Albums

Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned, and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old tapes and demos to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and the band went on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.

Toto is an American rock group that was formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group consists of Steve Lukather (vocalist/guitarist), David Paich (bassist), Steve Porcaro (keyboardist/vocalist), Jeff Porcaro and Joseph Williams who is a guitarist and vocalist. The band Toto IV released in 1983 won them worldwide praise. The band embarked on an international tour to promote the album following its popularity. The tour was interrupted when Bobby Kimball, the lead vocalist, was arrested for drug-related charges. At the conclusion of the tour the band decided to let him go and hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams to take his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the band following the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.

In 1998, Toto started working on an album titled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks, as well as several finished recordings of older songs. The album was a hit all over the world and the band went on a world tour to promote the album.

The album also included a cover of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" which the band decided to add after hearing the song on the radio.
