Cerebral Microvascular Erdheim-Chester Ailment: Any Perivascular Hematopoietic Vasculopathy.
To study the correlation between calcaneal quantitative ultrasound (QUS) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and analyze the diagnostic value of calcaneal QUS in the evaluation of middle-aged and elderly osteoporosis.We assessed bone mineral density (BMD) at the femoral neck and intertrochanteric of left hip and lumbar spine (L1-L4) sites with DXA and QUS parameters of the right and left calcanei in a cohort of 82 patients over the age of 50 years. Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is common among Chinese infants, but a lack of large-scale, multi-center epidemiological studies has made it difficult to characterize the risk factors associated with this disease.This multi-center cohort study included 19,833 Chinese infants aged 14 days to 6 months. A multi-center ultrasound protocol was used to diagnose hip abnormalities, and epidemiological data of the infants were collected through questionnaires. Categorical variables were expressed as percentages and compared using χ2 test. Multivariate analysis was performed through logistic regression.Of 19,833 infants, 345 had DDH (1.7%). DDH incidence was higher in female infants (n = 279) than in male infants (n = 66) (χ2 = 95.89, P < .05), and there were more left hip cases (n = 149) than right hip cases (n = 79) (χ2 = 12.49, P < .05). DDH incidence was statistically different amongst different age groups in months (χ2 = 451.71, P < .05), and it gradually decreased with age (P < .05). The prly history, breech presentation, oligohydramnios, musculoskeletal deformities, and female sex are high-risk factors for DDH in Chinese infants. The incidence of DDH gradually decreases with age. The results of this study provide evidence for the epidemiology of infant DDH in China.
COVID-19 is an acute respiratory infectious disease, which makes people difficult to breathe; in addition, it is often accompanied by headache, olfaction, and taste disorders of the neurological manifestations. Acupuncture has been proved to have a therapeutic effect on various neurologic manifestations. This study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for the neurologic manifestations in COVID-19.

Randomized controlled trials from December 2019 to July 2021 will be included without restrictions on language or publication date. PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Chinese Biomedical Databases (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database, and VIP database will be searched. Two researchers will independently select studies, extract data, and evaluate study quality. Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized trials will be used to assess the risk of bias of included studies. Statistical analyses will be performed using the Review Manager V.5.3 and stata 14.0.

This study will not involve personal information. Ethical approval will not be required. We will publish the results in a peer-reviewed journal.

Strokes are among the leading conditions that lead to disability and death. Currently, there is a lack of ideal nursing care for stroke patients. The aim of this study is to assess the effect of combining evidence-based nursing and clinical nursing pathway to establish a nursing model to provide care for patients who suffered a stroke.

A comprehensive search of online-based databases will be carried out to identify relevant publications, the databases include EMBASE, Cochrane Library, PubMed, VIP databases, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang database. The search will consider all Randomized Controlled Trials, interrupted time series studies, and controlled before and after studies, all related to providing care for neurology and strokes by combining evidence-based nursing and clinical nursing pathway to elevate access and outcomes for patients with stroke. The language of publications will be restricted to English and Chinese. The author will select studies, extract data, and evaluate the quality of the involved articles. RevMan 5.3 software will be employed to perform all statistical analysis.

The outcomes of the proposed study will provide scientific evidence for the nursing care of evidence-based nursing combined with clinical nursing pathway for stroke patients.

The planned systematic analysis will be first to examine the effect of combining evidence-based nursing and clinical nursing pathway to present a nursing model to treat stroke patients.

Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Approximately 50% of patients is metastatic at diagnosis and the most common metastatic sites are bone, lungs, brain, adrenal glands, liver, and extra thoracic lymph nodes. The occurrence of gastrointestinal metastasis from lung carcinoma is rare and seems more commonly related to small cell lung cancer compared to non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

A 78-year-old man with completely surgically resected NSCLC and no initial evidence of distant metastases developed colon and gastric metastases 7 months after diagnosis, confirmed by serial radiological examinations and endoscopic biopsies.

The patient was subjected to total gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection plus partial colectomy for intraoperative detection of a transverse colon neoformation. Subsequent instrumental imaging showed bilateral lung tumor recurrence, treated with gemcitabine monotherapy for 8 months as first line chemotherapy for lung adenocarcinoma.

The patient presented complete response to therapy and was disease-free for 4 years.

Peters' anomaly (PA) and Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome (ARS) are typical classifications of anterior segment dysgenesis (ASD) and ascribed to congenital eye diseases that encompass developmental defects in anterior segment structures. The aim of this study is to discuss the unusual association between PA and ARS and to determine the results of penetrating keratoplasty combined with extracapsular cataract extraction and anterior vitrectomy for this unusual ophthalmic phenotype.

A 72-year-old female was referred to Changzhou No. 2 People's Hospital for a progressive decrease in visual acuity in both eyes in the past few decades.

The patient was diagnosed with PA with cone-shaped polar cataracts in the left eye based on a series of ophthalmic examinations. ARS with retinal detachment was diagnosed in the right eye 2 years prior.

Penetrating keratoplasty combined with extracapsular cataract extraction and anterior vitrectomy were performed to manage PA with cataracts in the left eye.

Her best corrected visual acuity did not improve significantly after the operation. Patients with ARS and PA should be treated cautiously because of fundus lesions.

This study revealed that cases with PA accompanied by iridocorneal adhesions, or other ocular anomalies, need to be treated cautiously for a very low success rate. It is of reference value for the evaluation of treatment prognosis for this joint occurrence of ophthalmic phenotypes.

Pernicious anemia (PA) is a risk factor for gastric cancer. Other autoimmune conditions may also contribute.

In a case-control study, we evaluated 47 autoimmune conditions among 39,125 gastric cancers and 200,000 cancer-free controls.

Six conditions were associated with increased gastric cancer risk (range of adjusted odds ratios 1.28-1.93, P < 0.05) PA, membranous nephropathy, primary biliary cirrhosis, pure red cell aplasia, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and Graves disease. PA was associated with 8 other autoimmune conditions (adjusted odds ratios 1.57-4.54, P < 0.05).

Although an additional coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine dose for immunocompromised persons has been recommended in some countries, further data to guide vaccination strategies for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are urgently needed. We sought to identify factors affecting initial humoral immune response to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccines among patients with IBD.

In this prospective cohort of SARS-CoV-2 immunized patients with IBD, we evaluated associations between participant age, sex, vaccine type, medication use, and the presence of a detectable antireceptor binding domain antibody and quantitative antibody level.

In total, 1,909 participants were included (1,123, 692, and 94 received BNT162b2, mRNA-1273, and Ad26.COV2.S, respectively) of whom 96% achieved a positive antibody response. Local full-thickness resections of the scar (FTRS) after local excision of a T1 colorectal cancer (CRC) with uncertain resection margins is proposed as an alternative strategy to completion surgery (CS), provided that no local intramural residual cancer (LIRC) is found. However, a comparison on long-term oncological outcome between both strategies is missing.

A large cohort of patients with consecutive T1 CRC between 2000 and 2017 was used. Patients were selected if they underwent a macroscopically complete local excision of a T1 CRC but positive or unassessable (R1/Rx) resection margins at histology and without lymphovascular invasion or poor differentiation. Patients treated with CS or FTRS were compared on the presence of CRC recurrence, a 5-year overall survival, disease-free survival, and metastasis-free survival.

Of 3,697 patients with a T1 CRC, 434 met the inclusion criteria (mean age 66 years, 61% men). Three hundred thirty-four patients underwent CS, and 100 patients underwent FTRS. The median follow-up period was 64 months.
