The patency rate is 83.3% (10/12). The histological analysis demonstrates autologous cell engraftment on and inside the scaffold, as well as CD31/α-smooth muscle positive neointima regeneration on the graft lumen. Thus, the PVA-PCL grafts exhibit biocompatibility in the rat model, which suggests that the PVA coating is a promising approach for functionalizing PCL.
Chronic stress (CS) could produce negative emotions. The molecular mechanism of SGLT1 and SGLT2 in kidney injury caused by chronic stress combined with atherosclerosis remains unclear.
In total, 60 C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into four groups, namely, control (CON,
= 15), control diet + chronic stress (CON+CS,
= 15), high-fat diet + Apoe
(HF + Apoe
,
= 15), and high-fat diet + Apoe
+ chronic stress (HF+Apoe
+ CS,
= 15) groups. The elevated plus maze and open field tests were performed to examine the effect of chronic stress. The expression of SGLT1 and SGLT2 in the kidney was detected. The support vector machine (SVM) and back propagation (BP) neural network model were constructed to explore the predictive value of the expression of SGLT1/2 on the renal pathological changes. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used.
A chronic stress model and atherosclerosis model were constructed successfully. Edema, broken reticular fiber, and increased glycogen in the kidney would be obvious in the HF + Apoe
+ CS group. Compared with the CON group, the expression of SGLT1/2 in the kidney was upregulated in the HF + Apoe
+ CS group (
< 0.05). There existed positive correlations among edema, glycogen, reticular fiber, expression of SGLT1/2 in the kidney. There were higher sensitivity and specificity of diagnosis of SGLT1/2 for edema, reticular fiber, and glycogen in the kidney. The result of the SVM and BP neural network model showed better predictive values of SGLT1 and SGLT2 for edema and glycogen in the kidney.
In conclusion, SGLT1/2 might be potential biomarkers of renal damage under Apoe
and chronic stress, which provided a potential research direction for future related explorations into this mechanism.

To investigate the incidence and outcomes of acute high-risk chest pain diseases, including acute myocardial infarction (AMI), aortic dissection (AD), and pulmonary embolism (PE) during pregnancy and puerperium.
The National Inpatient Sample was queried to identify pregnancy-related hospitalizations from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2017. Temporal trends in the incidence and mortality of AMI, AD and PE were extracted.
Among 41,174,101 hospitalizations, acute high-risk chest pain diseases were diagnosed in 40,285 (0.098%). The incidence increased from 79.92/100,000 in 2008 to 114.79/100,000 in 2017 (P
< 0.0001). The most frequent was PE (86.5%), followed by AMI (9.6%) and AD (3.3%). The incidence of PE in pregnancy decreased after 2014 and was lower than AMI and AD, while its incidence in puerperium was higher than AMI and AD consistently (P
< 0.0001). Subgroup analysis showed the incidence of these diseases was higher in black women, lowest-income households, and elderly parturients (P
&lased consistently. Although mortality has shown a downward trend, it is still at a high level. We should strengthen monitoring and management of acute high-risk pain diseases in pregnancy and puerperium, especially for black women, lowest-income households, and elderly parturients in the future.Disease modeling using human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) has both challenges and promise. While patient-derived iPSC-CMs provide a unique opportunity for disease modeling with isogenic cells, the challenge is that these cells still demonstrate distinct properties which make it functionally less akin to adult cardiomyocytes. In response to this challenge, numerous innovations in differentiation and modification of hiPSC-CMs and culture techniques have been developed. Here, we provide a focused commentary on hiPSC-CMs for use in disease modeling, the progress made in generating electrically and metabolically mature hiPSC-CMs and enabling investigative platforms. The solutions are bringing us closer to the promise of modeling heart disease using human cells in vitro.
To evaluate the effect of oral anticoagulants (OACs) therapy, including vitamin K antagonist (VKA) and direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) in patients with pulmonary diseases.
Literature from PubMed, MEDLINE, and Cochrane Library were screened until June 2022. Studies assessing OACs for pulmonary hypertension (PH), pulmonary embolism (PE), pulmonary fibrosis (PF), or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were evaluated for inclusion.
Our study indicated that in patients with PH, PE, and COPD, OACs could significantly reduce the mortality risk, and the effects of VKA and DOACs without statistical difference in reducing the risk of recurrent embolism events. In patients with sclerosis-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension (SSc-PAH) or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), vitamin K antagonist (warfarin) significantly increased the mortality risk, while DOACs were not. As for the safety outcome of OACs, existing studies indicate that compared with patients treated with warfarin, the users of DOAC OAC is a non-inferior option for anticoagulation in pulmonary disease treatment. Further studies are still needed to provide more reliable evidence about the safety outcome of pulmonary disease anticoagulation.
Optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) who have undergone drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation is not clearly established. This study sought to impact of DAPT duration on real-world clinical outcome in patients with or without DM.
Using a nationwide cohort database, we investigate the association between DAPT duration and clinical outcome between 1 and 3 years after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Primary outcome was all-cause death. Secondary outcomes were cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, and composite bleeding events. After weighting, 90,100 DES-treated patients were included; 29,544 patients with DM and 60,556 without DM; 31,233 patients with standard DAPT (6-12 months) and 58,867 with prolonged DAPT (12-24 months).
The incidence of all-cause death was significantly lower in patients with prolonged DAPT [8.3% vs. 10.5% in those with standard DAPT, hazard ratio (HR) 0.78, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.72-0.84] in diabetic patients and non-diabetic patients (4.5% vs. selleck chemicals 5.0% in those with standard DAPT, HR 0.89, 95% CI 0.83-0.96). The incidence of composite bleeding events was 5.7% vs. 5.4%, respectively, (HR 1.07, 95% CI 0.96-1.18) in diabetic patients and 5.6% vs. 5.0%, respectively, in non-diabetic patients (HR 1.13, 95% CI 1.05-1.21). There was a significant interaction between the presence of DM and DAPT duration for all-cause death (p for interaction, p
= 0.01) that further favored prolonged DAPT in diabetic patients. However, there was no significant interaction between the presence of DM and DAPT duration for composite bleeding events (p
= 0.38).
This study showed that prolonged rather than standard DAPT might be clinically beneficial in diabetic patients with DES implantation.

The interactions between large artery function and neurovascular coupling (NVC) are emerging as important contributors to cognitive health. Women are disproportionally affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementia later in life. Understanding large artery correlates of NVC in young women may help with preservation of cognitive health with advancing age.
To explore the association between large artery function, NVC and cognitive performance in young women.
Vascular measurements were made in 61 women (21 ± 4 yrs) at rest and during a cognitive challenge (Stroop task). Transcranial Doppler was used to measure left middle cerebral artery (MCA) maximum velocity (V
), mean velocity (V
), and pulsatility index (PI). NVC was determined as MCA blood velocity reactivity to the Stroop task. Large artery function was determined using carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) as a proxy measure of aortic stiffness and carotid ultrasound-derived measures of compliance and reactivity (diameter change to they and reduced blood flow pulsatility.
NVC was associated with cognitive function in young women. Carotid artery function assessed as carotid compliance and carotid reactivity may contribute to optimal NVC in young women through increased blood flow delivery and reduced blood flow pulsatility.
To investigate the feasibility of 3D left ventricular global and regional strain by using one breath-hold (BH) compressed sensing cine (CSC) protocol and determine the agreement between CSC and conventional cine (CC) protocols.
A total of 30 volunteers were enrolled in this study. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) images were acquired using a 1.436 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. The CSC protocols included one BH CSC and the shortest BH CSC protocols with different parameters and were only performed in short-axis (SA) view following CC protocols. Left ventricular (LV) end-diastole volume (EDV), end-systole volume (ESV), stroke volume (SV), and ejection fraction (EF) global and regional strain were calculated by CC, one BH CSC, and shortest BH CSC protocols. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and coefficient of variance (CV) of these parameters were used to determine the agreement between different acquisitions.
The agreement of all volumetric variables and EF between the CC prtably, one BH CSC protocol can be used for 3D global strain analysis, along with a good correlation with the CC protocol. The regional strain should continue to be computed by the CC protocol due to poor agreement and a remarkable variation between the protocols. The shortest BH CSC protocol was insufficient to replace the CC protocol for 3D global and regional strain.
The reported rate of cardiovascular adverse events (CAE) caused by immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) is low but potentially fatal. Assess the risk of CAE in cancer patients and compare the incidence of CAE between Chinese developed ICIs and imported ICIs.
A retrospective analysis was performed on cancer patients treated with ICI for at least four cycles in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from January 2018 to March 2022. Baseline characteristics, physiological and biochemical values, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic findings were compared between patients with and without CAE.
Among 495 patients treated with ICIs, CAEs occurred in 64 patients (12.93%). The median time to the event was 105 days (61-202). The patients with low neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (L-NLR) were significantly associated with the risk of developing CAE (hazard ratio HR 3.64, 95% confidence ratio CI 1.86-7.15,
= 0.000). Patients with higher comorbidity burden significantly increased the risk of developing CAE (HR 1.
