to evaluate the effect of SC combined with therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC) compared with TLC alone on hepatic steatosis in patients with CHB. A total of 16,451 individuals underwent transient elastography (TE) with the control attenuation parameter (CAP) measurement, among which the prevalence of hepatic steatosis was 31.1% in patients with CHB and 42.2% in the general population. The prevalence of hepatic steatosis differed between patients with CHB and the general population at an age of 40 years or older but was similar in individuals aged 39 years or younger (p  less then  0.05). Furthermore, in patients with CHB presenting hepatic steatosis, the post-6-month relative reduction in CAP in the SC combined with TLC group (p = 0.001) was significantly greater than in the TLC alone group (p = 0.183). The CAP distribution of different steatosis grades (S1, S2, and S3) in the SC combined with TLC group was decreased and S0 (CAP  less then  248 dB/m) increased significantly, but not significant in the TLC group. Thus, SC combined with TLC may effectively improve hepatic steatosis in patients with CHB.Wastewater characterization is the basis for process design and operation optimization of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). In this work, a comprehensive study of the respirometry method has been performed to evaluate the biodegradable organic matters of wastewater. First, the optimal initial substrate to biomass ratio (S0/X0) was confirmed. Second, under the optimal S0/X0, the degradation curves of wastewater carbon oxygen demand (COD) components rapidly biodegradable COD (RBCOD) and slowly biodegradable COD (SBCOD) were obtained. Third, the Mann-Kendall test was performed to confirm the time point (t2) when endogenous respiration levels were reached, and the hydrolysis model was used to determine the time point (t1) of the SBCOD degradation stage. Considering the results, an adequate wastewater COD characterization method for RBCOD and SBCOD has been proposed. This study provides strong support to carry out effective and feasible process design, process diagnosis and optimization capability, can help achieve refined and stable operational management of WWTPs.In order to conduct an objective evaluation of potential ecological effects of grey seal predation on marine mammals, it is essential to establish a broad knowledge base helping in the thorough identification of such cases during post-mortem examination. The aim of this work is to report and discuss outcomes resulting from a retrospective evaluation of harbour (Phoca vitulina) and grey seal (Halichoerus grypus) stranding and necropsy data (n = 3274). In addition, the results are compared to a recent case of definite grey seal predation from Germany as well as reports from other countries. Carcasses potentially subjected to grey seal predation show severe lacerations with a circular pattern leaving a smooth, linear and cut-like wound margin. Large parts of skin and underlying tissue are detached from the body and loss of blubber is common. Occurrence frequencies of encountered lesions are presented and a list of parameters to be used for the assessment of similar cases as well as a complementary decision tree are suggested. With the proposed parameters, categories and tools, a baseline can be built in order to facilitate the standardised recognition of predation cases during post-mortem examinations of seals between groups working with populations across several geographic ranges.Topological insulators (TIs) possess exciting nonlinear optical properties due to presence of metallic surface states with the Dirac fermions and are predicted as a promising material for broadspectral phodotection ranging from UV (ultraviolet) to deep IR (infrared) or terahertz range. The recent experimental reports demonstrating nonlinear optical properties are mostly carried out on non-flexible substrates and there is a huge demand for the fabrication of high performing flexible optoelectronic devices using new exotic materials due to their potential applications in wearable devices, communications, sensors, imaging etc. Here first time we integrate the thin films of TIs (Bi2Te3) with the flexible PET (polyethylene terephthalate) substrate and report the strong light absorption properties in these devices. Owing to small band gap material, evolving bulk and gapless surface state conduction, we observe high responsivity and detectivity at NIR (near infrared) wavelengths (39 A/W, 6.1 × 108 Jones for 1064 nm and 58 A/W, 6.1 × 108 Jones for 1550 nm). TIs based flexible devices show that photocurrent is linearly dependent on the incident laser power and applied bias voltage. Devices also show very fast response and decay times. Thus we believe that the superior optoelectronic properties reported here pave the way for making TIs based flexible optoelectronic devices.Angiogenesis contributes to numerous pathological conditions. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis will offer new therapeutic opportunities. Several experimental in vivo models that better represent the pathological conditions have been generated for this purpose in mice, but it is difficult to translate results from mouse to human blood vessels. To understand human vascular biology and translate findings into human research, we need human blood vessel models to replicate human vascular physiology. Here, we show that human tumor tissue transplantation into a cranial window enables engraftment of human blood vessels in mice. An in vivo imaging technique using two-photon microscopy allows continuous observation of human blood vessels until at least 49 days after tumor transplantation. These human blood vessels make connections with mouse blood vessels as shown by the finding that lectin injected into the mouse tail vein reaches the human blood vessels. Finally, this model revealed that formation and/or maintenance of human blood vessels depends on VEGFR2 signaling. This approach represents a useful tool to study molecular mechanisms of human blood vessel formation and to test effects of drugs that target human blood vessels in vivo to show proof of concept in a preclinical model.Despite the key-role of the Prostate Imaging and Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) in the diagnosis and characterization of prostate cancer (PCa), this system remains to be affected by several limitations, primarily associated with the interpretation of equivocal PI-RADS 3 lesions and with the debated role of Dynamic Contrast Enhanced-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI), which is only used to upgrade peripheral PI-RADS category 3 lesions to PI-RADS category 4 if enhancement is focal. We aimed at investigating the usefulness of radiomics for detection of PCa lesions (Gleason Score ≥ 6) in PI-RADS 3 lesions and in peripheral PI-RADS 3 upgraded to PI-RADS 4 lesions (upPI-RADS 4). Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) data of patients who underwent prostatic mpMRI between April 2013 and September 2018 were retrospectively evaluated. Biopsy results were used as gold standard. PI-RADS 3 and PI-RADS 4 lesions were re-scored according to the PI-RADS v2.1 before and after DCE-MRI evaluation. Radiomic features were extracted upPI-RADS 4 lesions, outperforming PI-RADS v2.1 performance.Phytophthora nicotianae is highly pathogenic to Solanaceous crops and is a major problem in tobacco production. The tobacco cultivar Beihart1000-1 (BH) is resistant, whereas the Xiaohuangjin 1025 (XHJ) cultivar is susceptible to infection. Here, BH and XHJ were used as models to identify resistant and susceptible genes using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). Roots were sampled at 0, 6, 12, 24, and 60 h post infection. In total, 23,753 and 25,187 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified in BH and XHJ, respectively. By mapping upregulated DEGs to the KEGG database, changes of the rich factor of "plant pathogen interaction pathway" were corresponded to the infection process. Of all the DEGs in this pathway, 38 were specifically regulated in BH. These genes included 11 disease-resistance proteins, 3 pathogenesis-related proteins, 4 RLP/RLKs, 2 CNGCs, 7 calcium-dependent protein kinases, 4 calcium-binding proteins, 1 mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase, 1 protein EDS1L, 2 WRKY transcription factors, 1 mannosyltransferase, and 1 calmodulin-like protein. By combining the analysis of reported susceptible (S) gene homologs and DEGs in XHJ, 9 S gene homologs were identified, which included 1 calmodulin-binding transcription activator, 1 cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channel, 1 protein trichome birefringence-like protein, 1 plant UBX domain-containing protein, 1 ADP-ribosylation factor GTPase-activating protein, 2 callose synthases, and 2 cellulose synthase A catalytic subunits. qRT-PCR was used to validate the RNA-seq data. The comprehensive transcriptome dataset described here, including candidate resistant and susceptible genes, will provide a valuable resource for breeding tobacco plants resistant to P. nicotianae infections.Variations in Mid Ocean Ridge seismicity with age provide a new tool to understand the thermal evolution of the oceanic lithosphere. The sum of seismic energy released by earthquakes during a time, and for an area, is proportional to its lithospheric age. Capivasertib Asthenospheric temperatures emerge on ridge centers with new crust resulting in high seismic activity; thus, the energy released sum is highest on the young lithosphere and decreases with age. We propose a general model that relates the systematic variation of seismic energy released with the lithospheric age. Our analysis evaluates the main physical factors involved in the changes of energy released sum with the oceanic lithosphere age in MOR systems of different spreading rates. These observations are substantiated based on three cross-sections of the East Pacific Rise, six sections in the Mid Atlantic Ridge, and three profiles in the Central Indian Ridge. Our global model provides an additional tool for understanding tectonic processes, including the effects of seismicity and mid-plate volcanism, and a better understanding of the thermal evolution for the young oceanic lithosphere.Present work studied the lesion mechanism of coastal clam and its vulnerability assessment subject to the hydrodynamic disturbance of extreme storm events. A clam habitat at the northeast coast of China was chosen for the demonstration study. Relocation failure after passive transport due to excessive substrate erosion or suffocation in anoxic burial under overburdening sedimentation was identified the major cause of negative biomass responses during the storm. Based on the biological propensity and physiological sensitivity of the clam, a tunable loss probability function correlating the mortality with the shell length and the seabed change was proposed. A hydrodynamic model was then adopted to compute the sediment transport and net changes in the seafloor in response to the comprehensive process of storm waves and surge. The spatial distribution of the damage states was evaluated based on the numerical results incorporating the loss probability function. The estimated damage was mainly concentrated along the wave shoaling and breaking belts parallel to the shoreline.
