The research focused on participants' experiences of their bodies in the context of yoga as a health practice-specifically how they conceptualised their musculoskeletal bodies in this practice through ideas of systems, fragments, and materiality. It argues that participants' larger narratives about health and healthy bodies inform how yoga as a health practice is embedded in discourses of body work where yoga, health, and particular notions of bodily-ness become a project for the transformation of the self into a particular idea of what a body is or should be.Purification of the aerial parts of Vernonia auriculifera Hiern afforded steroids (1-2), flavonoids (3-5), and polyalcohol (6). Their structures were determined using spectral evidences as well as by comparison with reported data. Iodonitrotetrazolium chloride (INT) colorimetric assay was used to assess the antibacterial activity of the extract and isolates against 13 pathogenic strains. The crude extract showed strong antibacterial activity (MIC less then 100 µg/mL) against the tested bacterial strains. When combined with an efflux pump inhibitor phenylalanine beta naphthylamide (PAβN), the inhibition potency of the extract was substantially enhanced with the lowest MIC value at 4 µg/mL. Compounds 5 and 6 showed moderate activity (MIC less then 100 µg/mL) against 12/13 (92.3%), and 8/13 (61.5%) bacterial strains, respectively. A minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC)/minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) ratio ≤ 4 indicated their bactericidal effect against Escherichia coli, Enterbacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Providencia stuartii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus.
Traditional reliable change index (RCI) methods may be psychometrically limited due to their inability to account for particularly high or low baseline performance and regression to the mean following serial testing. The current study sought to examine differences between RCI and standardized regression-based (RBz) methods in a cohort of adolescent athletes engaged in sport-related concussion recovery.

Consultation records and results of computerized testing data via the Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (ImPACT) battery were retrospectively reviewed among 240 adolescent athletes involved in return-to-play protocols following a sport-related concussion.

High concordance rates were found between RCI and RBz metrics across ImPACT composites, consistent with previous literature. However, especially for those with lower baseline performance, RBz scores tended to suggest cognitive performance not meeting or exceeding baseline scores despite RCI metrics being appropriate across speed-based ImPACT composites. In contrast, results revealed high rates of RCI scores suggesting continued cognitive difficulties despite RBz metrics being within normal limits, especially for adolescents with
baseline performance.

Results suggest value in interpreting RBz values in addition to RCI values as these allow for clinical interpretation more sensitive to statistical confounds, including baseline performance and regression to the mean.

To identify the survival strategies and soil reinforcement capability of roots against damaging forces, we investigated Hippophae rhamnoides taproots with a diameter of 1-4 mm in a coal mining subsidence area. To simulate root damage from erosion, an HG100 digital push&pull tester and self-developed experimental installation were used in situ. Relative growth rate, activity, tensile force, and strength of taproots were inhibited by damage. Significant differences occurred in these indicators depending on drawing damage type and level. Inhibition effects from persistent drawing damage on growth and tensile properties were markedly greater than those from instantaneous drawing. Inhibition effects of severe damage were markedly greater than those of mild damage. The number of living roots declined more after persistent drawing or severe injury than after instantaneous or mild damage. The taproots showed self-healing ability, and the inhibitory effect of drawing damage gradually weakened with the time of self-repair, ensuring H. Its insights emerge from the comparison of three modern yoga styles that were developed for Western English-speaking cultural contexts - Iyengar, Bikram and Forrest - and which differ in form but also in the chronology of their emergence on the global yoga market and that of their reception in France. These three yoga styles are also branded through contrasting mythologies of transformational healing, and the aim of this paper is to explore how a brand conceptualization of yoga as a health practice relates to or resonates with the embodied experiences of practitioners, and to the socio-cultural contexts in which practitioners and their practices are embedded. The paper contributes a new case study to the global yoga scholarship and to a poorly studied French yoga scene, but more importantly, it cross-examines the discourses through which a yoga style is branded, the way it is transmitted, and the social context and social positioning of the individuals who practice it.
