HDL particles can be structurally modified in atherosclerotic disorders associated with low HDL cholesterol level (HDL-C). We studied whether the lipidome of the main phosphatidylcholine (PC), lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) and sphingomyelin (SM) species of HDL2 and HDL3 subfractions is associated with premature coronary heart disease (CHD) or metabolic syndrome (MetS) in families where common low HDL-C predisposes to premature CHD. The lipidome was analyzed by LC-MS. Lysophosphatidylcholines were depleted of linoleic acid relative to more saturated and shorter-chained acids containing species in MetS compared with non-affected subjects the ratio of palmitic to linoleic acid was elevated by more than 30%. A minor PC (160/161) was elevated (28-40%) in MetS. The contents of oleic acid containing PCs were elevated relative to linoleic acid containing PCs in MetS; the ratio of PC (160/181) to PC (160/182) was elevated by 11-16%. Certain PC and SM ratios, e.g., PC (180/203) to PC (160/182) and a minor SM 362 to an abundant SM 341, were higher (11-36%) in MetS and CHD. The fatty acid composition of certain LPCs and PCs displayed a characteristic pattern in MetS, enriched with palmitic, palmitoleic or oleic acids relative to linoleic acid. Certain PC and SM ratios related consistently to CHD and MetS.Streptococcus agalactiae, often referred to as group B streptococci (GBS), is a severe pathogen that can infect humans as well as other animals, including tilapia, which is extremely popular in commercial aquaculture. This pathogen causes enormous pecuniary loss, and typical symptoms of streptococcosis-the disease caused by S. agalactiae-include abnormal behavior, exophthalmos, and meningitis, among others. Multiple studies have examined virulence factors associated with S. agalactiae infection, and vaccines were explored, including studies of subunit vaccines. Known virulence factors include capsular polysaccharide (CPS), hemolysin, Christie-Atkins-Munch-Peterson (CAMP) factor, hyaluronidase (HAase), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and serine-threonine protein kinase (STPK), and effective vaccine antigens reported to date include GapA, Sip, OCT, PGK, FbsA, and EF-Tu. In this review, I summarize findings from several studies about the etiology, pathology, virulence factors, and vaccine prospects for S. agalactiae. I end by considering which research areas are likely to yield success in the prevention and treatment of tilapia streptococcosis.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been disseminating fear in the community, which has affected people's quality of life, especially those with health problems. Health literacy (HL), eHealth literacy (eHEAL), and digital healthy diet literacy (DDL) may have potential impacts on containing the pandemic and its consequences. This study aimed to examine the association between the fear of COVID-19 scale (FCoV-19S) and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and to examine the effect modification by HL, eHEAL, and DDL on this association.

A cross-sectional study was conducted in 11 hospitals across Vietnam from 7 April to 31 May 2020. Data were collected on 4348 outpatients, including demographic characteristics, HL, eHEAL, DDL, FCoV-19S, and HRQoL. Multiple linear regression and interaction models were used to explore associations.

Patients with higher FCoV-19S scores had lower HRQoL scores (unstandardized coefficient, B = -0.78,
< 0.001). HL (B = 0.20,
< 0.001), eHEAL (B = 0.24,
< 0.001), and DDL (B = 0.20,
< 0.001) were positively associated with higher HRQoL scores. The negative impact of FCoV-19S on HRQoL was significantly attenuated by higher eHEAL score groups (from one standard deviation (SD) below the mean, B = -0.93,
< 0.001; to the mean, B = -0.85,
< 0.001; and one SD above the mean, B = -0.77,
< 0.001); and by higher DDL score groups (from one SD below the mean, B = -0.92,
< 0.001; to the mean, B = -0.82,
< 0.001; and one SD above the mean, B = -0.72,
< 0.001).

eHealth literacy and digital healthy diet literacy could help to protect patients' health-related quality of life from the negative impact of the fear of COVID-19 during the pandemic.

The echo-doppler images showed massive testicular infarction, so orchiectomy was performed. On gross examination, the surgical specimen showed complete testicular necrosis and diffuse thickening of the testicular coverings. Under the microscope, a severe obliterative arteritis was evidenced. SARS-CoV-2 spike antibody was detected by immunohistochemistry in the arterial endothelium. Electron microscopy displayed intracytoplasmic spiky viral particles in endothelial cells. The patient was treated with corticoids and was asymptomatic at last contact. The aquaculture sector has experienced fast growth as a result of livelihood diversification initiatives among small-scale farmers in Tanzania. Regrettably, the dynamics of harmful algal blooms (HABs) have been overlooked despite the noticeable forcing of climate variability, the interaction between social-economic activities, and domestic water supply reservoirs. This study aimed at surveying the occurrence, experiences, and perceptions of HABs in aquaculture systems from stakeholders in the Ngerengere catchment, Morogoro, Tanzania. A cross-sectional survey focus group discussion (FDG), key informant interviews, and anecdotal observation were adopted. A convenient and purposive sample population was drawn from pond owners, registered water users, and government officials in the catchment. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and constant comparison were performed. Most respondents (95%) were able to recognize the image of blooms displayed. Approximately 70% of the respondents agreed that water quality has deteriorated over time, and blooms occur during the dry season. Further, 60% of the respondents agreed that water pollution is a serious problem attributed to sources other than industrial discharge. There was no consensus regarding the health impacts associated with HABs. Raising awareness on HABs is of paramount importance as it will provide the basis for the development of HABs management framework and health risk assessment.Fused deposition modelling (FDM) is a popular but complex additive manufacturing process that works with many process parameters which are crucial to investigate. In this study, 3D parts were fabricated by placing each filament layer in opposite direction to the others; for this, two combinations of raster angles, (45° -45°) and (0° 90°), along with three different infill speeds were used. In this study, two 3D printing material types-Polylactic Acid (PLA) and tough-PLA were used. The material properties of each 3D part were investigated to identify the best combination of these parameters. A microstructural analysis was also performed on outer and inner surfaces along with fracture interface of the parts after tensile testing using a scanning-electron-microscopy (SEM) to explain material failure modes and reasons. The results suggest that for both the material types, a raster angle of 45° -45° produces stronger parts than to a raster angle of 0° 90°. This study also suggests that a slow infill speed improves tensile properties by providing a better inner-connection between two contiguous roasters. Thus, the detailed analysis of microstructural defects correlated with tensile test results provides insight into the optimisation of raster angle and infill speed, and scope for improvement of mechanical properties.Toxic metals in the industrial wastewaters have been liable for drastic pollution hence a powerful and economical treatment technology is needed for water purification. For this reason, some pure cellulosic materials were derived from waste fiber to obtain an economical adsorbent for wastewater treatment. Conversion of cellulose into grafting materials such as poly(methyl acrylate)-grafted cellulose was performed by free radical grafting process. Consequently, poly(hydroxamic acid) ligand was produced from the grafted cellulose. The intermediate products and poly(hydroxamic acid) ligand were analyzed by FT-IR, FE-SEM, TEM, EDX, and XPS spectroscopy. The adsorption capacity (qe) of some toxic metals ions by the polymer ligand was found to be excellent, e.g., copper capacity (qe) was 346.7 mg·g-1 at pH 6. On the other hand, several metal ions such as cobalt chromium and nickel also demonstrated noteworthy sorption capacity at pH 6. The adsorption mechanism obeyed the pseudo second-order rate kinetic model due to the satisfactory correlated experimental sorption values (qe). Langmuir model isotherm study showed the significant correlation coefficient with all metal ions (R2 > 0.99), indicating that the single or monolayer adsorption was the dominant mode on the surface of the adsorbent. This polymer ligand showed good properties on reusability. The result shows that the adsorbent may be recycled for 6 cycles without any dropping of starting sorption capabilities. This polymeric ligand showed outstanding toxic metals removal magnitude, up to 90-99% of toxic metal ions can be removed from industrial wastewater.Globally, drought and salinity stress critically constrain potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) production. Considering the impact of these stresses on crops and increasing food demand, insight into both tolerance and susceptibility is essential. The present study screens two potato cultivars, BARI-401 and Spunta, for their tolerance to simulated salinity and drought by in vitro LiCl and mannitol exposure. Temozolomide Plantlets treated with a range of LiCl (0, 10, 30, and 40 mM) and mannitol (0, 50, 100, 200, and 250 mM) concentrations were biochemically and physiologically characterized to assess their tolerance capacity. Shoot number, shoot length, root number, and root length were affected in both cultivars under higher LiCl and mannitol concentrations, even though Spunta was able to better maintain a higher shoot length under the 40 mM of LiCl and 250 mM of mannitol compared to BARI-401. The total phenol contents (TPC) in both cultivars were increased at the highest treatment concentration and the total flavonoids content (TFC) was decreased in BARI-401 as compared to Spunta. Higher free radical scavenging capacity (FRSC, low IC50 value) was recorded in Spunta as compared to BARI-401 with increasing treatment concentrations, which supports the high antioxidant capacity of Spunta. An inverse correlation between polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and TPC was noted in both cultivars. Peroxidase dismutase (POD) activity was increased significantly in both cultivars for all treatments, but activity was highest overall in Spunta. These physiological and biochemical analyses of both cultivars suggest that cultivar Spunta is more tolerant to salinity and drought stress. Further open-field experiments are required to confirm these results. The molecular mechanisms of adrenocortical carcinoma development are incompletely defined. De-regulation of cellular-to-extracellular matrix interactions and angiogenesis appear among mechanisms associated to the malignant phenotype. Our aim was to investigate, employing PCR-based array profiling, 157 molecules involved in cell-to-matrix interactions and angiogenesis in a frozen series of 6 benign and 6 malignant adrenocortical neoplasms, to identify novel pathogenetic markers. In 14 genes, a significant dysregulation was detected in adrenocortical carcinomas as compared to adenomas, most of them being downregulated. Three exceptions-hyaluronan synthase 1 (HAS-1), laminin α3 and osteopontin genes-demonstrated an increased expression in adrenocortical carcinomas of 4.46, 4.23 and 20.32-fold, respectively, and were validated by immunohistochemistry on a series of paraffin-embedded tissues, including 20 adenomas and 73 carcinomas. Osteopontin protein, absent in all adenomas, was expressed in a carcinoma subset (25/73) (p = 0.
